MNTV this year is trending about 66% of CW numbers whereas for the four-day comparable last season they were only getting 25% of CW numbers.

Ratings didn't drop much when he got fired. Viewers were clearly more disappointed to see Jenny Finch eliminated. Still, The Apprentice is a typical elimination reality show so many people really just care about the elimination portion of the show. Therefore, they didn't have any need to watch the first hour last night. Expect viewership to rise in the 9pm hour when The Apprentice gets back to a 1 hour format.

A bit off-topic since it will be a Monday program, but how do you guys see Paradise Hotel 2 doing on MNTV? I mean, it will repeat all week on FOX Reality Channel (which promieses a TVMA version of the same episode), but could the show do well on MNTV on Mondays at 8 or just be DOA?

I can see it doing almost 3 million or under 1 million. A MyTV Reality show is an unknown X 2.

Someone also predicted 16.00 and 6.6, so I'm hoping for a slight downtick in finals. But that's unlikely, since overrun will probably boost it. Frowner

Since LOST was almost exactly where I thought it would be, and since Eli Stone was pretty clearly neither DOA nor all that impressive, I think the real story of the evening was Don't Forget the Lyrics. For a show that wasn't even finding 2.0 back when the competition was much stronger, it has really gotten back into the mix in a big way lately. Interesting that it hit new highs while stuff like CSI (R) and Apprentice took hits from the Lost arrival.

And I say that as someone who was watching Lost and paying no attention to Lyrics last night. Just found it odd.

We brought this up a little earlier. I agree, I think this jump is much more of a story than Lost's ratings (I expected 15-16, so it came out just a touch higher). DFTL has gone up 3 million viewers in the last 3 airings. Someone mentioned that a kid was playing last night, but that's still a huge jump.

Last season I took a lot of derision when I attributed Lost's ratings decline to the late timeslot, but the numbers last night bore it out.

Season 1: 8.8/18.4 (viewers 18-49/total viewers)
Season 2: 10.3/18.9
Season 3.1: 9.0/17.0
Season 3.2: 7.1/12.4
Season 4: 8.9/16.1

Viewers outside of the 18-49 demo:

S1: 9.6 million
S2: 8.6 million
S3.1: 8.0 million
S3.2: 5.3 million
S4: 7.2 million

Although 1 episode is little on which to base a prediction, Lost increased last night by 25% in adults 18-49, but 36% in viewers outside of that demo (those less likely to be watching TV at 10pm) from season 3.2.

Compared with season 3.1, season 4 is down 2% in 18-49 and 10% in viewers outside of that demo. That's a major bounce back from the -22/-37 from season 3.2. Interestingly, those are almost identical to the gains it made last night by moving back to 9pm.

Lost was great last night everyone both critics and fans alike seem to have loved it. I have yet to see a negative review. I think the word of mouth is going to be good so it will continue to do well.

Lost is also up from last season's spring premiere on Feb 7th which got 1.6m and a 6.4 in 18-49. Good news all around for ABC. As for last night's episode Jorge Garcia gave a great emmyworthy performance.

Well yes, it is much too soon to tell, Lost will probably lose 1m viewers next week for one.

Holy. 8.3 million for the debate? That's crazy. It was a very good debate though.

Exactly, that show would have been great in a two or three seasons run. Instead the plot is constantly delayed by new "mysteries" and flashbacks (hopefully gone for good).

There's really no great practical difference between flashbacks and flash-forwards. The format remains essentially the same, just inverted. It's a clever idea, which is not always the same thing as a good idea.

Who honestly cares about the "mythology" of the show or why that statue had four toes?

I care, but I'm an oldtime "Land of the Lost" fan, and I want to know just how much blatantly they can rip that show off before people catch on. Smiler

A long con indeed; when it is revealed it was all a dream or that some advanced bioscience explains everything, the semi-backlash following the Sopranos finale will look like unanimous praise.

I loved the Sopranos finale. And I don't think they'll reveal it's all a dream. And what's wrong with advanced bioscience explaining it? What would piss me off would be if they used magic or mysticism to explain it. Clearly there's an advanced civilization involved.

You see the problem--no matter what they tell us the answers are, some of us won't like them. Twin Peaks ran into the same problem when Laura Palmer's murder was solved. And that storyline was resolved brilliantly--Lost will never do anything as magnificently bonechilling.

Maybe some were watching the Clinton/Obama debate on CNN.

At least that plotline gets resolved in a few more weeks.
