You could argue that ES hasn't had a full season to prove itself. And I'd argue in response that after a full season, ES would be lucky to break 1.0 in the demo--at least without a really strong lead-in, that ABC would be ill-advised to waste on a show that PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO SEE.
There's nothing remotely innovative or original about ES. It just adds a lot of bells and whistles to a concept that has been done much better on other shows--most notably Joan of Arcadia, which started out as a pretty solid hit, and barely managed two full seasons.
I watched a bit last night, and it's such a load of CRAP. If there really is a God, it will be canceled soon, and we will all get to sing and dance on its grave.

This 'very small drop' is still a down, not an up. This 'very small drop' occurred while ABC was airing an almost unwatched Lost rerun as opposed to a Grey's Anatomy first run. This 'very small drop' is still more of a drop than Survivor, so why term Survivor 'stumbling' and CSI 'ok'?
I beleive that the ship has definitely for Eli Stone. I think what ruined it for a lot of people was the character being a little over the top. Their is no denying that it had a kick-ass cast, I just think their were too many comparisons to Ally McBeal in the beginning and that turned many people off. If people want a lawyer show that borders on ridiculous, I think they will watch Boston Legal which is a much better and smarter show.

Are you kidding? ES is 10 times better than the crappy BL. BL is ridiculous not ES. Actually ES is a surprisingly serious. And this maybe a reason why it failed
But I say thumbs-down on the ep itself, with yet another transparent brush with death or departure for a character.
No matter what arc comes out of this, I'm losing interest in watching this group put the pieces back together. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the best # it does all spring.

I fully believe that with a strong lead-in this show could be a hit. I think that abc did a poor job of premiering this show in a tough time slot. I feel with a little patience this could be a hit for them, remember that both seinfeld and Everybody loves raymond were both considered flops in their freshmen seasons and look how that turned out. What I admire about Fox is that it will utilize AI to launch new shows to air after it for 2 or 3 days consecutively to ensure that it gets sampled, what did abc do it premiered M/G at 10:30. WTF? It should have aired it on both mon. and tues. night and then have the official premiere on thurs night.

Miss/Guided pulled in half the demo of My Name is Earl. I know that ABC is desparate for comedy, but is it really worth ABC renewing something that pulls a 1.5 demo?
In my uninformed opinion, the benchmark for Miss Guided was 2.0, and if it could continue to hit that number, it was probably exceeding the very low expectations and might have a shot at a reprieve. So last night killed the show. Earl's not a good enough excuse for that number; it needed 2.0 AGAINST Earl. And Eli Stone was already in huge trouble before the return of WAT and now is pretty much hopeless.
On the CBS side, I think the return of Without a Trace to over 15 mil and over 4 demo is a major positive... above most fall originals. CSI was below most of the fall originals.
Nice to see The Office repeats give NBC two fairly respectable hours (at least as repeats go) in the demo. Cannot wait for its return next week.

So the line of reasoning runs thusly:
1)There's this new show I like.
2)It's getting bad ratings.
3)I've heard that some shows that eventually became hits got bad ratings.
4)This means that if they keep this show I like on the air long enough, it will be a hit, even though it is nothing like those other shows, which I have heard were once considered flops, though in fact they were not doing nearly as badly in the ratings, as this new show is doing.
5)The fact that far many other times, shows that were doing badly were given more time, and remained flops is immaterial.

With ER coming back next week and Lost joining the tmeslot later on, the competition WaT faces will be much greater than the free ride it had this episode.
