Well, it did drop below 11 million last week but it was a top 10 show in the demo which is all that matters. Not to mention that Lost is now virtually tied with CSI for the demo, who could have thought that last year when CSI was consistently getting 1-1.5 more in the demo then Lost.

The only problem is that CSI is watched by 6 millions more people.

The only problem is that advertisers doesnt care about millions.

I thought they had a definitive end point for lost...am I wrong? I thought they had purchased a finite three season contract before the beginning of this season.

I thought it was a good episode. Hey, what happened to all the fanatical Losties who ranted and raved at me when I was all "Lost sucked last night, and it's time for them to give it a definite endpoint"?

Lost was never remotely as good as some people think it was, nor is it as bad as some people think it is now.

It's exactly as good or bad as I think it is, so there.

You're correct: there will be 17 eps (up from 16 due to two eps lost this season because of the writers' strike) each of the next two seasons. Ratings, as a result, aren't that big of a concern because the show will still happen.

However, if the ratings do fall off considerably, you could see a situation where the show gets basically burned off over the summer a la The Drew Carey Show, and the Lost fans most definitely wouldn't want to wait over a year between seasons.

Nobody's talking about Survivor? I'm finding it very entertaining this season.

It was I think a microcosm of the entire show and anyone who did not like this episode chances are that they are not going to like the show as well, there are only a few episodes that provide that kind of a litmus test and last night's episode along with 'The Constant' were this season's litmus test episodes. It is a testament to how good Season 4 has been that 'Cabin Fever' was only rated as the third best episode of the season.

I don't believe the drop off in the half-hour was due to the GA runover. The drop off for LOST at the hal-hour last night was larger than the previous two weeks and there was a Grey's runover in those weeks as well.

UB is getting the exact same numbers that Moonlight gets (but on a Thursday night, which is much worse since expectations are higher), yet I don't see all those naysayers who are blinded by their irrational hatred to Moonlight call for UB's cancellation... Roll Eyes

I'm sorry but UB is doing better in viewers and in demos. I don't call for the cancelation beacause the show is on ABC not on CBS. A 7.9 million show on ABC is good, on CBS is not. And UB does not have a lead-in

where i live (los angeles) ugly betty's lead-in is jeopardy and wheel of fortune...the two strongest game shows by far...betty has a strong lead-in...

You and Justin both live in LA and both have delusional thinkings when it comes to affiliates. My ABC affiliate has Inside Edition as the lead in. I'm sure it finishes about third of fourth in the timeslot. I'm pretty sure in Minneapolis that the low rated ABC local news is the lead in. Betty overll has to start off the night. Everyone knows that 8pm is a very difficult hour right now because there simply aren't the people watching TV. A lot of those people are DVRing, taping, and watching 8pm shows later online. A lot of those viewers will return in the fall.
Moonlight on the other hand, does have a good lead in with Ghost Whisperer. The second biggest lead in nationwide a show can have on a Friday night (the highest rated Friday show also airs right after it). I do not believe Moonlight can survive in a tough timeslot because it will actually have to face something. I honestly don't care if its renewed or not. I don't watch Friday TV for the very reason that its doing well- there's nothing on.

And I call BS on Wheel of Fortune as a strong lead-in. Average age for game shows is, like, dead. Seriously. Ugly Betty or anything that goes at 8 has to be a self-starter in the time period.

On another note, can we have a moratorium on Moonlight discussions on any other nights other than Fridays? Please?

You're right that demos were better for the OC but it never averaged 8 million on Thursdays. It debuted to that and then quickly dropped into lower 7 million viewer range. Season three was 6 million viewers to upper 5 millions when it moved to 9pm against CSI. Season four when it had no lead in and Greys was around it pulled in the 3 million viewer territory. Long term, Fox will get more out of 5th Grader me thinks.

Ouch, the vampires are out to get you mushu

I have a lot of garlic around me, just in case

Vamps don't scare me. The night that I do go out on (Fridays), they're glued to the sets. On another note, I love how he puts down the rural markets. Believe it or not, Wheel is popular here too but just like in LA, its the geezers watching. Those folks wouldn't come near Ugly Betty or Moonlight. Wink

Especially true when they don't stop claiming the show will be back even after it is cancelled. We should all be thankful that NBC found a way to sell FNL off to cable. That way, the FNL fans don't have to act like the Moonlight fans.

Does it really count as 'internet buzz' when it is a few Moonlight fans simply posting over and over again about how great their show is doing?

I have yet to find the hardcore FNL fans to be whiny. They seem to get their situation a bit more and if anything, Fridays hurt their show. This cable thing will be very interesting to watch unfold. If I were the peacock, I would've said you get a one month advanced airing to help keep from people watching eps early on.

I have. They are quite sure that critical acclaim means more than ratings. They are just like the 30 Rock and Arrested Development fans in their inability to understand that 'critical acclaim' does not translate to the show being good (something people want to watch).

NBC would be lucky to only give up one month. Instead, they gave up several months. If FNL has dedicated fans, they will have seen the show through internet means long before it reaches NBC rebroadcast.

Thanks for the finals, Travis.
Lost dropped a half million viewers without the ABC overrun scam.
