It was the most watched finale for a drama this year, in demo and viewers... if it is a "disaster", what words would you use to describe Moonlight's performance?
Different genre, different network, different expectations.
she really wasnt in the show. she only appeared in betty's dodgeball flashback from high school. I'm guessing next season she'll return in some way as betty's archnemesis. Would be cool to see her work at mode and go toe to toe with amanda. She did look good at least and by that I mean she didnt look hungover :-)

I watched it but I missed Lindsay Lohan; I'm not sure what that says about me. And I think the big increase in the last half hour of GA shows people are interested in the characters; but the pace of the show is too slow. But I do think it shows promise for next season that the interest is still there.

UB's numbers are still underwhelming. Even with the finale uptick, it still isn't at the levels it should be. Lindsey Lohan and UB didn't increase the ratings as much as Britney Spears' first appearance on HIMYM.
Repeating comedies on Thursday nights was a mistake for CBS. Actually, repeating everything on Thursdays were a mistake for CBS. None of those ratings are good. CSI repeats very poorly. That isn't good news for Swingtown which has that as a lead in.
Last Comic Standing bombed. Which is sad because it actually was a good opening. It makes me wonder how well their other new entries like Fear Itself and Nashville Star is going to do.
SYTYCD opened up to mediocre numbers. It has opened up better in the past. I think if it is honorable mention, DOND which earned more viewers in its timeslot deserves an honorable mention also. We will have to see if the numbers hold up. My guess is they won't.
CW was the CW. Looking forward to see if 13 can help out their numbers.
DOND rebounded because of a couple of reasons.
1. It returned to its in studio format, and they had those multiple million dollar cases, which always brings them their strongest ratings.
2. Much less competition than it was facing including no TPIR, which took some of the game show viewers from it on Wednesdays.
As to CBS, did you really think any repeats of any kind they put on last night was actually going to do well against a night of all new shows on the other networks including ABC with a night of all season finales. No way they were bringing in ratings with repeats against that kind of all new stuff no matter what they put on.
It's legit to want a show you like to end. There's a point when some shows just feel like they're heading irrevocably off the track, and hoping it ends before it embarasses itself is consistent with liking it. Heck, deep down inside I'm glad Firefly didn't last much longer, because two extra never-aired episodes (the second Mrs. Reynolds ep, and the brothel ep) were a lot weaker than the rest of the show, so there was already the sense that Joss and company would not be able to maintain the blistering greatness that they started with.
There are plenty of examples of shows and athletes that outstayed their welcome to their fans' chagrin.

thats not really that bad for a show with under 9 million viewers, its just that shows like the office and scrubs skew much younger. Now getting over 12 or 13 million and under a 3.0 is skewing old.

Of course DOND is going to do better on reduced competition. Most shows will. NBC was very smart in programming it there. It is the exact reason why it is going to do well on Fridays. It still has a huge appeal.
CBS made a poor programming choice. The only reason I can come up with for them repeating their comedies on Thursday is to get people to sample them and create counter programming to the game shows and dramas. Unfortunately for them, it didn't work. They basically gave up the night.

Completely agree. That finale gives me hope that the show will be back on track next season. Romance is in the air, especially for the main character, and that was something missing this season.
As for UB... yeah, she was in one flashback scene. I thought that was more distracting than anything else, to have her in it but not really have her in it.
Oh no, please no more stupid romance storylines for GA. I haven't watched yet the finale but that sounds catstrophic. I'm sick and tired of this soapy part in GA. Before the strike this season was very good exactly beacause they left out the "who'll have sex next episode" storyline
But I think sweeps ended on wednesday so there was really no reason to have original programming now that the season is over.

Heck, most shows overstay their welcome and by the time they end, you wish they got canceled years before. Both Angel and Buffy are prime examples. ER is another (and it's still on, dunno why). Gilmore Girls reached that point, only to get slightly better in its last few eps. Firefly never got corrupted, therefore it's hard to tell what would have happened had it lived longer. I wasn't happy with the direction Moonlight took in its last few eps (with the exception of the finale, which was great), but I would have given it another shot. GA is finishing its 4th season. We've seen it at its best, and now it's on a sharp decline. I am hopeful, but I also know that realistically, the chance of reversing the trend are pretty slim.
CBS did the right thing. They were looking for a long term gain, while taking a short term loss. Now, that the sweeps are over they were looking for some new viewers to sample their two younger skewing sitcoms. If they were interested in the maximum ratings they simply could have put on Two and Half Men, and it would have gotten higher ratings.

True, but why did it have to drag out one game for 90 minutes? There were way too many commercial breaks. Tivo or taping the program seems like a better option now.
