I believe 3 years ago, Survivor Pearl Islands (the Jonny Fairplay-my-grandma-died episode) aired the day before Thanksgiving. CBS should do that every year to get a bigger audience for Survivor.

I totally agreed with this when I saw that all the stations were scheduling new episodes of these shows last week in TV Guide. However, I am a single man who had my father, sister and brother and their respective families over last night. AFter dinner and dessert, my sister said, "OH, at 8PM can we watch Ugly Betty--STephanie(my 14 year old niece) loves the show and we watch it as a family". Now I watch UB anyway, however it was such a treat to watch it as a "family" last night and to see how my niece really could relate to her and the show. It was an extraordinary experience to see and I may have missed it if UB had been a repeat last night. So, even though it was a waste of an episode, it was a very touching, and ever lasting moment for me. So, I for one, am glad that the networks showed new episodes as it allowed me to experience something I haven't experienced in a long time--a child's love for a show and TV character and a family get together to watch a show(haven't experienced this since I was a child). Truly a miracle of love to see.

OK Marc--too broad of a statement. ARe you tired of the show or of her the person in particular?? Please enumerate--I love the show--has a lot of heart which most shows on TV are devoid of.

Hey Marc,
Thanks for being here on your days off. You should be in Tahiti or Aruba or someplace else but anyplace else but here. However, it is nice to see you here on your days off.
Yes, I had a blast yesterday. Me and my siblings are a very tight knit group(just like the siblings on B&S) and I am totally involved as an Uncle with the nieces and nephews. So, it was a great experience for me. Unfortunately, I do agree about the new episodes however for me it worked out great. Hope all is well with you. Back to the ratings. Sorry for getting all schmaltzy.
I feel like this tale of an underdog won't have long-term legs.
That's what I meant before by them doing too much too quickly. She's already adapted to her job so (nearly) effortlessly and won over the "villains" with her charm, gumption, and backbone. The only thing they make fun of is her look.
She was offered a job last night at a different magazine in the company last night, where she would be able to write and would probably not have to deal with the glamazons. They need to come up with a really convincing reason for her staying at Mode and with Daniel Meade, more than just "I can't abandon it/him yet". If she's so amazing... is it believable that she's still be Daniel's assistant even next season!? Will she move up in the magazine?

Marc:
You may be right. Although I like the show, I think that it wins because of the weak competition in the time slot.
If Fox does the smart thing and moves "House" there in the new year, the ugliest thing "Betty" will be her ratings.
8:00pm Thursday is wide open.
How is 8:00 on Thursdays weak competition? Granted, Survivor is not the powerhouse it used to be but it still averages 15m/ep (about 2M above UB) and is usually in the top 12 in demos. In addition, you have a strong young female demo with UB (usually wins 18-34 F demo) and decent young male demo in the Earl/Office combo.
I'm not saying House (I love this show) wouldn't win the hour because it would. I'm just questioning your statement about there being weak competition.
Besides, I don't think it would be UB that takes the biggest hit from House. Survivor and the NBC comedy duo would probably take a bigger hit since they skew more male.
