-Adults 18-49:
Fox: 3.1 rating/10 share, NBC: 2.1/ 7, CBS: 1.6/ 5, ABC: 1.5/ 5, CW: 0.4/ 1

----------

-Yesterday’s Winners:
So You Think You Can Dance (Fox)

-Yesterday’s Losers (Excluding Repeats):
Celebrity Circus (NBC)

----------

-Repeat Alert:
54 percent of last night’s schedule was non-originals.

----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
Fox led the Wednesday troops care of another edition of summer favorite So You Think You Can Dance at a very respectable (and dominant) 8.73 million viewers and a 3.1 rating/10 share among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown:

So You Think You Can Dance (Fox)
8:00 p.m. Viewers: 7.95 million (#1), A18-49: 2.9/10 (#1)
8:30 p.m. Viewers: 8.83 million (#1), A18-49: 3.2/11 (#1)
9:00 p.m. Viewers: 9.10 million (#1), A18-49: 3.3/10 (#1)
9:30 p.m. Viewers: 9.04 million (#1), A18-49: 3.2/ 9 (#1)

CBS finished second overall in total viewers and third among adults 18-49 with its encore combination of The Price is Right (Viewers: #2, 7.75 million; A18-49: #3, 1.5/ 5), Criminal Minds (Viewers: #2, 7.83 million; A18-49: #3, 1.5/ 4), which has a potential spin-off in the works, and CSI: NY (Viewers: #1, 8.88 million; A18-49: #2t, 1.8/ 5). NBC was just the opposite -- third in total viewers and second among adults 18-49 -- care of a repeat of Baby Borrowers (Viewers: #3, 4.54 million; A18-49: #2, 1.6/ 6), an original installment of Baby Borrowers (Viewers: #3, 6.78 million; A18-49: #2, 2.8/ 8), and lackluster Celebrity Circus (Viewers: #3, 5.11 million; A18-49: #1, 1.9/ 6), one of the new flops this summer. Peanuts…get your rating peanuts! Comparably, Baby Borrowers was on par with its week-ago performance.

Fourth-place ABC had a typically bland summer Wednesday with its line-up of a repeat of Wife Swap (Viewers: #4, 3.88 million; A18-49: #4, 1.3/ 4), a repeat of Supernanny (Viewers: #4, 4.17 million; A18-49: #4, 1.4/ 4), which is not so “super,” and Primetime: Crime (Viewers: #2, 6.01 million; A18-49: #2t, 1.8/ 5). Comparably, Primetime: Crime increased by 1.64 million viewers and 20 percent among adults 18-49 out of the second-half of encore lead-in Supernanny (Viewers: 4.37 million; A18-49: 1.5/ 4 at 9:30 p.m.). Don’t forget that Wife Swap and Supernanny move into the Friday 8-10 p.m. block this fall.

Capping off the evening were repeats of the CW’s America’s Next Top Model (Viewers: #5, 1.12 million; A18-49: #5, 0.5/ 2) and Pussycat Dolls: Girlicious (Viewers: 944,000; A18-49: #5, 0.4/ 1). Yes, it’s the summer. But the CW could have at least tried to program more aggressively.

Not bad summer numbers for the crime dramas. I do hope a CM spin off does happen.

Otherwise, a pretty boring Wednesday on the tube.

I'll add kudos for Price is Right as well. Those are decent numbers for repeats.

FOX #1 in A18-49 After One Week of 2008 July Sweep

After one week of the July Sweep, FOX holds a comfortable first place lead over ABC and NBC in A18-49 with a 2.0 A18-49 average. ABC and NBC are tied in second, each with a 1.7 average. CBS is fourth with 1.3, The CW fifth with 0.5 and MyNetworkTV is last with a 0.3 average. Year-over-year, only ABC is up in A18-49's, whereas all the other networks are showing A18-49 declines from last July.

