If Kithchen Nightmares and Back to You develope into are even modest hits, FOX will be laying demo waste to the other Nets by the end of the 07-08 season.

As for Kid Nation, I missed it. I wanted to check itout at least once .... I'll try it next week. They don't appear to be showing it on the cbs website.

Checked out the following:

Kid Nation - I was skeptical and at the beginning where kids were pushing the carts, I was very leery. Enjoyed where they went from total chaos to figuring out some sense of organization and eventually into the teams. The payoff for me was when you can see they appreciated the sense of accomplishment etc... I'm definitely on board for next week and really thought I was gonna hate this show.

Back To You - As I feared, it was a very shallow and poorly written show. Although I do understand that many times, it takes a few weeks for things to gel (I had the same hope Til Death last year), I think this show is even worse. I'm a sucker for the traditional sitcoms though (I love 'em!!!) so I probably will watch once more just because I did like the Grammer, Heaton and Willard. (The weather girl though was such a bad one dimensional character I can't see how she made it through the focus groups.)

I can't believe KID NATION did that well... people will watch any reality garbage they put on air (i should know this by now)... as for GG: what do you expect. Who wants to watch a show about whiny rich manhattan b*tches? only other rich (whiny?) b*tches... The audience is very small. It may do well inside its audience, but outside of that no one will care. Not unless they start showing cooch shots when getting out of the taxi... Eeker

i like back to you. has potential. will be interesting to see how it does in the next couple of weeks!

Good to see the CW edge out ABC in adults!

In the battle of the 8-9 p.m. premieres, Fox took the 8 p.m. half hour courtesy of the debut of sitcom Back To You (Viewers: 9.44 million; A18-49: 3.1 rating/10 share),

Not even close to 2&1/2Men and likely to drop to where HIMYM is within a few weeks. It may be a 'solid' start, but it isn't a 'stellar' start.

Comparably, that put retention for Gossip Girl out of Top Model at just 71 percent in total viewers and 68 percent among adults 18-49.

Not bad for Top Model, especially with the revamped format. Disappointing for Gossip Girl as it did nothing more than match the numbers for OTH's premiere last year. Marc, out of curiousity, how much did ANTM grow between the 8pm and 9pm hours of last fall's 2 hour premiere episode? That number is what Gossip Girl should be compared to this week.

Word-of-mouth about how bad it is? I saw nothing last night that was even remotely redeeming or worthy of tuning in for again, and I'm a fan of the teen soap genre (which is hard enough to admit, haha).

Among the returning shows that'll be lost in the conversation shuffle: Deal or No Deal drops below 10 million in its second episode? I understand it's up against a boatload of premieres, but if they can't get 10 mil out of Deal, NBC is in for an extremely rough year. (Well, they are anyway, but even more so.)

And the Top Model news is pretty good, ticking barely down at all from last year's premiere. A lot of people have been talking about how this franchise is aging, but year-to-year it seems fine.

STANDINGS | Congrats to week 11 winner Douglas! | Winter/Spring 2010 Top 5 (thru 3/17):

WOW!!! The 8 o'clock time period was very competitive. I cant wait for abc and nbc to premiere all their shows. Its going to get very interesting and exciting for all of us sideline critics. I hope that Pushing Daisies is a huge hit. I will be holding my breath in anticipation. I am also surprised at how crappy the ratings were for cbs' overhyped Kid nation. This show is definitely a one-trick pony.

Maybe you are just getting old? people that were fans of 90120 or The OC aren't the target for Gossip Girl since they have grown out of that age bracket. The CW needs to find out how to reach the next batch of young'ins. Maybe they should start courting the actors currently on the Disney channel and try to build new shows around some of them?

I second u with that. This was the worst pilot for a teen soap i can remember. And i'm not a teen anymore so i remeber a few. Maybe this will be the last teen soap about rich kids that have such HUGE problems. Poor them

Back to You did decently at roughly 9.5 million but it essentially got the same numbers as K-Ville (take or leave a half million viewers). With all of the big names attached, it should have gotten at least 10 million and possibly in the 12 millions. So it's a little disappointing. Kitchen Nightmares is the big winner of the night and probably is FOX's best return of the season so far. It didn't cost much to make and brought in almost 7 million viewers on a crowded schedule.

Kid Nation should have opened up to higher numbers also. 9 million is not what they were looking for. They would have liked it in the 12 to 14 million range. If viewer retention is weak, this show could be in trouble fast.

The biggest loser of the night is definately Gossip Girl. Even though I thought it would only pull in the 3 to 4 million range, the CW can't be happy with it. With all of their promotion, they wanted around 5 million at least. The worst part of the numbers is the 68% demo retention out of ANTM. Gossip Girl skewed way too young for the demo. Gossip Girl will drop quickly into the high 2 millions which will not get the job done. Something else will be following ANTM in the future. Could they bring back OTH early? If it's doing the same ratings, why waste more money on a new show that underperforms? It's the CW's first bomb of the season and hopefully Reaper and Aliens in America can recover. The only good news for the CW is that ANTM premiered well and has steady ratings each year. Work it!

DoND is only a 'great' ratings performer on Monday nights. NBC has moved it away from the only place it really woked. From this point forward, it will be a middling performer.

I am kind of happy that GG did bad, because I'm sure OTH would have done better if it was promoted like GG. Some day CW is going to realize what mistake it did by holding OTH for midseason but it would be too late.

I tried watching 'Back to you' but it couldn't hold my attention. I drifted off into watching 'Evel' Dick's interviews online. So what was the twist everyone is talking about?

Kid Nation was really really bad. I think the premise could have worked with adults trying to build a town. It would have provided a lot more drama and a lot more authenticity. They could have had tasks where adults had to grow their own food. They could have had them elect their leader with different ideologies ex one leader would want to distribute the land equally among everyone and the other would want private ownership and things like that, it would have been a good social experiment. But IMO, all the potential in the premise has been watered down for kids.
