-Ratings Breakdown: Led by the NCIS juggernaut, CBS finished first on this second Tuesday of the 2009-10 season, beating the No. 2 network (ABC in total viewers, NBC among adults 18-49) by an average 8.73 million viewers and 29 percent among adults 18-49. The Eye net, in fact, dominated every half-hour. On that note…
CBS blockbuster NCIS, which was the most-watched show in premiere week, remained just that with a very dominant 20.65 million viewers and a 4.6 rating/13 share among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. That led into week two of spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles at 17.42 million viewers and a 4.2/11 in the demo at 9 p.m. One week earlier, NCIS: Los Angeles premiered with a similar 18.73 million viewers and a 4.4/11 among adults 18-49 on Sept. 22. Retention for NCIS: Los Angeles out of the 8:30 p.m. portion of NCIS (Viewers: 21.31 million, A18-49: 4.8/13) was 81 percent in total viewers and 87 percent in the demo. Excellent results for NCIS: Los Angeles in week two.
CBS’ leadership continued at 10 p.m. care of week two of drama The Good Wife at a potent 13.38 million viewers and a 3.2/ 9 among adults 18-49. One week earlier, The Good Wife kicked-off with an almost identical 13.71 million viewers and a 3.1/ 8 in the demo. Needless to say, CBS owns Tuesday in fourth quarter.
ABC got off to a sluggish start with time period warmer Shark Tank at a fourth-place finish in both total viewers (5.28 million) and adults 18-49 (1.5/ 5) at 8 p.m. Don’t forget, of course, that the upcoming remake of V is stepping into the time period on Nov. 3. At 9 p.m., the live Dancing With the Stars Results Show perked up to 12.47 million viewers (#2) and a 2.6/ 7 in the demo (#3). As predicted, wooden Kathy Ireland was the latest celebrity to be sent packing. Week two of 10 p.m. ABC drama The Forgotten took a hit, however, with 7.72 million viewers (#2) and a third-place 2.0/ 5 among adults 18-49. Compared to it’s week-ago debut (Viewers: 9.54 million; A18-49: 2.6/ 7 on Sept. 22), that was a loss of 1.82 million viewers and 23 percent in the demo.
Over at NBC, another two-hour edition of The Biggest Loser, which built in every half-hour, averaged a very respectable 9.03 million viewers and a 3.6/10 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m. By 9:30 p.m., the feel-good reality/competition was first among adults 18-49. Here is the half-hour breakdown:
The Biggest Loser (NBC) 8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 8.22 million (#2), A18-49: 3.1/ 9 (#2) 8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 8.78 million (#2), A18-49: 3.4/10 (#2) 9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 9.06 million (#3), A18-49: 3.6/10 (#2) 9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 10.07 million (#3), A18-49: 4.2/11 (#1)
At 10 p.m., and with stronger lead-in support, NBC’s The Jay Leno Show perked up to 6.63 million viewers (#3) and a second-place 2.3/ 6 among adults 18-49. While the results were better, the retention still lagged at 66 percent in total viewers and 55 percent in the demo out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of The Biggest Loser. That said, this is still a “losing” performance.
Fox continues to have mixed results on Tuesday with it combination of Hell’s Kitchen (Viewers: #3, 6.54 million; A18-49: #3, 3.1/ 9) and So You Think You Can Dance (Viewers: #4, 5.26 million; A18-49: #4, 2.4/ 6), which does not belong on the fall schedule. And last, of course, was CW scripted duo 90210 (Viewers: 2.46 million; A18-49: 1.2/ 3) and recent failing entry Melrose Place (Viewers: 1.53 million, A18-49: 0.8/ 2). The upcoming return of Heather Locklear to Melrose Place cannot come soon enough. One year earlier, anchor 90210 was considerably stronger at 3.25 million viewers and a 1.7/ 5 among adults 18-49.

I think Marc accidentally put Forgotten and Jay Leno in the Winners section when he really wanted to toss them on the loser's list.
Solid numbers for Biggest Loser, and HK still getting above a 3 in the demo against heavy fall competition is proof that this show could do well if given a permanent fall slot.

So I guess those predictions of The Good Wife as an early casualty were wrong. If it maintains the demo in the next few weeks, it should get a full season pickup.

The Good Wife was surprisingly stable in week 2 which seems to support the critics positive reviews.
ABS as a whole was pretty bad last night...
Intersting that while SYTYCD's total viewers are trash the demo number isn't terrible. I guess it's an extremely young skewing show....which may keep it from being sent back to summer.
NCIS is a monster and NCIS LA and The Good Wife are doing great as well, not only is a Criminal Minds spin-off in development but I wouldn’t be surprised if another NCIS spin-off is in the works although where they could set it and what division of NCIS is viable for television is beyond me.
