Based on those 8pm numbers for Don't Forget The Lyrics... it seems to be more of a "real deal" than NBC's Singing Bee. It was just a notch before SYTYCD, and with no lead-in (Singing Bee, meanwhile, is nestled in between AGT and SVU).
Maybe Reilly should put DFTL to use on Thursdays and stuff Kitchen Nightmares on the backburner this fall?

While I think Bee is better than Lyrics (To me, Bee looks original, while Lyrics looks too much like other million-dollar game shows), Lyrics probably works better as a one-hour show.
Not sure if Thursdays at 9 will work, as no matter what you put on it (non-Idol), you're still dealing with CSI and Grey's as competition. I can't see Lyrics competing in the long run with either show.
For some reason, Fox may be smart to cut 5th Grader down to 30 minutes (you could get through 10-11 questions on that show if you cut out some of the nonsense in between gameplay) and go with a 5th Grader/Lyrics block opposite Survivor, Ugly Betty and the NBC sitcoms.
I'd hold Kitchen Nightmares for next summer (a two-hour Ramsay block would be a ratings winner), but I don't see many alternatives for Fox in that Thursdays at 9 slot.

I may not be one of those viewers, but I expect it to do well. I do not see B&S posing a threat to it, and in the winter, even if LIPSTICK JUNGLE is any good, still minimum threat.
MAD MEN - saw an earlier post on this. I'm enjoying this, too. Last night was kind of quiet for a 2nd ep, but there were some very interesting things going on. This Draper character is a very interesting fellow. His wife's possible mental problems were handled with a sense of reality. The affair with Dewitt's character is interesting. There are a ton of things going on here.

I think that CBS should have moved Shark to Tuesdays at 10 so that they would have an established show in what seems to be a death spot for that network.
Top Broadcast & Cable Networks A18-49 Viewers Dipping Down from 2006
To investigate the A18-49 year-over-year erosion observed during the July Sweep this summer, I thought I would add the top rated young adult cable networks into the mix. Using the first three weeks that fully overlap the July Sweep dates, I have come up with a Top 12 for Broadcast and Cable Networks in the first three comparable weeks measured. I have included Telemundo, MyNetworkTV and ION in the list even though there are cable networks that rank higher.
Weeks 42-44 41-43
A18-49 JulySwp Jul.02- Jun.26-
000's Broad+ Jul.22 Jul.16
Rank AdCable 2007 2006 %+/-
1 FOX 2790 2993 -7%
2 NBC 2330 2517 -7%
3 CBS 2213 2497 -11%
4 ABC 1943 2047 -5%
5 Univis 1820 1783 2%
6 USA 1102 1343 -18%
7 TNT 1068 1077 -1%
8 CW 883 907 -3% vs WB in 2006
9 TBSC 810 883 -8%
10 DISC 732 612 20%
11 FX 683 726 -6%
12 TeleFut 623 320 95%
Telemun 603 487 24%
MNT 490 997 -51% vs UPN in 2006
ION 183 163 12% vs PAX in 2006
Based on this table, one can see that virtually every broadcast and cable network is suffering from year-over-year erosion in young adult viewers with the exception of Univision (up 2%), Discovery (up 20%) and TeleFutura (up 95%, with this years numbers swollen by soccer coverage).
This table also shows that while The CW has successfully held on to most of last summers WB viewers (and former WB affiliates make up 2/3rds of the network), MyNetworkTV has lost just over half a million young adults on a summer-to-summer comparison to UPN (and former UPN affiliates are approximately 2/3rds the affiliate base of MyNetworkTV).
No but only because ABC was advertising for Greys and basically Greys alone. ABC may be doing poorly this summer but last summer it didn't even have a hit the size of American Inventor so this summer I assume they felt their new stuff was worth promoting.
Grey's is really suffering bad numbers this summer, about half of what it was getting on Thursdays last year.
This summer, the ABC serial drama encores (Desperate, Brothers, Ugly, Grey's, Trees) all seem to be afflicted with The CW's regular season numbers of 2's in households, 4-5% share, low 1's in A18-49's and viewership in the 3-4 million range.
As I mentioned above, the promotion for the episodes is about half as well. Last summer it was all ABC was advertising for.
