I have ANTM taped but probally won't bother watching. I started watching last night but they lost me with the whole sci-fi thing. When Tyra came out talking like a freaking robot I decided to just make it an early night. Sorry but it was just too silly for me.

Sounds like the same mentality of people that quit watching scripted shows because they think the show might get cancelled. What exactly is the thought process here that you are 'thankful' for?

This is an update to my earlier posting of the three-day averages in Week 50 to incorporate final numbers. The CW did not lose a shred of demo on Tuesday due to the Chicago pre-emption, even though they lost a few hundred thousand viewers.

These numbers suggest that The CW's (and FOX's) decisions to open their fall skeds three weeks ahead of ABC, CBS and NBC (and five weeks ahead of MyNetworkTV) is paying nice dividends for both networks, with The CW sitting pretty in third place in A18-49, and holding on to fourth place in viewers. Poor HSM-addled ABC is foundering in fifth place this week, and is serving as the boxing dummy for MyNetworkTV this week.

Week 50, First 3 Nights (Sep.1-3/08)
A18-49 Rank. Network: A18-49 / Viewers (finals)
====================================
1. FOX: 2.80 / 7,550,000 (2nd)
2. NBC: 2.50 / 9,323,000 (1st)
3. The CW: 2.00 / 3,830,000 (4th)
4. CBS: 1.57 / 5,477,000 (3rd)
5. ABC: 1.20 / 3,577,000 (5th)
6. MNT: 0.40 / 1,073,000 (6th)

TV by the Numbers has it preliminarily at a 1.6 HH rating and a 1.2 18-49 rating. Haven't found any viewer numbers yet.

I think The Mouse is still happy Wink

ABC FAMILY'S "THE SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER" DEFEATS THE FIRST HOUR OF CW'S HIGHLY-PROMOTED "90210" DEBUT IN VIEWERS 12-34 AND FEMALES 12-34

In a most impressive move, ABC Family's "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" defeats the first hour of CW's highly-promoted "90210" debut in Viewers 12-34 (2.42 million vs. 2.40 million) and Females 12-34 (1.92 million vs. 1.71 million), standing as TV's No. 1 program at 8 o'clock in the target demographics.

Despite facing the first hour of "90210," "Secret Life's" penultimate episode hit series highs in Women 18-34 (903,000) and Women 18-49 (1.4 million), positioning as Tuesday's No. 1 cable program in the key demos for the eighth consecutive week.

Thank God, I was hoping and praying for The CW's "90210" Success, and it did happened!

But The CW's biggest challenge yet is Friday nights....and the 99% dead CW Sunday Night.

But while I was watching the "90210" premiere encore (Sept. 4), The CW was PROMOTING "Valentine" for CW's MRC-produced CW Sunday Night line-up.

Oh and 90210's #s WOULD HAVE BEEN HIGHER if WGN (CW Chicago) didn't preempt the prime time slot for Chicago CUBS Baseball! which ran for 12 innings! and WGN-Chicago CW promoted it to air at 10:30 p.m. CT but instead the baseball game finished about 11:30-ish...and up next was the Evening NEWS....

and NEXT WEEK, the premiere of "Privileged" will be preempted! I was looking forward to see that show...but baseball might stretch for 1 or 2 innings more...

Go Chicago CUBS!!

Are you questioning my thought process, Mr. or Mrs. "I don't have a life outside these boards?" The show sucked since Cycle 9 and Tyra has become more grating with every passing season. I hope I explained it enough for you... Or do you need more clarification, oh great one?

Yes, but you have now made your 'thought process' clearly irrelevant. Maybe someday someone will come along to explain why they feel 'thankful' that they were able to quit watching a show sooner than the person next to them, but so far no one seems to have a good explanation for it. Maybe it really isn't any deeper than 'bragging rights'? In any case, I'm sure the networks would love to understand why people feel the need to be the first one off the boat, especially for the serialized shows.

T Dog, you should have learned already that Obveeus simply claims everyone who doesn't like his or her shows is irrelevant or delusional. Clearly people are tiring of the Tyra parade as evidenced by the ratings. I think the ratings speak for themself. The sooner this Oprah wannabe leaves the spotlight, the better as far as I'm concerned. Not sure why people are fascinated with women who look like they've eaten nothing more than carrots in the past year. Her talkshow isn't doing all that hot either.

By the end of the week, the CW's low rated Sunday will allow ABC to salvage fourth.

I think you clearly missed the point. I asked the thought process behind the statement Thank God I jumped off the ANTM bandwagon when I did. All I was looking for is an explanation as to what there was to be thankful for? Is there some overwhelming public shame or death caused by watching a show if other people are not watching it? Also, how is it 'jumping off a bandwagon' to do exactly what other people are doing?

I've never stopped watching a show simply because I thought it was about to be canceled, but I'm thankful for DVRs making it possible to avoid watching shows that are likely to be canceled. Now I can just record all the episodes and then watch or delete, depending on the fate of the show.

There are only so many times that you can become invested in a show and it's characters, only to be left hanging when the show just disappears with no closure at all. I practically stopped watching TV for several years because everything I started watching got canceled. It's especially annoying with serialized shows because of their ongoing story-lines.
