-Yesterday’s Losers (excluding repeats): Greatest American Dog (CBS)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: Fox led the Wednesday troops, with the two-hour season-premiere of underrated Bones at a dominant (and improved) 9.69 million viewers and a 3.3 rating/9 share among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown:
Over at the CW, the two-hour season-premiere of America’s Next Top Model was down, but far from out with a still commendable 3.48 million viewers and a third-place 1.7/ 5 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m. Here is the half-hour breakdown:
America’s Next Top Model (CW) 8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 3.08 million (#5), A18-49: 1.5/ 5 (#3) 8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 3.56 million (#5), A18-49: 1.7/ 5 (#3) 9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 3.70 million (#4), A18-49: 1.8/ 5 (#3) 9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 3.60 million (#4), A18-49: 1.8/ 4 (#3)
Results among key female demos will be posted separately once the CW releases them.
Another two hour edition of America’s Got Talent finished first in total viewers (10.15 million) and second behind Bones among adults 18-49 (2.7/ 7) from 8-10 p.m. CBS aired another installment of the truly appalling Greatest American Dog (Viewers: #3, 4.89 million; A18-49: #4, 1.4/ 4), followed by a repeat of Criminal Minds at a third-place finish in both total viewers (5.72 million) and adults 18-49 (1.6/ 4) at 9 p.m. ABC capped off the block with repeats of the soon-to-relocate Wife Swap (Viewers: #4, 3.72 million; A18-49: #5, 1.3/ 4) and Supernanny (Viewers: #5, 3.25 million; A18-49: #5, 1.2/ 3), which both relocate to Friday in 2008-09.
The 10 p.m. hour featured ongoing coverage of the 2008 Republican Convention, which performed as follows in the overnights:
Facing 2-hour premiere of BONES on Fox and a two-hour AMERICA'S GOT TALENT on NBC, AMERICA NEXT TOP MODEL ranked first from 8-10pm in women 18-34 (3.0/9 tie), females 12-34 (2.9/9 tie) and female teens (2.8/8). TOP MODEL ranked second adults 18-34 (1.9/6-tie).
TOP MODEL built in the second hour of the two-hour premiere, improving at 9pm by 11% in women 18-34, 5% in adults 18-34, 17% in women 18-49, 13% in adults 18-49, 12% in viewers, 11% in persons 12-34 and 11% in females 12-34.
Good start for Bones. (still don't understand why almost a million people will watch half of a scripted episode like that).
Bad start for ANTM. (still don't understand why CW puts the cast up on the website and circulates it to the press before having an episode about the casting process).
I think AGT leaving and KnightRider coming in will leave NBC with less strength during the Fall season.
Re: RNC (or DNC for that matter): how much is this hurting the 'early' local FOX/CW newscasts?
Great numbers for Bones! (despite a lackluster ep -- they overplayed the 'fish out of water' with Booth, and what was up with the Angie-Hodgins *SPOILER* at the end?)

Could be. Did you get 90210 finals for Tuesday night?
1. Good numbers for Bones but nothing special, as a procedural fan i still don't get ehat people see in this show. It bores me to death
2. Great numbers for the RNC. Not a surprise there, after all americans go crazy about reality TV and Palin is nothing more than a reality TV star. Please let's schedule a debate between Obama and Palin. The ratings would go through the roof
Yeah for Bones! Not the greatest ep ever, but it was fun and entertaining.
Interesting to see the numbers for the second hour. I've always wondered what ratings Bones would get if it were on later. I wonder if House will see any effects from moving to the earlier timeslot?

Maybe it bores them to death too but they keep watching it despite that fact like you do?

I thought Bones was really good last nite. I liked the first hour better, actually. I wonder if the second hour affected Criminal Minds, because the repeats of CM have been doing better this summer. Makes me think CM won't be as strong this fall when it has competition. I am a big House and Bones fan, so I will be rooting for them and FOX this season. And very much looking forward to Fringe.

Agreed on both counts. BONES I quit after the pilot because it was nothing special+it was a cheat using that computer ehnancement of the skelton. If you are goig to be sci fi...then don't try and cloak yourself as a normal procedural.
Palin may be a reality star but she got me to stay up late and watch. I like her and hope she does well in the campaign.
