I wish DOND were only an hour long from now on.
This might be the death knell for MIT.
And I agree that the CW oughtta use the ANTM lead-in for something people will watch. I mean, like how many times can the PDs change members? But again, this is the CW, Ostroff's play pen....
l&o is toast...with nbc's weakening line-up l&o has no support...i expect it to fall heavy this month with the return of new shows on cbs weds...
DOND lead-in could not even beat big brother in the demos and is weak...what will happen when DOND faces much stronger competition?? expecially since its on 4 hours a week... i expect l&o will weaken quite a bit this spring and high 2 demos are most likely in its future...

That is a really silly question for many, many reasons.
1. The group can and does change members freuently and has been doing so for more than a decade, ever since Carmen Electra was a member. So, they probably could do a realistic show every year where they recruited a new member.
2. Since the person that won the show the first season never joined the group, it certainly isn't unrealistic that they would still be in search of a new member.
3. And this is the biggest point of all with respect to your statement: this season wasn't about trying to find a new member for the Pussycat Dolls. Instead, this season was about forming a new band entirely (called 'Girlicious'). So, the show was more like one of those MTV 'Making the Band' seasons.
The PI Feedback is becoming a place for games. Games about TV and the ratings. Here are what we have available going into the May Sweeps.
The Daily Game Each day we pick one show and you guess how many Total Viewers it will get and it's 18-49 demo rating. Accumulate Medals to see how well you can do with the other players.
The PI Feedback Challenge This game, you pick 5 shows, one from each network, that you will think will do the best over a 4 week period. Play more games and make a run for the PIFC Cup, a "season" long race for who does best in the PIFC. New Games debut on Thursdays/Fridays of each week.
The PI Feedback Challenge May Sweeps Game An extention of the PI Feedback Challenge game. For the may Sweeps, there is a new twist. Each day you can best up to 20 Berman Bucks, based on what you think the 18-49 ratings will be for the shows you select. The winner will be the person who has the most Berman Bucks at the end of the May Sweeps.
The PI Feedback Challenge May Sweeps Game With this game, all you need to do is predict how well you think each of the 6, yes 6 networks will do during the may sweeps.
Enter your guesses on total Average viewers and the final 18-49 rating average for ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC and MyTV.

This is true, as is the statement that CSI:NY does better when both shows air new eps.
But, my question is, for how much longer?
CSI:NY used to beat L&O convincingly. Now, not nearly as much. CSI:NY came back from the strike below even it's lowered numbers from earlier this season. At the same time, L&O has come out of the strike (due to it's January premier instead of fall) very strong.
A declining weakest-CSI-link vs a reinvigorated L&O franchise? I think that it's *possible* that before very long L&O may actually beat CSI head-to-head.

L&O is far from being toast. You are right that NBC is giving it no support, however.
In fact, I'm guessing that if it had a decent lead-in (NOT the second half of Deal and NOT USA-network-throwaway L&O:CI repeats) it would actually BEAT CSI:NY. Let's face it, if Criminal Minds didn't exist, and CBS was putting BB in front of CSI:NY, how well do you think it would do??? If L&O was "toast" it would have crumbled (pardon the pun) by now, out there on it's own. But it's able to rebound from these pathetic lead-ins and actually give CSI:NY a run for it's money.

