Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Also, since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 9 percent in early 2006-07 to approximately 20 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.

-Ratings Breakdown: CBS was the most-watched network on this first Sunday in 2007, while ABC and CBS were tied for No. 1 among adults 18-49 -- one-tenth of a rating point ahead of NBC. Fox finished an uneventful fourth in both categories, while the CW plummeted to an historically low Sunday.
Due to a late-start in primetime due to an NFL Football overrun, all program results for CBS are approximate and appear as follows by half hour:
CBS 7:00 p.m. NFL AFC Wild Card Game – Viewers: 28.09 million (#1), A18-49: 9.4 rating/25 share (#1) 7:30 p.m. NFL/Post-Game/60 Minutes – Viewers: 20.77 million (#1), A18-49: 6.0/15 (#1) 8:00 p.m. 60 Minutes – Viewers: 17.86 million (#1), A18-49: 4.9/12 (#1) 8:30 p.m. 60 Minutes/Amazing Race 12 – Viewers: 14.29 million (#1), A18-49: 4.4/10 (#2) 9:00 p.m. Amazing Race 12 – Viewers: 11.54 million (#3), A18-49: 3.4/ 8 (#3) 9:30 p.m. Amazing Race 12/Cold Case – Viewers: 10.95 million (#3), A18-49: 2.9/ 6 (#3) 10:00 p.m. Cold Case – Viewers: 10.44 million (#3), A18-49: 2.5/ 6 (#3) 10:30 p.m. Cold Case/Shark R – Viewers: 9.34 million (#3), A18-49: 2.2/ 6 (#3)
ABC kicked-off the evening with America’s Funniest Home Videos (Viewers: #3, 8.25 million; A18-49: #2t, 2.4/ 6) at 7 p.m., followed by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (Viewers: #2, 12.66 million; A18-49: #2, 4.7/11), Desperate Housewives (Viewers: #1, 19.77 million; A18-49: #1, 7.2/16) and the debut/preview of Cashmere Mafia at 10 p.m. (Viewers: #2, 10.72 million; A18-49: #2, 3.8/ 9). A couple of notes about ABC’s line-up last night:
1. The best thing about Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was psychic Jeffrey Wands (www.jeffreywands.com). Trust me…he needs a show of his own. 2. The scene when Lynette’s kids miraculously appeared out of the rubble on Desperate Housewives reminded me of the time when Brady patriarch Mike came out of the cave with barely a scratch on A Very Brady Christmas. I was expecting Susan, Bree and Gabby to break out in Christmas Carols. 3. Retention for Cashmere Mafia out of Desperate Housewives was disappointing at just 54 percent in total viewers and 53 percent among adults 18-49. 4. Don’t we all miss Brothers & Sisters?
Moving to NBC, the Peacock net opened with a two-hour installment of Deal or No Deal (Viewers: #3, 10.41 million; A18-49: #3, 3.0/ 7). That led into the two-hour debut of the American Gladiators remake at a very respectable 12.04 million viewers (#2) and a 5.9/14 among adults 18-49 (#1 overall) from 9-11 p.m. Take a look at the half-hour break down of American Gladiators and note that the audience apparently liked what they saw:
American Gladiators (NBC) 9:00 p.m. Viewers: 11.98 million (#2), A18-49: 5.5/12 (#2) 9:30 p.m. Viewers: 12.29 million (#2), A18-49: 6.0/13 (#2) 10:00 p.m. Viewers: 11.64 million (#2), A18-49: 5.9/14 (#1) 10:30 p.m. Viewers: 12.25 million (#1), A18-49: 6.1/16 (#1)
ABC’s Cashmere Mafia, in contrast, dipped by 2.09 million viewers (11.76 to 9.67 million) and 15 percent among adults 18-49 (4.1/10 to 3.5/ 9) at 10:30 p.m.
Fox finished an uneventful fourth with its combination of two repeat episodes of American Dad (Viewers: #4, avg. 4.10 million; A18-49: #4, avg. 1.9/ 5), The Simpsons (Viewers: #4, 8.15 million; A18-49: #4, #3, 3.9/ 9), King of the Hill (Viewers: #4, 7.04 million; A18-49: #4, 3.3/ 8), a repeat of Family Guy (Viewers: #4, 6.15 million; A18-49: #4, 2.9/ 7) and the regularly scheduled edition of American Dad (Viewers: #4, 5.19 million; A18-49: #4, 2.4/ 5).
Last, and very least, was the CW’s now historically low combination of CW Now (Viewers: 645,000; A18-49: 0.2/ 1), a repeat of Aliens in America (Viewers: 679,000; A18-49: 02./ 1), Life is Wild (Viewers: 847,000; A18-49: 0.3/ 1) and a repeat of Crowned (Viewers: 860,000; A18-49: 0.3/ 1). Ouch!

Fantastic showing for American Gladiators. Monday will be the true test for American Gladiators but I have a feeling NBC has a huge hit on their hands. Very impressive numbers so far.
That's not good when Cashmere Mafia can barely hold half of the audience of DH and the dip at the half way mark isn't good either.
EMHE holds up well in repeats which is good for ABC since almost everything else doesn't.
Once the strike ends, FOX needs to shake up it's animation lineup.
The sad thing is I don't think CW's numbers will get much better on Sunday with the comedy repeats. They are doomed for poor numbers.
Cannot wait for Brothers & Sisters' return next week! This will be the first time it's aired without Desperate Housewives as a lead-in since December 2006. It will be interesting to see if it can hold onto the 12 million viewers and mid-to-high 4s in the demo that its scored all season no matter what fluctuations there were in Desperate's ratings.
The numbers for American Gladiator do show considerable interest... doesn't mean *I* have to like it, though! I'm pulling for a Bionic Woman-styled drop-off starting with tonight's regular time period showing...

AMAZING RACE should fall into winners for the great rebound from the last two weekends that slumped with the holidays, ect. It's very strange to see it besting COLD CASE (which I love also) in terms of viewers lately.
There's a special place in hell for the CBS executives that had so little faith in TAR that they didn't have two editions waiting in the pipe and now when its on a roll again it will disapear just as if it were one of the scripted programs.
I wish AMERICAN DAD wasn't up against killer competition. It's a great show that deserves more than 5 million watching it....
Wow on AMERICAN GLADIATORS. What a huge debut for NBC. The Peacock want might to consider leaving it there - and starting it at 9pm - rather than shifting it to Monday.
8PM DEAL OR NO DEAL 9PM AMERICAN GLADIATORS 10PM A TBD MALE DRAMA
That way they can try and keep the male audience they have from NFL ...

Looks like the fans of the Animation block defected over to NBC to watch American Gladiators. Those Demo numbers are pretty low for original episodes. Well below their average.
quote:
Well, the demos for AG were great, and it held up from hour 1 to hour 2...let's see how it does tonight with perhaps some stiffer competition (Dance War I don't know about, it could be going to the well too many times- and the BCS game doesn't actually kickoff until 8:15-8:30 or so)...
TAR did well too, especially since all the regular viewers of the show knew this was a non-elimination round (And the 3 hour deficit TK/Rachel have probably is made up in the airport)....but I have a sick feeling that all the whining Nate/Jennifer have done about not winning a leg is forshadowing that the ONLY leg they win is the million dollar one....
