I am a Smallville fan that just happens to want a decent show to follow it. Let me tell you, Supernatural is not that show. I enjoy Reaper considerably more then Crappynatural.
You're seriously delusional if you think Reaper is better than SPN. But hey I don't care. You talk about SV making more money than SPN? Maybe. It does much worse than SPN over seas though and everybody wants it to end. But one thing is clear, SPN makes more money than Reaper can dream attempting to, poor thing.
And hey, what is the show that is on the air right now? I certainly don't see Reaper in the schedule. When it returns it'll be lucky if it does over 2 million.
I personally find Reaper to be a more enjoyable show than Supernatural, but I know a lot of people who would disagree. For me with SPN, I like Jensen Ackles a lot and I like what I've heard from the creative people, but there's not a "hook" keeping me in. That, and Jared Padalecki is really not that good.
That said, though... I don't think the CW has any interest in moving on with Reaper. They'll probably burn off the midseason installments and that'll be it. It's a shame, because the show has a lot of the elements that could make it a hit (being a genre show, Ray Wise, a likable lead in Bret Harrison)... but the network didn't really ever embrace it, even when it got higher ratings than Gossip Girl.
But really, to force people to prefer Supernatural or Reaper is silly. Why can't someone just like both? The CW has more holes to fill; it's not as though there isn't a timeslot for Reaper (or SPN, if it were to move).
Edited to add: Tuesday nights at 9 will probably be available sooner rather than later. Personally, I'd love to see Smallville back in that slot after several years, but that seems quite potent on Thursdays at 8. Still, a Reaper/Supernatural pairing could also be quite cool. I just hope they don't shoehorn Reaper onto Tuesdays with an incompatible lead-in yet again.
And although SPN fans are possessive of their timeslot... even moving SPN to Tuesdays could work temporarily. That show has proven resilient no matter what time it's changed to.

I think people are starting to watch the playoffs especially when the Cubs or Red Sox play. The shows should rise back up when baseball is over in a couple of weeks.
The baseball playoffs this year have some huge markets like Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, and Philadelphia in prime time against the networks including the Cubs who baseball 2nd highest rated team behind the Red Sox.
The shows are going to be effected until the World Series is over in early November, but after the championship series the games will be played every other day.
Well, I don't think you will have to worry much longer about the Chicago market being affected by the MLB playoffs.

I completely agree with your post. (I like that you didn't just come in here and post 10 times that a show is crap without elaborating.) I personally find Reaper boring and cheap, and feel more attached to the characters in SPN, but hey, your tastes are your tastes, that's fine. I agree with the SPN/Reaper pairing, I think it would work considering they're both old and male skewing. And I really want Smallville to end, not becauswe I hate the show, but because I used to be a fan and think it's time to end it while it's still watchable, cause it's not recognizable for me anymore.
The assumption that SPN fans don't like Reaper is untrue because I know people who like both (though they like SPN better )
As for Jared Padalecki not being that good, it's a little true even though he's gotten better, but he's still a hell of a lot better than Tom Welling.
MNTV got over 2 million viewers last night:Source HERE!
Wrestlemania did worse then I expected, and Magic Secrets did a lot better then I expected.

Interesting how all the nets have the same amount of viewers for the same exact broadcast, yet CBS is last in the demo. This just proves that all the nets really do have a reputation, and the viewing public is defaulted to the net they are used to. (older folks: CBS, mid age/women: ABC, men/younger folks: NBC, other/trash : Fox.)
There's nothing wrong with a higher demo, like I've said before, in reality, the older folks are spending more money. Especially in this economy.

Supernatural has a lot more female viewers than male viewers. In fact, I can't name one male I know who likes Supernatural. Smallville-yes. Reaper-yes. The ratings have proven that Supernatural has never done as well as it did on Tuesdays when it aired behind ultra-female skewing Gilmore Girls. Should the CW get Smallville to continue, testing Supernatural on Tuesdays at 9 may be an option and giving Reaper the post-Smallville slot could result in better numbers for Supernatural and better retention for the CW from Smallville in Reaper.

I really feel NBC botched in not ending ER two years ago. Viewers still really loved the show back then. Its got about half the amount of loyal viewers now. Two years ago they probably could've topped 20 million for the series finale. Now I think 15 would really be pushing it.
The pilot for Kath and Kim is up at Yahoo TV. Just awful. Click the link for yourself if you dare. I made it 5 minutes before "Kimmy" drove me to homework. http://tv.yahoo.com/kath-kim/show/41155/videos
I'd still like to see data on the actual 'male skew' of Smallville.
As for ER...what does it matter how big the finale is? All this idea that a show needs some sort of 'glory' number makes no sense. NBC is in sad shape and has most definitely needed ER over the last few years.
Telenovelas are a different format from series television in the US. A telenovela has a limited run of approximately 24-26 weeks. They're not as open-ended as programming in the US is.

It shouldn't go past that--the telenovela it's based on ran only two years.
Like if it ran ten years, would they still have her wearing braces? How crooked could her teeth be?
Let the 5th season be about her finally shedding the Ugly Betty image (without losing her identity), and wrapping things up, and bringing back Salma Hayek's character, and maybe I'll watch it again.
Well, no I won't, but that's what they should do.

I expected it to be absolutley terrible, but it wasnt all that bad. I would give it a 3/10.

I used to watch some episodes when i had time beacause most of the show was episodic now i don't watch it all, don't have time to watch every episode
You're missing out. I think this is the best season yet. As far as long run, it's ending next season, so.
Are you saying this is the last season. I don't think thats true at all. Where did you hear that nonsense if i may ask ?
No, NEXT season is the last. That is of course if the CW renews it. The show skews old and the CW doesn't want that so you never know. Kripke has been saying this for a while in various interviews and comfirmed it at Comic Con. Jared and Jensen also think 5 seasons is a good run and all the contracts expire at 5 seasons, so i'm really hoping Kripke gets to tell the story in the time planned and hopefully go out on top and not become the next Smallville.
