For starters, the Good Wife could very well be a one and done series, going the way of previous women 35+ demo skewers- to the grave yard. Private Practice, against some creative and time slot issues, has survived through 3 seasons and will likely make it to 7 or 8.

Grey's got a 8.4/21 W18-34 last night.
Even higher then I thought, Thanks Travis.
NBC's Office is also very potent in that same W18-34 demo:

Thanks for posting, Justin. I find these so very interesting for their trends. It's easy to see how not that long ago ABC was very much in the same hole that NBC now finds themselves. FOX seems to have a long-standing problem with Thursday nights. And CSI viewers are aging at an incredible rate.
2009 CSI: 17.38, 4.1 2008 CSI: 18.93, 5.1 2007 CSI: 21.29, 6.4 (Jorja Fox left this episode...hence the above average numbers) 2006 CSI: 23.83, 7.9 2005 CSI: 28.82, 9.9
You've got it the wrong way around--ABC cares much more about the demo than CBS. CBS cares least about the demo, ABC and FOX care the most (and trade leadership in it the most).
Castle is definitely damaging ABC's demo dominance. TGW isn't losing CBS anything it had to begin with.

Ammit is right. If Castle was on CBS, it wouldn't have made season two although the crime viewers who flock to CBS may have been more open to it. Either way, its on ABC and ABC's level of acceptability, especially given their history with the post-Dancing slot, is pretty low.

That's true, but I think the massive holes in ABC's schedule will override that. They have much more important things to worry about. I'm sure they are just happy to have something in the post-Dance slot that isn't a giant gaping wound.
In truth, I doubt that TGW will not be picked up for a second season. I suspect it will replace Numbers. Us old broads are home on Friday anyway, and I doubt the show is that costly.

Considering a few weeks ago this show had a hefty premiere, I would say these ratings are bad. If my memory is right this show has lost over half of its demo audience.
CSI never got the credit it deserved. The same goes now with NCIS.
What you failed to include is the fact that Friends aired a repeat at 8:30 and basically held onto the entire audience from 8:00 and bested the rest of NBC's lineup (with the exception of ER). CSI could not pull that off.
