It's crazy: they give each other adresses of TV forums and they invade those forums just for a couple of hours. After that they leave the forums like true vampires
Originally posted by AJ: Actually, SPN's budget really wasn't cut this year, contrary to what everyone believes. In an interview with TV Guide about letting Katie Cassidy go, Kripke says that the budget is the same as last year, its just the exchange rate is different since they film in Canada. So The CW gave them the same amount of money, its just not going as far as it used to.
The exchange rate is something to also keep in mind when talking about the cost to make Smallville, which is filmed in Vancouver. That's gotta hurt an older show like SV, especially given how large the cast is.
But I still think the biggest factor in whether SV comes back for a ninth season or not is Tom Welling. I'm not at all certain whether the show will be back next year, but not from the network perspective.
Disclaimer: I am a fan of Supernatural, Smallville AND Reaper.

I certainly hope you are right, Marc. SPN gets better every season. I found this interesting post from James Hibberd that shows SPN at the top of the list of biggest fall TV gainers so far this season. I've copied part of the post below - the full post can be found here: Top gainers and losers

Someone is married to someone important. That someone is also the weak link of the show.

And if it was wouldn't you assume it would attrat an audience that was more teenybooper. Becuase that certainly isn't the case. Its audience leans more to the 25-54 crowd then the 18-34 (at least for the last two years).
You know the old saying. 54 is the new 34.
What next, the "Supernutural" fans are going to start arguing that the show deserves Emmy awards?

Trust me on this, it's not political so you can. I've been reading TV related forums for years. Never seen anything like Moonlight fans
I had my run-ins with them, but I find them totally inferior to the Firefly fans in terms of mindlessly obnoxious fanaticism. Veronica Mars fans take a close second. Pushing Daisies fans will threaten the supremacy of both once their show is canceled.

Agreed and I've been reading forums for years too. I used to participate in the PAX forums because they had a program once called Just Cause that I enjoyed. The fans of Sue Thomas FBEye and to a lesser extent, Doc, were nutso. They gave new meaning to Christian they were so nasty. However, I will say Moonlight fans were the most possessed I've ever witnessed.
When that someone is left in the news reader role she's great. I personally find Harry Smith to be incredibly boring and that Maggie Rodriguez isn't qualified either if you ask me. I would push for Couric to take on the morning show, although it will never happen. Then have Russ Mitchell or Scott Pelley take over the Evening News with the other person becoming lead male anchor to the morning show.

It was nominated for an Emmy this year. And Jensen Ackles was on the short list for best actor. Of course he would never be nominated for real much less win, though he deserves it more than many nominees.
Yes, the "Supernutural" fans can be bad (as proven by some recent examples), but they were simply no match for the "Moonlight" fans. I mean, with some other, um, passionate fanbases of the past -- "Freaks and Geeks," "Jericho," "Twin Peaks," "EZ Streets," "I'll Fly Away" -- at least those shows had some discernible positive attributes. "Moonlight" had none. Like, literally, none. I cannot think of one thing about that show that was the slightest bit good.
For two, "Supernatural" can at least keep most of its lead-in -- against much stronger competition, at that. And the fans are content with only getting 5 seasons. If some other unfortunate network had made the mistake of picking up "Moonlight" and had given it another 4 seasons before cancelling it, there would have been World War IV. (World War III, of course, was when CBS cancelled it.) You never would have heard the end of it. Because nothing was ever good enough.
Did any of you guys ever have the stomach (and enough Dramamine) to go and read some of the "Moonlight" forums? They would've been funny if they weren't so sad. Not only was the Grape Kool Aid plentiful, but they even had their very own Jim Jones -- "Leeser." Because the little culties couldn't think for themselves, every piece of "unsubstantiated" news had to be run by "Leeser" first. You know, just to make sure it was true. I think they were still checking with "Leeser" in June to verify if the "rumors" were correct that "Moonlight" was cancelled.