Actually the return of new shows on cbs weds happened two weeks ago. And the results are solid, but nothing to write home about.
Before I get into the Wednesday results, let me begin by talking about Carly Smithson’s exit on American Idol last night. While nothing at this point should ever be a surprise to any of us, Carly leaving before Brooke White and Jason Castro is just an abomination. While I can sort of understand the giggly teens voting for John Travolta in dreadlocks, who the heck is supporting this Carly Simon wannabe? Folks…I just don’t get it. Do you?
I agree to a point, Marc. The elimination was before-her-time (Carly wasn't going to win, but based on vocal ability she should've been in the Top 4 at least with the Davids and Syesha... if not the Top 3 with the Davids), and especially surprising given the fact that she was one of the, if not the, best on Tuesday. The abominable thing about last night's elimination for me was that the Bottom Two was all wrong given the performances. When you have Jason and Brooke (both of whom have performed well at points this season, and were clearly way outside their comfort zone on Tuesday) doing abhorrent performances... you don't expect NEITHER of them to be in the bottom group. Because, often, the Idol viewers/voters get it right... we forget that the show is a popularity contest to many extents.
As for Brooke... the judges helped her stay on by getting her some sympathy votes after her performance. I really like Brooke when she's doing her thing (her "Let It Be" is a highlight of this season) and when she isn't saying "it's okay, it's okay" as the judges give her critiques (which she has largely stopped doing).
Travis, good analysis. I think a lot of people actually like having a "Carly Simon wannabe" or someone as unique as Jason on the show, instead of trotting out the same Mariah or Cristina-lites we typically get over and over. They both had a lousy week, but they've also both had very strong weeks as well. This season is interesting, because you don't have a Sanjaya-type character that is widely ridiculed week after week. For the most part, the singers remaining have been showered with praise off and on throughout the season.
These eliminations are difficult to predict. Tough weeks sometimes cause the fanbase to rally stronger than in the past, and good weeks tend to make the fanbase become complacent - thus leading to surprising eliminations.
L&O is far from being toast. You are right that NBC is giving it no support, however.
Yeah, it's only renewing L&O for a 19th season, is all.
Does NBC really want to tie up all that money, and all that airtime, for three more seasons of mediocre ratings and pointless repetition, so Dick Wolf can tell his grandchildren he beat Gunsmoke's record for longest-running U.S. network primetime drama?
I've heard some pretty bad arguments for renewal, but that may top the list.
The worst thing that could have happened to Carly was singing well last week. If she had sung poorly, her fans would have flocked to the phone lines to save her. Instead, Brook and Jason's fans rushed to save them, and Carly got eliminated. Luckily for me, I hate Carly.
While Brook and Jason aren't great singers, they sing a style of music I like. So I'd rather have them on the show than Carly, who doesn't sing a style of music I like. Also, Carly is pure evil.
Does anyone have the numbers for Under One Roof on My Network? I watched it. It was far worse than I could have imagined. Flav might not be the worst actor on the show, and that is not a complement to Flav. The writing is the worst I've ever seen on a show that was actually trying (wait, are they trying?). The characters are just rip-offs of the characters from Fresh Prince, except even more one dimensional and cartoonish. My favorite is the nerdy son who always wears a bowtie, even when in his underwear. Oh, and it also has what I hope is the most offensive character on television today: a Chinese maid with an exaggerated accent that actually said "me so horny."
This show is lucky I love me some Flavor (from his Public Enemy days, not the recent VH1 garbage). I'll be tuning in to watch the train wreck every week. "Me and my kid brother both grew up. He was the good one, I was the screw up." Flav's still got it!
NBC moved into the winner’s circle at 10 p.m., with veteran Law & Order at a healthy 12.63 million viewers and a 3.7/10 among adults 18-49.
L&O should be moved back into the fall lineup. It's a total disgrace NBC treats this veteran show that brought the net many viewers, publicity and awards the way it does. L&O is still going strong, with the best season in a long time and a very solid cast and they have the numbers to show for.
One thing I will say is I am really starting to buy Obveeus's time slot thing with the 8:00 sitcoms. Look at BTY and TD. One grows by about a million viewers and the demo from the other. Since they switched time slots they are switching ratings. It is very similar to Monday nights with BBT/HIMYM. It almost does not matter which show goes where. Whatever show goes at 8:30 inevitably beats the 8:00 show.
I agree with you, Marc and others that are stunned at Carly's premature and unfair elimination. To quote the inimitable Simon Cowell, this is, SUPPOSED TO BE a "SINGING competition." Unfortunately, as the Sanjaya debacle of last season, and now the Jason debacle of this season proves, it's simply not. It is a popularity contest weighted down by screaming tweens who wouldn't know a good singer from a bad singer, as long as he's cute. And Jason is cute. Dumb, but cute. As for Brooke, the secret of her ongoing largely undeserved success is her humility, likability and how she wears her emotions on her sleeve. Americans like that. Carly's tattoos, her Irish lilt, her sass--it was just a matter of time before those things took her out, but it shouldn't have been last night. Those of us who sat there pole-axed, can comfort ourselves with the career trajectory of other 'losers' Chris Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson vs 'winners' like Taylor Hicks. I suspect Carly's got her record deal all but signed. But, a night like this does affect the credibility of the show; eventually, relying on "America" to pick its winner could prove to be the Achilles heel of IDOL. At least in Dancing w/the Stars, the judges have SOME say in the matter!

At least when Michael Johns went home he had an off week and went first so it was more understandable, even though he clearly went home way too early. I'm so over Jason and Brooke, their performances are the same every week and I really dont care to hear them sing anymore.
