I think that it is only a minute or two...every episode shortened slightly with the claim being that it was done to 'help cut production costs'. It just seeems to me that the real story is that it allows them to squeeze in a few more commercials.

It fascinates me that there's such a distinct difference between the Big 3 (4? Did Fox run the debate? Or did it leave that to FNC?) Is it viewers showing their brand allegiance... or at least news-brand allegiance?
I choose NBC for such events simply for...RECEPTION. Although I'm on Armstrong cable, the local NBC affiliate has better quality of sound. I can't explain why, as the other 3 major nets also have local affiliates.

Supernatural is an utter piece of crap.
It's the best crap there is on Thursday night TV. And thanks for contributing for this forum with your insightful arguments, in saying that a well written and produced show is crap.
It's my taste, I love genre, and it's fine if it's not other people's taste, but I don't think it's fair calling a show crap without reason or expanation just to create conflict. Especially if said show struggles with a small budget and still manages to mantain quality, good actors and guest stars (from Linda Blair to Jim Beaver), good writers, fantastic directors, and acomplish great cinematography.
I think Ugly Betty is losing viewers due to some poor writing this year. The Daniel storyline is lacking, the love triangle with Betty just disappeared, and the overall mood is as dull as MODE is being portrayed.
Regarding the difference in viewers on the various networks for the VP debate, I actually think CBS retained less viewers after the dominant Survivor leadin because people probably saw that the debate was on and turned to another network channel to see if anything else was on. After recognizing it was on all the channels, viewers probably kept it on whatever other channel they ended up on... more than likely not CBS. ABC actually ended up getting a higher rating with viewers expecting Grey's might be airing.
This is going to be one interesting weekend of TV. You've got your first real Friday of the season where everything on the networks is brand new including the debut of SD! on MyTV against rival EHC on CW. The anticipated ratings of The Ex-List, Wife Swap & Supernanny, and Life behind Deal or No Deal. Then on Saturday Kimbo Slice is on CBS against College Football on ABC. On Sunday we've got everything new inside of week 2 of the season.
MNIE has a good increase from its first week numbers. With the state NBC is in, this is a positive for them. When Kath and Kim bombs, expect more one hour MNIE.
UB is declining and is no longer working in that spot. ABC needs to try to put something there mid-season. Sorry but I don't buy the UB needs Grey's pre-tunes to get viewers argument. This show is an established show with an established audience. It should be able to deliver on its own. UB is in no danger of getting cancelled, but its drop is something to note.
Hole in the Wall is doing horrible but it is a filler and with T:SCC, TD, and PB all doing terrible, it will have to stay on the schedule. At least its cheap.
I think Ugly Betty will get picked up for one more season because it needs four seasons for syndication.

UB shouldn't need GA, but I think it does. It lost a full 1/3 of its female 18-34 viewers week-to-week (based on the numbers in the ABC press releases). For a show on FOX or CBS, that wouldn't matter much, but that demo is ABC's primary target. I'm sure ABC is hoping that UB is just dependent on GA and that this isn't a permanent drop.
It shouldn't go past that--the telenovela it's based on ran only two years.
Like if it ran ten years, would they still have her wearing braces? How crooked could her teeth be?
Let the 5th season be about her finally shedding the Ugly Betty image (without losing her identity), and wrapping things up, and bringing back Salma Hayek's character, and maybe I'll watch it again.
