Nice numbers for Bones - this show is so underrated. I'm just a casual fan, but it gets literally no critical attention compared to other dramas. 10 million is not bad at all. Top Model was very disappointing, IMO. It got 5+ million last season - maybe CW should consider putting this franchise to rest soon.
Wednesdays at 8pm are probably going to be the most competitive slot this season. I think FOX may take the edge with bones. Knight Rider could be a silent hit, though - the movie did around 13 million, so maybe the series will do the same. Pushing Daisies is going to flounder. It was doing around 8-9 million by the time it ended last season. Private Practice will probably do around 14 million or so - the same as last season. The CBS comedies will most likely do 7-8 million, which I think they'd be happy with. Old Christine should take the edge of Gary Unmarried, though.

The WB Friday comedies in the 2005-6 season (households/share, A18-49, viewers):
Reba: 2.1HH/4%, 1.3, 3,400,000
Twins: 1.6HH/3%, 1.2, 2,600,000
Living with Fran: 1.5HH/3%, 1.0, 2,300,000
What I Like About You: 1.5HH/3%, 1.0, 2,200,000
Modern Men: 1.5HH/3%, 0.9, 2,100,000
Thank you for providing the actual data, dumont. The WB fans always seem to have an overly fond memory of how well that network did in the ratings, never quite understanding that it did no better than UPN. That being said, this year's CW sitcom lineup has no chance of reaching WB or UPN viewer levels.

Oh you like to get delusional too at times. And for the record, Reba at times did hit over 5 million. Dumont provided statistics for the final season on Fridays when for a good chunk of the season, they simply aired repeats because the network was in shut down mode.

I'd say delusion is the status quo around here.
LOL! How very true
I have to say that I'm surprised that the Bones numbers went up so much during the episode. I know that's the norm, but last night's episode was such a stinker that I'm surprised people weren't fleeing like rats from a sinking ship. Worst episode I can remember in a long, long time.
If I was a local affiliate station manager, though, I'd rather be located in New Mexico than Alaska. You can be sure that much of the ad money is going to be targeted to close races.
No!!! I much prefer when New Mexico is forgotten during election years. I can't even watch the local news live anymore cause it wall to wall election ads.
Way to go Bones. I have been a faithful fan from day one and I am so pleased they did well. Not all of the episodes are great, but for the most part they are entertaining!! This ensemble cast is very underrated. Hopefully this will be their year!!

In 2002-2003, Reba averaged a 2.9/5 HH, 1.7/5 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers, and often in the season episodes would go above 3 HH, 2 18-49 and 5 million viewers.
The comedies did even better in the late 90's. 97-98 had Steve Harvey average a 3.5/5 HH, Smart Guy average a 3.4/5, Wayans Bros a 3.5/5, and Sister Sister a 3.4/6.
I have to agree Texas Bound; although I'm not too sure about Sundays. The push towards a younger female audience does seem to be giving the CW at least a little bit of kick and some semblance of continuity in it's programming. Something that has not been there since the merger.
Personally, I have no interest in GG, 90210, Stylista or Priveledged, but I think they will all do pretty well with the younger female audience. And getting some eyeballs on their new shows before the big guns come back seems like a good idea. I hope they gain some traction. Now they just need to find a Buffy type show and a Gilmore Girls replacement and they will be nearly back to what they were 5 years ago.

It could very well be a strong play with the redeveloped network if they can catch some new eyes to bring to the network. Even more eyes when that men's demo runs away to watch baseball.
And The CW really did not brand itself as redeveloped coming out of last season. But if you look at the facts, it really has. First they jettison male/low income/low synergy Smackdown for 90210, Privledged, Stylista and now they are playing hard to the female demo records they are setting over the first week so far. They are really trying to embrace the WB style without saying that is what they are doing.
I think Sundays will be doing fine, despite what most think. They will probably perform around that 2.5 million mark which is an improvement. And it has the potential to grow a little bit if the shows capture that bigger non targeted demo. It all comes down to Fridays, which as a given is going to be very harsh. Just depends on if comedies will gain traction there or not.
Anyone know how the WB comedies were doing on Friday?
Just 3.5 million for "Top Model", and down in the key demos, too? (according to this article.) Thank goodness I jumped off the ANTM bandwagon when I did.
