HIMYM led off the evening in its sophmore season. The difference is only about 10 or 15 episodes.

It is be too early to compare them for their lifelong duration or historical legacy, but there is no reason they cannot be compared for their current strength, which is what we are talking about. You admit in your argument that BBT is currently too weak because it is just a freshman.

NBC: L&O is in complete recharge mode (as I said last week). I think it's gaining new, younger viewers, and if NBC nurtures it through these early stages of rejuvenation, it could get a second wind and be on for SEVERAL more seasons. Only a tick of CSI:NY in the demo?

I'll say it again, these are promising signs of life for the original flavor of L&O. I remember last week some post saying that they saw mid 2s in the franchise's future. Well, i guess not this week.

I also argued last week (and I think it's pretty clear now) that if L&O benefitted from a compatible lead-in (or at least one able to get higher than DOND's craptastical 2.2) it would beat CSI:NY (and even CM).

As for Deal... they need to rethink airing it twice a week next fall. Move it to Fridays exclusively and forget about it.

FOX: Idol is in free-fall. I don't think that's an exaggeration in any way.

ABC: BL fans stop the chatter. It will be back. It did suck it up pretty good last night.

CBS: CBS WILL BE IN TROUBLE THIS FALL!!!!! How many times do sane people have to argue this point??? Even Marc agreed, as far as CSI:NY is concerned.

How is Law & Order doing ? I started watching this series and think it is great but my track record of choosing shows actually sticking around are slim to none so I'm asking the experts can I expect L&O to stick around ?

Will the revelation (for some viewers) that the judges have seen rehersal and are giving pre-prepared comments written by others out during the show hurt Idol long term?

If everyone stopped watching Idol overnight, FOX would be.......NBC.

Now that's a bit harsh..... for FOX.

What does NBC have? In the next week it has:

An under performing comedy block, followed by the husk of ER.

A Friday that looks like Saturday night programming.

Reruns of cable shows and a procedural rerun

2 hours of a fading game show followed by a show that is holding its own, but wowing no one

More Saturday type filler followed by a part of a Law & Order franchise that should have been put out to pasture 2 years ago.

Two more hours of game show, followed by a different segment of Law & Order.

And this is May Sweeps!

Fox isn't NBC, because NBC is the CW.

Fox’s American Idol rose to a very dominant 22.12 million viewers and an 8.1 rating/21 share among adults 18-49 from 9-10 p.m. But compared to one year earlier (Viewers: 28.75 million; A18-49: 11.0/28) that was a loss of 6.63 million viewers and 26 percent among adults 18-49. Yes, folks, that’s significant.

Yes, well, the Idolettes and the audience alike should have a chance to purchase tee shirts that say I SURVIVED NEIL DIAMOND WEEK. Proceeds going to charity, of course.

Well you may have come to the Law & Order party a bit to late. (j/k) I figure L&O will be around another season or two as Dick Wolfe tries to make it the longest running scripted series in the history of television. It has done decently this year though SVU tends to be the strongest of the three L&O shows.

I thought the exact same thing! And Paula looked very unconfortable! On the other hand, that call for Simon from his first crush was a good moment on Idol yesterday!

Well, it's clear that Paula is dysfunctional--everybody knows that. But if the show's fixed then the Vulpines are beyond arrogant. Why would they take a chance like that? If it were fixed, some disgruntled (a) fired worker (b) voted off Idolette (c) ticked off stage parent of Idolette would leak the story to the media, and the Golden Goose would be killed.

Nothing surprises me much anymore, but a fixed "Idol" is kind of low on my list. But it's also despicable for the Vulpines to allow Paula Abdul on the air. This is scarily like Faye Dunaway's insisting that Peter Finch's Howard Beale be kept as news anchor in "Network."

And what about "Saving Grace"--which is just as good a show.

I'm watching only as long as Syesha remains on the show. I have nightmares about a final between David A (who WAPO's Lisa de Moraes dubs Baby Elmo, if you didn't know) and David C (who she calls Coroner Munchkin).

My real hope, however, is that Jason Castro wins. Can you imagine the producers trying to sell a CD of his stuff? If he does win, the producers will absolutely be forced to make the changes they should have made this year, after the Sanjaya experience. That would be: ending the boys v. girls semifinals and just pick the most qualified people instead, bring back the judge's wildcard week from the first three seasons, and give the judges a vote.

Wink

Agreed, I definitely think HIMYM is the show that should be moved to anchor the new night, but I also think BBT will do fine anchoring the Monday 8:00 spot, too.

"Saving Grace" is doing rather badly. And i actually found this show horrible, i've seen a couple of episodes and i said "it's enough"
