-Yesterday’s Winners: NCIS (CBS), House (Fox), The Mentalist (CBS)
-Honorable Mention: Fringe (Fox) – retention out of the second half of lead-in House of just 68 percent in total viewers and 69 percent among adults 18-49 keeps it off the winner’s listing. Ditto for CBS’ Without a Trace, which dipped from the second half of lead-in The Mentalist by 24 percent in both total viewers and adults 18-49.
-Yesterday’s Losers: Privileged (CW), Eli Stone (ABC)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: It was another Tuesday of mixed leadership, with CBS the most-watched network (with 3.36 million more viewers than second-place ABC) and Fox No. 1 among adults 18-49. Fox’s advantage in the demo over second-place CBS was a hefty 47 percent.
CBS’ NCIS and Fox’s House shared the top spot in the 8 p.m. hour as follows:
House (Fox) Viewers: 12.88 million (#2), A18-49: 5.5/15 (#1)
One year earlier, House at 9 p.m. (on Oct. 23, 2007) was considerably stronger at 18.11 million viewers and a 7.6/18 among adults 18-49.
Also in the time period was a Dancing With the Stars Recap on ABC (Viewers: #3, 9.34 million; A18-49: #4, 2.0/ 5) in place of the yanked Opportunity Knocks, and a repeat of 90210 on the CW (Viewers: #5, 1.33 million; A18-49: #5, 0.6/ 2). Another two hour edition of NBC’s The Biggest Loser: Families averaged 7.30 million viewers and a 2.8/ 8 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m., with the half-hour breakdown as follows:
The Biggest Loser: Families (NBC) 8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 6.74 million (#4), A18-49: 2.5/ 7 (#3) 8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 7.05 million (#4), A18-49: 2.7/ 7 (#3) 9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 7.32 million (#4), A18-49: 2.9/ 8 (#4) 9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 8.07 million (#4), A18-49: 3.4/ 8 (#3t)
Leadership was also mixed from 9-10 p.m. as follows:
Tuesday 9 p.m. Dancing With the Stars (ABC) Viewers: 16.02 million (#2), A18-49: 3.8/ 9 (#2)
Fringe (Fox) Viewers: 9.11 million (#3), A18-49: 4.0/10 (#1)
CBS’ freshman The Mentalist continues to thrive opposite the two, meanwhile, with 15.29 million viewers (#2) and a third-place 3.4/ 9 among adults 18-49. That put retention for The Mentalist out of NCIS of 90 percent in viewers and 94 percent in the demo.
Capping off the 9 p.m. hour was the second half of NBC’s aforementioned The Biggest Loser: Families (Viewers: #4, 7.70 million; A18-49: #4, 3.1/ 8) and episode six of the CW’s Privileged (Viewers: #5, 1.47 million; A18-49: #5, 0.7/ 2), which the network just ordered two additional scripts for.
Two networks – CBS and NBC – also shared the top spot at 10 p.m. as follows:
Tuesday 10 p.m. Without a Trace (CBS) Viewers: 11.59 million (#1), A18-49: 2.6/ 7 (#2)
Law & Order: SVU (NBC) Viewers: 9.35 million (#2), A18-49: 3.5/10 (#1)
Despite the lead-in support from Dancing With the Stars (and a guest appearance by Mrs. Tom Cruise), ABC’s Eli Stone sunk to 8.51 million viewers and a 2.2/ 6 among adults 18-49 -- third in both categories. Although retention out of the second half of Dancing With the Stars was weak at 53 percent in total viewers and 58 percent in the demo, equally concerning was a loss of 2.28 million viewers (9.65 to 7.37 million) and 24 percent among adults 18-49 (2.5/ 7 to 1.9/ 6) at 10:30 p.m.

NO PD is a goner.
PD and ES have the exact same demos, except the difference is Pushing Daisies doesn't have the luxury of a huge lead in - Or ANY lead in, for that matter.

How is DWTS not a winner? Both the clip show and the results did fantastic. If I was ABC, I'd keep the clip show. It is a quick fix until January. Anything they can come up with will not produce the ratings it did.
ES is dead. When the overrun is factored out, it will be under 8 million and close to a 2 in the demo. Not good.
BL is starting to decline, especially in the demos. A 2.8 is not what NBC would like to see on a demo heavy series. However, it is one of the few shows producing decent numbers for NBC so they will be happy for now. I still think that it is better as a one hour show.
WAT at a 2.6 demo is alarming. That's low for a CBS show. It's very old skewing.
House is really starting to decline. By next fall, there's a real possibility of it going under 10 million.
Putting Privileged after a repeat was a bad programming move by the CW. It isn't strong enough to hold its own. As a result, the ratings are terrible.
Fringe was great last nite(what's not to like about exploding heads!)and House was an eye opener. I think everyone (especially House) is glad Wilson is back. Both shows deserved the demo win.
