Apparently, Marc had a typo. The Big Bang Theory had a 1.2 in the demo, not a 1.9.

So here is the schedule for next year, all networks:

Toughest (compared to this year, not in general) timeslots: Monday 8PM and Wednesday 8PM.

When did sweeps end -- because why did cbs air repeats and ABC is new.

I've just seen GA, and i don't think i've seen this season something more pethetic that the last 5 minutes of the show. I don't even want to think how the next season might look.

And I agree so wholeheartily that I won't even ask you what 'pethetic' means.

Except not even the Greys at its worst makes me grate my teeth like Pushing Daisies at its best.

Fan criticism is the most valuable sort of criticism: ask Tim Kring. I think the problem is that too often fans (or former fans) simplify their criticism to the extent it becomes worthless. "Show X sucks" is obviously worthless. But even "Show X has gone downhill since A started B-ing C" isn't much more useful. To the author of the comment, they believe the statement sums up enough because all of the reasons behind that statement are known to them. But it's worthless because the readers don't know the reasons (or at least not all of them).

So if you're going to criticize, make sure you include the reasons why you're leveling the criticism. It'll make others (including the showrunner) take your criticism much more seriously.

CSI returned with 20 million in early April. infact, all but ONE of CSI's new episode, since the return, have rated higher than Grey's finale.

I wonder if the statement was suppoded to be...
"Grey's" finale was ABC's highest-rated scripted telecast in nearly four months."
quote:

Highest rated among 18-49 not viewers:

* "Grey's Anatomy" season closer qualified as TV's highest-rated scripted series telecast in nearly 4 months among Adults 18-49 - since an episode of "House" on 2/5/08, which had the advantage of following an episode of "American Idol."
The story does not specify that.

You did a better job at writing than the person that wrote the article for THR.

You're correct. The original story from THR did not clearly specify that it was the highest demo not viewership. However, I can't take credit for the clarification, that I got from the ABC press release. Big Grin

I fell asleep during the first hour of the Grey's finale, that's how boring I thought it was.
And I was pretty awake during UB, which was pretty entertaining. The only thing entertaining about Grey's was my roommate imitating Pompeo's voice,we just love making fun of her. Big Grin

On Grey's ratings: great bump from post-strike ratings. Positive sign, it is futile to compare to last season's ratings.

On Grey's quality: this season has been weaker, with the Izzie-George romance a major turn-off, and the Meredith/McDreamy relationship obstacles clearly contrived -- really hasn't been the same since the infamous 'drowning' episode. However, I have enjoyed the post-strike episodes, causing me to be a fan again, and look forward to the season finale in my Tivo!

On ABC sweeps scheduling: They could have moved up either the Grey's or LOST 2-hr finales into sweeps (Wednesday, the last day of sweeps, for example), but they would certainly have not fared as well being on a different night and opposite the AI finale juggernaut. We should be pleased we are getting 2-hr finales of both, because originally each of them were just 1 hour. The Grey's ratings last night are encouraging because ratings fall off immediately as soon as May sweeps are over. Not sure if the trend will continue to next Thursday, since by then the viewers will have seen enough repeats to realize the summer repeat season is here.

ABC Fall pick-ups: I actually like both Life on Mars and Opportunity Knocks, and expect them both to be moderate hits next season. Opportunity Knocks really does seem to combine the helping families at their door hook of Extreme Home Makeover with the quiz-show quality of Millionaire. Only unknown is the quality of the host.

ABC Fall Schedule: Could be better, could be worse. I really like the Eli Stone pickup and timeslot, and overall stability. However, a bit too much stability on Wednesday, which could completely fall apart if Private Practice doesn't return with numbers like Fall 07. DSM is a really shaky pick for me, but they made that renewal months ago. It should still be better than the spring lineup of Wife Swap/Super Nanny/ Men In Trees though.

ABC Fridays: Speaking of which, while the reality combo of WS and SN will do decent on Fridays, I'm still upset over the cancellation of Women's Murder Club, which would have done even better on Fridays in either timeslot. But if it came down to either it or Eli Stone, I'll take Eli Stone.

ABC: Betty did about what I thought it would. Remember, 8pm doesn't have all that many people watching this time of the year. Greys did much better than I suspected. I was thinking 16.5 to 16.8 million at best and low 6's for demo. While the episode was boring and felt like a series finale, the characters were barable for the first time in months.

CBS: I don't think ABC's shows original eps hurt this network as they almost skew to the same people, but the combination of ABC being new and offering something fresh along with NBC and Fox being all new hampered their efforts, especially CSI. I do think the CBS dramas will repeat worse than ever this summer since it will be the same repeats for the 10th time. 18-49 numbers will not be pretty either. I suspect CSI may drop to 8 million this summer and low to mid 2's in the demo. Certainly not good for the good looking Swingtown.

Fox: Did well considering the competiton. Should rule Thursdays at least in demo and perhaps even viewers this summer.

NBC: Last Comic Standing should've waited a week to launch. DOND held up though. Potential for gains here as LCS was quite funny during the breaks when I tuned in.

Cdub: Stronger than expected repeats.

WMC's demos downright stunk. Wife Swap and Supernanny pull better demos with 5 million viewers, which is about where they could end up next fall with Fox airing gameshows against them.