After six nights, CBS holds on to its customary lead in viewership, with NBC ranking second and FOX third. In viewers, only ABC and NBC are showing year-over-year increases compared to last years July Sweep.

I will provide an update later today when households and MyNetworkTV numbers become available .

Nota Bene. This year's Sweep includes the low-HUT Fourth of July whereas last year's Sweep started on July 5th and did not include the Fourth of July.

It's just sad to se that The CW doesn't even try to keep their (small) audience hooked during the summer with some original programming. Now they have to do so much promotion off-air to get people to know that their shows are coming back in September and that 90210 is returning to the airwaves on The CW. In my opinion it's just plain stupid. They could have at least tried to do something in the summer. And please renew the Gossip Girl billboard on Times Square, it still says the show is returning April 21 with the huge OMFG above it.
I really want The CW to do good, but something is just always off with the network. They have some shows that have the potential to have an average audience, but for some reason it just doesn't happen. It didn't happen with Gossip Girl last fall, a lot of people predicted it would score higher than ANTM. But it dissappointed. And I really hope it doesn't happen with 90210 and Surviving the Filty Rich again.

A spin off of CM? Hmmm..I tried the show a couple of times but could not get into it. The main cast just isn't likable enough.

Now COLD CASE...that I would like to see a spin off from. In fact what they should do is make it follow the activities a cold case squad in the 1930's that way we could have cases reaching as far back as into the 19th century. So many interesting stories you could do...like the murder of a TITANIC survivor and they could flashback to sinking ect...that would be a fun spinoff.

Dancing with the Stars to Tango with Gay Twist?

The latest buzz has Lance Bass signed on to samba — but here's the possible wrinkle: Sources tell the New York Daily News that producers might pair the openly gay 'NSYNC alum with a male pro. Not that there's anything wrong with that. — Matt Mitovich

I feel exactly the other way around. I like the CM cast, but find the CC cast not likeable at all, particularly Lily. I watch the show on occasion when I have nothing else to watch, because I DVR it. But I woudln't cry if it got cancelled. You should really watch the 3rd season finale when it re-airs this summer, it was one of the best eps I've ever seen of a procuderal. And it will continue this September for the conclusion after the cliffhanger.

Ditto on the CRIMINAL MINDS season 3 finale.

Its cast didn't dazzle me either but the addition of Paget Brewster and the departure of Patankin helped. I believe Brewster and Shemar Moore could handle larger roles in the show.

Thanks for the suggestion..perhaps I'll give it another try. As for COLD CASE's Lily...she's got a lot of walls built up around her because of her back story so I can see how she might be hard to like but when they give glimpses into her personal life she's pretty cool (taking care of crippled cats ect)& the rest of the cast look and feel like they could be real cops.

Why is the CW not airing the reality series 13?

According to the press release from the CW back in March it says this: "13" (working title), a spine-tingling new eight-episode series combining the horror genre with a reality show format, will premiere in the summer of 2008"

Yet nothing has been announced. The CW should put this on Wednesday night's. If they put that on at 9 and something else at 8, they could get close to 4th place for the night. Right now, there not even trying.

Though I see what you mean with Lily and the real cop stuff. I still don't think it's a great cast. To me Paget Brewster is a far better actress than Kathryn Morris.

I agree, I didn't know what to think of Paget in her earlier eps, after she replaced Lola Glaudini. But she really got better after those early eps. And I totally didn't get the addition of Joe Mantegna. But after the ep where they finally resolved the old case where he worked on for so long. He really showed vunlerability, which I always like in actors/actresses.

There's already a spin-off of Cold Case in the works with a different setup.

And would such a show be realistic and in touch with the general viewing population?

The last thing CBS needs is another crime drama.

A spinoff of a program that's already peaked is not what we need. Especially another cut and dried crime show like Criminal Minds. Now the Mentalist, on the other hand, and even 11th Hour look to have some sort of actual life to their characters so here's to that show doing well.
