I understand everything you are saying however they should have shown Grey's last night or even LOst last night(Oh--it wasn't out of post production yet--Right!!!!). Anyway, just seems stupid.
No one gets it. ABC has the best bag on programming on TV right now but you'd never know it by the way they schedule their shows and promote them.
if Ai was scripted the creepy little kid would have won. The judges have pandered to him all season. Thank god america actually got the winner right this year.

Distant second-place CBS opened the evening with The Price Is Right (Viewers: #2, 7.69 million; A18-49: #2, 1.8/ 5), followed by the season-finales of Criminal Minds (Viewers: #2, 12.96 million; A18-49: #2, 3.3/ 8) and CSI: NY (Viewers: #1, 11.71 million; A18-49: #1, 3.1/ 8) from 9-11 p.m. Criminal Minds, of course, deserves accolades for still standing tall opposite American Idol.
Next was NBC care of two repeat episodes of Law & Order from 8-10 p.m. (Viewers: #3, avg. 5.21 million; A18-49: #3, avg. 1.3/ 4 from 8-10 p.m.), followed by the season-finale at a second-place 8.45 million viewers and a 2.5/ 7 in the demo at 10 p.m. Look for the return of Law & Order (season No. 19) on NBC in 2008-09 in midseason.
Two enhanced repeat episodes of ABC’s Lost were not competitive, with an average fourth-place finish in both total viewers (3.09 million) and adults 18-49 (1.0/ 3) from 8-10 p.m. That led into the season-finale of Boston Legal, which disappointed at a last-place 6.37 million viewers and a 1.5/ 4 among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m. Next season, Boston Legal moves to Monday at 10 p.m. (out of Samantha Who?) for its final 13 episodes.
Two repeat episodes of the CW’s Farmer Wants a Wife finished a distant fifth with an average 1.65 million viewers and a 0.6/ 2 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m. Please…it’s enough with these inane reality/competitions already!

On FOX, Monster of a night for AI, I do hate that show but those ratings are impressive.
Over at CBS, Criminal Minds did well against that black hole aka AI. CSI:NY continue to be a dissapointement, I mean come on, it should have done better than CM considering the competition! Those involved with CSI:NY must be relieved that it is CM that is pit against AI instead of them because if it was them, they would get destroyed and they would be looking for new jobs!
NBC, nothing to talk about....just that I thought the season finale of L&O would have done a bit better.
ABC, Lost just doesn't do well in rerun, enhanced episodes or not. BL was a big dissapointement.

They did that to increase the media attention. That's how rigged results work. Everyone thinks someone is going to win but the "chosen" one is the other. I knew from the very first show Archulet is going to be in the final and he's going to lose.

That episode was one of their best. Only complain is that we have to wait four months to know who was in that SUV.
Maybe someone of the cast will not want to return for a 4th season, so the producers have an exit startegy. But my guess is no one is dead if all the actors want to return to the show. They'll figure a way out. As i said i liked the episodes, but it seemed very unrealistic to me.

Possible SPOILER ahead......Don't read if you don't want to know.....
From what I have read(small blurp about the finale on the TVGUIDE site), the producer Ed Bernero said that no one dies, someone will be severely injured. So unless someone pulls a Mandy or that one of the cast decides to leave(we would have heard something by now)then they should all be back next season.
If we could all have the foresight and be as cynical as you robert....

I don't think AI completely fixes the results; I just think the producers have their preferences and bias things towards them. The David-David final was pretty much orchestrated by TPTB. And I'm not the only one who thinks so: go read the EW.com episode recap for the last few weeks. Slezak (I think that's his name) does a great job of pointing out ways the three judges and the producers have tried to sway the results.
I'm not saying the Davids didn't deserve to be in the final. It's just that those in charge could have been less obvious that was their goal.
