That's going to be it for me too. I'll watch Cougar Town the first week, but I don't plan on watching it after that. I'll probably DVR Hank at 8pm then watch it at 9:30, while watching Glee either online or DVR it.
I think if ABC has successful shows launch in the fall, you'll just see 4 or 6 episodes of some midseason stuff and then if it works, they'll find homes for those shows the next season and air remaining eps then. Summer is definitely another option, but launch stuff right away. Do not wait until August to launch a summer drama.

I think overall, while ABC should have a successful season, they are taking on way too many projects that they just don't have room for.
As far as the comedies go, from what I've read, Modern Family is definately the best reviewed. The Middle and Cougar Town has gotten mixed reviews and Hank has gotten mostly negative ones (but they do point out that it has gotten retooled). I think Cougar Town would have been best paired with Romantically Challenged as they both have women in trouble leanings and the two audiences should blend very well. I'm seeing a similar audience for Hank/The Middle but not really for Modern Family and Cougar Town. That being said, Courtney Cox and the concept should be a big enough draw that it can swim alone for a bit until something else can be paired with it.
Interesting point that you made about the counter programming of CBS' and ABC's comedies. I didn't even think of that with the scheduling. It does make sense.

Interesting article. It seems as of late, The Middle and Modern Family are coming out on top as the top comedies. The Middle has definitely picked up steam, while both Hank and Cougar Town are falling down the list. Too bad ABC isn't repeating The Middle's pilot anytime soon.
Since it is an ABC Studios production, there is a chance that Body Politic could be retooled and picked up. But it would have to at least be recasted since Gabrielle Union is now on Flash Forward and I'm sure the other actors have projects in the works.

I agree. The spoiler article says that they are launching the new shows during May Sweeps, so it seems like they are planning on launching them early, even before USA Network and TNT gets started. Not a bad idea.

At least initially, my Wednesday nights are full. It seems that networks really aggressively programmed this night.
8:00 America's Next Top Model 8:00 Hank 8:30 The Middle 9:00 The Beautiful Life: TBL (isn't this redundant? It's like saying CSI: Miami MIA) 9:00 Modern Family 9:30 Cougar Town 10:00 The League (if it ends up here on F/X. Might end up on Thursdays).

i think that its not abc studios production.i saw the pilot and at the end it has the cbs paramount studios logo!and i think that the cw order pilots only from cbs and wb since 2008 for economy reasons.also gabrielle union is not a regular on FF. she is still recurring.
I think that the Wednesday comedies could be a very interesting ABC vs. CBS battle. I could see a lot of ticket splitting here. I think Gary Unmarried days of just having to hold the Christine audience could be over. There could be lots of people that watch Christine and then switch over to The Middle, or maybe even Hank and then Gary. Should be very interesting.
MyNetworkTV Is First on Fridays for the Second Time Ever!
Despite losing about a half-dozen affiliates to 'NFL Pre-Season Football, MyNetworkTV's 'WWE Friday Night Smackdown' finished in first place on Friday September 4th, its very first clear outright nightly triumph (its previous first place was a tie with NBC).
The 3,410,000 P2+ viewers and 1.2 A18-49 were the highest levels reached by 'WWE Friday Night Smackdown' since Friday April 17th.
Way to smack 'em down, MyNetworkTV!
MyNetworkTV won the first place ribbon for ranking tops in A18-49s last Friday for the second time this summer.
