Debate's numbers show the overnights are hardly indicative. But still 10 million is not bad
Seeing as that its still facing nothing, CSI:NY should be doing better. Put it in an actual competitive timeslot and it would probably fail to hit 10 million. Pretty sad when Criminal Minds is holding you up despite facing Idol.
WOW. It does numbers that are on average from the Fall and you still predict doom & gloom.
Never mind that it grew from its lead in (you stated that it was leadin dependent). Or that it grew about a million viewers from last week.
Here is my best AL impression --

Not disputing the week to week growth. Not disputing its growth from the lead in, but am going to continue to say that this program is not a hit and a time period move that may happen this fall will probably take off at least 2 to 3 million viewers regardless of lead in. CM I will give you is strong. Against Idol, that number is alright. But against Men in Trees and a Law and Order repeat, that's not positive. Let's just see what happens in a few weeks when L&O originals return. Then we can talk about this show's "strength".

I think American Idol should start off the night on FOX followed by the two comedies. It would help increase the average for FOX and the comedies. Put Til Death right after AI, it's much better then B2Y.
CM had good numbers last night. I thought last night's episode was good too.
I checked out Under One Roof, and I was a bit disappointed. It seemed like they were trying a bit too hard. However, I will tune in next week. Can't wait to see the numbers!
VOTE IN THE PIF NETWORK GAME: http://pifeedback.com/eve/foru...93910104/m/880107182 TONIGHT: ---> NEW <--- EPISODES OF KILLER ISLAND, AND GETTING SOME. PLUS: DRACULA, FALLING WITH STYLE, MEGA DODGEBALL, GATED COMMUNITY, ROSIE, AND LIFE HAPPENS!
While American Idol still gets incredibly ratings, it is down significantly. Instead of being an unstoppable powerhouse, it's now reaching DH/GA/CSI levels. Counter-programming choices next year could be more agressive than in the past.
CSI: NY is up this week. Still, it will be interesting to see what happens in two weeks when it's against a new L&O and Boston Legal's post-strike premiere.

I don't know if I would use the word "Hit" either. But it is a top 15 show. I do expect L&O to take a bite out of it. They are going after the exact same audience.
As for the loss of 2-3 million viewers with a possible time period change, it would depend on the new time period. Some new slots would be tougher on it. But this could be said about 98% of all the shows on TV right now. Move them and their ratings may be negatively affected.
It's true that a year or two ago under the same conditions NY would have done another 1-1.5mm.
Also true this long term weakening makes it vulnerable to losing this key time period
But within the short-term framework it's in I would score last nite a "par"

The key would be if there was any crime drama competition.
At this stage it would have a rough time with L&O SVU even with a decent lead in
But assuming COLD CASE doesn't go through the floor next year and gets back to a solid 12mm, NY could do 13mm at 9pm Sunday and easily clear 3.0 but 3.5 would be tough

It seems like every day there is a discussion on how this show is down and that show is down. Isn't it just that time of year (daylight savings time) when most shows are just down ? Especially, the 8:00 hour shows.

Ditto, ditto, ditto. It's still tops in the demo, but losing 1/5th of your entire demographic audience? That should be setting off alarm bells at FOX. And if the other networks are smart, they're smelling blood.
They should definately be agressive next year. And because of that, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw double digit declines in the demo again next year. (even so, it will be the number one show, however)
I have to give props to CBS' procedurals. They actually did respectable last night. Granted, not-a-player NBC is COMPLETELY out of it because of the strike (and would probably be the network airing the most similar fare). But the numbers are still alright.
Men In Trees is simply pathetic. Wow. 1.6 in the demo? When will ABC realize that this show has a small following and WILL NOT GROW.
Back to you was quite disappointing. This is their grand return? This is what it's capable of without Idol as a lead in. Pretty sad.
As for 'Til Death... terrible. Wow, this is THEIR grand return?? This is what it's capable of without Idol as a lead in. VERY sad.
