And neither does Zitrone? Neither does Travis? You say I don't count, but it would seem your own enumerative powers leave something to be desired. Zitrone and I are not exactly two peas in a pod most of the time, you know. To put it mildly I've yet to talk to anybody I know who loved it. Nobody really hated it either, but there is a widespread feeling of ennui. quote: Overwhelming majority of critics loved it:
TV critics. We've covered this already. Meaningless. quote: Hate to break your bubble but outside a couple of people here almost everyone loved the premiere.
Hate to break yours, but outside of the internet, Lost is a lot less popular than it used to be. As to how much people liked last night's premiere, the next few weeks will tell that tale. And you may end up liking it a lot less than I liked last night's premiere.
Very true comment about the opinion of tv critics. But your opinion is meaningless as well. Not everyone share the same opinion. There will always be folks who like certain things and some who don't. I enjoyed last nights episode, I thought it was well done. The wow factor wasn't really there. The only thing that threw me off was Charlie's short hair and Jack's horrible basketball jump shot. Other than that everything else wast just fine.

Anyways, this could have been the worst Lost episode of all time and I still would have been a happy camper because a) I can't recall any other show other than Dexter and 24 to have consistently good episodes and b) the Lakers just committed grand theft with the Gasol trade and look to have a promising present and future.

Upon further reflection, I'm revising to Locke, Michael, and Sun. Sun is probably going to have to get off in order to survive - and I ultimately see Juliet being willing to stay to save Sun. quote: Originally posted by Zedman2: quote: Originally posted by tvfan300: That would be a total guess at this point. I'm with Locke, Michael, and Desmond.

I heard on the radio that there is a tentative deal in place with the writers. That major road blocks have been removed and that a deal can possibly be reached by next week. If this is true, it's fantastic news and there is still hope that a show like LOST can finish the remaining episodes and air them without too much disruption.

I didn't really see similarity with Pushing Daisies, either. Eli Stone does have some crossover with Ally Mcbeal. Both shows had dream/hallucination/fantasy sequences and both shows are about lawyers that would like to do something positive with that career endeavor.

In the LOST forum, they talked about some symbols on a blackboard when Hurley is the asylum as being significant. There was a sailboat, a palm tree, a shark, water, and the sun. I believe those symbols are a symbolic way of telling us who "the Oceanic 6" will be, aside from Jack. Here's what I believe they symbolize: sailboat = Michael (since he used a sailboat to get off the island the first time) palm tree = Hurley (since he is so laid back, like a hammock on a palm tree) water = Jin, since he is an excellent swimmer sun = Sun (obvious one here) shark = Sawyer, the scam artist Now that doesn't include Kate, but I believe Kate did not include herself as one of "the Oceanic 6" since she is on the run -- she probably created a new identity and pretended to be somebody else. The last thing she would want is the attention of being one of "the Oceanic 6". Why symbolism -- well, of course LOST is full of it, but just one example, also in the premiere episode, was when Jack was drinking "OJ" while watching Hurley's car chase on tv, a nod to the OJ Simpson car chase... quote: Originally posted by tvfan300: Upon further reflection, I'm revising to Locke, Michael, and Sun. Wow, it looks like last week's LOST/Eli Stone combo had the added competition of a record-setting democratic debate -- the one-on-one debate between Clinton and Obama scored 8.3 million viewers, well-above previous top ratings for a debate. Since there won't be another such debate this Thursday, it should be a little easier for these shows to hold fairly steady. Excerpt from medialifemagazine: The close race for the Democratic nomination in particular has led to record ratings on CNN, where last Thursday’s debate between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama averaged a primary-record 8.3 million viewers, bettering the old debate record set barely a week earlier by 3.4 million.http://www.medialifemagazine.com/artman2/publish/TV_Thi...day_of_reckoning.asp

The debate was over before Eli Stone started. The debate probably did cut into the ratings for Lost and the Apprentice, though.

That's true -- but there was probably a good number of viewers for the post-debate analysis of the debate, which lasts at least an hour. Also, though technically The Celebrity Apprentice competed with the debate, it's hard for me to imagine its viewers overlapping political debate viewers... that is, unless Gene Simmons was one of the debaters.

On the other hand, the debate started at 8pm, giving the 9pm crowd an hour of debate before their shows. And even if the debate grew from 9-10, that could have been a seperate dynamic. I say impact marginal on the entertainment shows.

Speaking of Lost, I have now seen the season premiere and clip show. Both were excellent and I will continue to view during this mini-season. Now onto Eli Stone!

I agree. The artistry and colors reminded me of Pushing Daisies, but that was about it. I watched it twice, the second time with my other half. quote: Originally posted by vlis: just watched the debut of Eli Stone - what a feel good show!! and by the way, i see no similarities to alley mcbeal or pushing daisies at all.

Really? The Apprentice attracts a large percentage of high income viewers. those people are more likely to care about the US economy than the escapist sci-fi types, IMO.
