California could end up setting a precedent for the rest of the country as well; outlawing most digital billboards before they take over the world.

It's a shame, too, because I love the digital billboards! They definitely grab my attention because, well, they change every several seconds or so (one I saw two weekends ago cycled through about 10 different Fox show ads...) and it lets you update the image from (i.e.) Thursdays 8pm to "Tomorrow 8pm" and "Tonight 8pm". It's dynamic. Anyway, enough of that.

I think BONES' performance in both hours was extremely impressive.

And the 8pm ep was hilarious.

Me too. A billboard that can be updated 'instantly' as frequently as needed is a fantastic idea.

...which is apparently the problem. Billboards that work are dangerous. I once knew someone that got in a car accident because they were busy staring at the picture of a 'hot chick' on a billboard.

Just think, soon, they could actually be capable of showing FOX network live onto the billboard. TVs everywhere! Max Hedroom would become reality.

Ah well, I guess we will have to settle for a future of digital 'billboards' on the side of our cereal boxes, but not on the side of our roadways.

Nobody questions which show is going up and which is headed down, but THE MENTALIST cannot truly be the future of the network since it cannot really be duplicated the way CSI was.

It may prompt CBS to look at more single character centric shows, but the number of tv stars who can carry a show to these levels are few and far betweeen.

So has CSI 'on average'...and CSI actually pulls in some decent demos as well.

it was doing fine in the fall with the big guest stars and when Tina fey was everywhere. now it seems to have sunk back to where it was last season (even last night was one of the funnier episodes). I dont think it would perform better in another slot

Agreed, but Fey has become too central to the network's promotional efforts for them to axe it right away.

Seriously, she ought to have her own show, but it shouldn't be THIS show.
I tuned in to NBC last night just in time to see Palin Fey in her bra. The show simply isn't funny. Hopefully, the new Amy poeler sitcom will be a step up and it can be slotted in after The Office. 30 Rock can then be demoted to the post-Earl spot.
I agree that 30 Rock is not funny. I do not understand why such a big deal is made about the show when it doesn't get many viewers. I understand lower rated network shows can be well made, and it can appeal to a small group of people. Such shows can win an award every once in a while. But does it make sense to act like it's the greatest show ever and give it awards year after year when not many people are watching? I don't see how this can be justified.

Does anyone know about any kind of backlash regarding 30 Rock, or the rolling of the eyes reaction to their awards since its viewership numbers aren't that great?

3 others sources indicate 7.5 or 7.54 million pour "Ygly Betty", but Marc wrote 7.40 million. What number is exact ?

If award shows understood (or even cared about) viewer sentiment, then you would have seen a bunch of Oscar nominations in the major categories for The Dark Knight this year.

UB the end is near!

Not really. The show will go on for two more seasons beyond the third season. The show won't get cancelled this season, as it's not ABC's biggest problem (yet) and even if the ratings go down even more in season four, they probably give it a fifth season for syndication purposes, as the show belongs to ABC studios. I wouldn't mind if the show ended next season after a 4-year-run. I still enjoy the show, but I don't think it can go beyond 5 seasons and 4 seasons seems like a good time to be on the air.

BONES did really well. FOX will keep the show there now, unless the ratings go down dramatically in upcoming weeks. I don't understand why people watch the show, but I'm happy for FOX to have a bit of success. If only DOLLHOUSE would get similiar ratings. A boy can dream...lol.

Kath & Kim will be replaced by next season.
I hope that NBC would, pun intended, slim Biggest Loser down to maybe one and a half hours and then they could put 30 Rock there. With Jay Leno getting 5 hours of primetime each week, I think they really should consider shortening the show.

That is a very good idea. ABC tried to stay constant and it didn't work for them. ABC has to go with some aggressive scheduling in the fall.

EH is in questionable renewal territory along with The Unit, CC, WAT, GU, and NAOOC. CBS won't renew all of them. In fact, very few will get renewed if CBS has a good pilot season.

Pretty good numbers for Bones considering what FOX has previously gotten on Thursdays for their shows. If the numbers hold in the future, FOX should keep Bones on Thursday.
