The Glee pilot is good enough that it probably would've pulled more viewers on its own without the Twitter aspect, although it was a unique idea. I'm still impressed after watching 3 times with how well written the dialogue is at times. Very fast paced and excellent music.

The thing about the AYSTAFG & Glee is that Glee is very young skewing while AYSTAFG skews older. They had similar demos with Glee getting half the audience. So, that whole lineup didn't work out last night.
CBS' should have the most stable Friday lineup they've had in years. Flashpoint did okay but was still losing the audience and demo. Moonlight didn't work out, no matter what the fans tell you, and Close to Home was ancient skewing. Medium proved last night that it can hold onto the audience and demo.
And agreed on FOX - although, their fall Friday lineup is basically the same scenario, lol.
To be fair, I believe Close to Home was doing over 10 million/2.5 in the demo towards the end of its run. We'll see if Medium can match that number.
Well, we already that will not happen. CTH was 3-4 years ago. Numbers everywhere have fallen since then.
The decision to cancel Close to Home was one of CBS' most disappointing and absurd move, especially when it was the highest rated show on Friday nights 2 years ago.
Luckily for them, though, both GW and Numb3rs have grown to be just as big hits. If GW can do the 10 million+ it was doing last fall, there is a chance Medium can do very similar numbers.
It was a WB show for CBS. I wonder if WB wanted a higher license fee than CBS was willing to pay for on a Friday schedule.

About the ABC Sitcomsonline updates on their inside information (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?p=4286472#post4286472):
I'm glad that ABC will be airing original dramas in the summer. They are right, repeats don't work. But will this be regular originals or international co-productions like Copper, which they already ordered? Personally, I'm hoping for less international co-productions since Defying Gravity didn't work for them.
Comedies during the Olympics? It's a huge risk. To me, it seems like a burnoff. The Winter Olympics are huge business. I can't see them doing very well.
It seems like ABC is expecting almost everything to work. And looking at their placement and scheduling, all of their new shows have a chance of being a success. 2009 could definately be like their 2004 season. I'm thinking at least three of their new comedies will make it past 13 (possibly all four since they are using comedies during the Olympics), along with V, Flash Forward, and one of The Forgotten/Eastwick. That leaves a space for Lost, The Deep End, and Happy Town along with the space in between DWTS seasons.
Castle merging with DWTS makes sense since they are really trying to blend the two audiences. I just don't know how successful that will be.
Grey's with PP makes sense also. Those two need to continue being connected. However, I wish ABC picked up Inside The Box. That way, they could have three shows that flow into each other.
It seems to me, that ABC is really trying to challenge FOX and CBS for the top. They are getting very aggressive while FOX and CBS kind of took a back seat this year and went with conservative schedules. This is the correct year for a charge.

Agreed - like I said there, I hope we see more summer-related scripted dramas like Swingtown on ABC next summer. They mentioned they wanted to resemble shows like Desperate Housewives, so its a possibility.
Comedies during Olympics - the expectations for Scrubs and Better Off Ted are low to begin with, so airing them during the Olympics would be okay counterprogramming. We'll probably see Romantically Challenged paired with The Bachelor, since I can't see it airing anywhere else.
Their schedule is definitely jampacked, though. I bet we won't see Copper until summer. If The Forgotten and Eastwick end up working, where will shows like Lost and eventually The Deep End and Happy Town go? I do think they will give all 4 comedies the entire season to grow, though. They also have those 2 comedy pilots that may be ready to go for midseason that will probably need to be held off.
I think overall, while ABC should have a successful season, they are taking on way too many projects that they just don't have room for.
I definately agree that ABC is taking on a lot of projects. They are definately going to have to do a split schedule and eliminate a lot of repeats to fit it all in.

Even if shows like The Forgotten and Eastwick hit, at least one will need to be removed at midseason at least to give Lost a timeslot. New midseason dramas they have lined may have to wait until March or even pushed back to summer. With a show like Dancing with the Stars taking up 3 hours of the schedule, its hard to schedule so many projects.
What I would like to see ABC do is cut down the DWTS results show to just a half hour. That way, they could make room for Romantically Challanged come March.

You can forget the terrible, short-lived bomb that was last seasons The Ex List
WlcmZapataTexas - Inside The Box was the one show I was praying ABC picked up. It's a shame they passed on it. It's a long shot but maybe they'll consider it for Summer since they want original dramas on next summer.
The CW would never air an original drama in the summer. Maybe next fall, but that's a long shot.

i didnt said that CW will pick it up!!I said maybe abc cause body politic's producers try to promote it to abc but they doesnt have any room for another show so summer 2010 is great solution!!
Interesting article. It seems as of late, The Middle and Modern Family are coming out on top as the top comedies. The Middle has definitely picked up steam, while both Hank and Cougar Town are falling down the list. Too bad ABC isn't repeating The Middle's pilot anytime soon.
Considering Old Christine and The Middle share similar female leads, they may be more compatible with each other than Old Christine/Gary Unmarried or Hank/The Middle.
