I think this is a very good start for Lost when compared to the season three finale.
Yes, but people only say that when comparing premiere ratings doesn't look so good.
It was up against much weaker competition than last season's premiere, and it should have done better than this. And they are in risky territory here, because when you change up the format, you have to get it right, or you lose people really fast.
And I'm not sure they got it right. Honestly, I'm having more fun discussing the ratings than I did watching last night's ep. And I'd rather enjoy the show than the ratings. Honest. I would.

Well, if you miss an episode you start having problems understanding this whole deamons story arc. Well at least that's what happens to me.

You never know, next week Lipstick Jungle crashes the party... *snerk* Oh, man, I'm going to be eating my words if that thing is a hit (the original pilot was only barely more tolerable than Cashmere Mafia's original pilot).
Eli Stone... it gets one more week from me. It's ridiculously coated in schmaltz, and I'm not sure my blood-sugar can handle that much saccharinity.

Looks like i'm not that crazy after all
No, you're still crazy, but so was my viewers prediction.
BTW, if the Final numbers hold steady, we may have our very first EXACT Predicition winner. Someone predicted both the 16.1 Million viewers and the 6.7 Demo.

I think there are more chances of Nader becoming US president than for LJ to be a hit

It looks like a portion of those LOST viewers and early Eli Stone viewers went to the Celebrity Apprentice at 10pm an 10:30pm. Since TCE won't be competing with Eli Stone in future weeks, and I don't anticipate Lipstick Jungle to be a ratings threat, Eli Stone should stabilize in future weeks, as long as enough viewers found it engaging as I did.
I'm not sure I entirely follow the reasoning there...overall viewership for the major networks went from 48.453M to 30.507M from 9:30 to 10:30. What is to prevent viewers disinclined to watch either Eli Stone or Lipstick Jungle from joining the other 18M defectors?
My guess...ES will settle in the 7-8 million viewer category, at best.

Could be. imo, NINE's 2nd and 3rd eps were weak.
ES - right on the bubble. Watchable, yes, Attractive, ?

I understand that Lost didn't go up against stiff competition, but I think we need to give the benefit of the doubt here. I mean, it moved timeslots (from 10 to 9) and days (from Wednesday to Thursday).
Those retention numbers for Eli Stone vs. The Nine are off. Refer to the numbers I posted on page 1 of this thread. Here are the percentages:
The Nine vs. Eli Stone (Retention): Households - 71% vs. 77% Viewers - 59% vs. 72% Adults 18-49 - 60% vs. 63%
Then again, the numbers could decline once the finals are released since Lost ran two minutes over.

I don't care what any, crazy LOST fan has to say I was greatly disappointed with last night's LOST. There was no "WOW" factor, and no incentive to make me want to see the next episode. Not to mention some poor acting from a show that usually has the best acting in my opinion. Are the actors begining to lose their "touch"? Whatever, I just hope this was the exception to Season 4 and not the rule.

The Nine was an extremely hyped show that was picked as "the best new show" by a bunch of pubs like TV Guide and USA Today. It also following a LOST premiere that was coming off it's highest rated season at the time. I remember how much I was looking forward to The Nine only to be sorely disappointed once it peaked about 5 minutes into the show.
Eli Stone on the other hand is much lower profile, and its plotline (partly serial but mostly self-contained) will allow it to continue to have decent viewership each week. I don't see a dramatic drop off each week as was the case with The Nine.
By the way, I must be the only one that really liked Eli Stone -- I found myself surprisingly engaged in it. Cleverly writte, great cast, and a good mix of elements.

You're not the only one Chimera. I loved it as well. The only problem I had with it is I'm not quite sure where the show goes from here.
