Looking at The Futon Critic I noticed that Lost dropped significantly in viewers and the demo at the 1/2 hour (about 14% in each). Is that normal? because of Grey's run-over? Bad episode?

All I can say is the decline of network TV continues. Especially in the 8;00 hour. Look how low the demos are in the 8:00 hour. Younger people no longer watch network TV during the 8:00 hour.

For me it was a bad episode. Boring until the end.

UB is getting the exact same numbers that Moonlight gets (but on a Thursday night, which is much worse since expectations are higher), yet I don't see all those naysayers who are blinded by their irrational hatred to Moonlight call for UB's cancellation... Roll Eyes

I'm sorry but UB is doing better in viewers and in demos. I don't call for the cancelation beacause the show is on ABC not on CBS. A 7.9 million show on ABC is good, on CBS is not. And UB does not have a lead-in

where i live (los angeles) ugly betty's lead-in is jeopardy and wheel of fortune...the two strongest game shows by far...betty has a strong lead-in...

You and Justin both live in LA and both have delusional thinkings when it comes to affiliates. My ABC affiliate has Inside Edition as the lead in. I'm sure it finishes about third of fourth in the timeslot. I'm pretty sure in Minneapolis that the low rated ABC local news is the lead in. Betty overll has to start off the night. Everyone knows that 8pm is a very difficult hour right now because there simply aren't the people watching TV. A lot of those people are DVRing, taping, and watching 8pm shows later online. A lot of those viewers will return in the fall.
Moonlight on the other hand, does have a good lead in with Ghost Whisperer. The second biggest lead in nationwide a show can have on a Friday night (the highest rated Friday show also airs right after it). I do not believe Moonlight can survive in a tough timeslot because it will actually have to face something. I honestly don't care if its renewed or not. I don't watch Friday TV for the very reason that its doing well- there's nothing on.

im in los angeles...one of the biggest markets in the country...that is a good lead-in...you probably live in a more rural area where a lighter lead-in is less damaging...

Me thinks the delusional one is you.

I thought it was a great episode. Especially the flashbacks.
The ending was great too.
I guess it's down to the overun (Partly anyway)

Okay first off. Why the heck are we talking about Moonlight? The show sucks and is going to be cancelled.

Anyways, last nights Survivor will go down in history. I thought it was funny and stupid. However I'm sick of Natalie. No wonder why she never got any airtime earlier in the season.

Without a Trace had VERY good numbers. Thats a big jump from last week.

The rest of the night, boring.

Greys is more popular than Lost, and there was a runover. That was true last week as well, and the ratings are up a bit from last week.

I thought it was a good episode. Hey, what happened to all the fanatical Losties who ranted and raved at me when I was all "Lost sucked last night, and it's time for them to give it a definite endpoint"?

Lost was never remotely as good as some people think it was, nor is it as bad as some people think it is now.

It's exactly as good or bad as I think it is, so there.

That's not exactly true. When The O.C. was first moved to Thursdays during its second season it averaged between 8 - 9 million viewers per episode and had much better demo ratings. In its third season its ratings were down to averaging around 5.75 million per episode, lower than the game shows, but its demos were still better.

Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader did well at first but looks like it's losing steam.

I am enjoying The Office and its ratings and demos are solid based on its competition and what is surrounding it on the network. However the show has taken a hit with the return of GA, etc. and if the ratings drop much more then there will be some problems I think.

And that's precisely why we're talking about Moonlight. Are you new here or something?

Yeah, my feelings always get terribly hurt around the end of the working day, for some strange reason. Unless it's a holiday, or I'm on vacation, in which case I'm just in an all-day snit.

Oh I see. You must be a fantastic employee, judging by your number of posts in this forum! I hope you're not in a "life saving" kind of business. Big Grin

I'm afraid I don't remember what you said to me yesterday. In fact, I don't particularly remember you saying anything at all yesterday. But I'm sure you must have been the cause of my departure. Because you are just that powerful.

I basically said that with your common sense, you'd never be responsible for many rules in life (relating to that "game" you came up with, game I ended up being the closest to "winning" btw), and that you'd probably always be stuck being an employee, folowing other's rules. But that was before I knew what you do at work. Now I hope you'll always be an employee, because the other option doesn't sound too good. Frowner

The other "anal" comment, I won't go into. Big Grin
I hope you're not a curious person, or you'll just have to go through all the work of looking for it, and work doesn't seem to be your best suit Wink

The CW should have been testing an SN/RP pairing. I'm tired of Smallville sucking up all the air in the 7 p.m. timeslot, and it'll be there next year even though Lex, Lana, Lionel, and Chloe will be gone.

Supernatural got its audience back for the Christmas episode, which aired alone after reruns, and for Feburary sweeps. Apparently when it's off the air completely, it suffers. No doubt about that. 2.53 million is nothing to crow about, and I'm disappointed.

I like Supernatural, I respect Supernatural, but the day when SPN can pull Smallville's ratings, then I might consider believing a cracktastic post like this one.

SPN has been a consistent performer wherever it goes with a very loyal fan base. But to suggest that it could do even 3/4 what SV does in the 8pm slot is crazy.

The half hour drop for Lost was because of the 2 minutes grey's overrun. Last night's episode was probably my 2nd favorite episode of Lost of all time after the season 3 finale. It was I think a microcosm of the entire show and anyone who did not like this episode chances are that they are not going to like the show as well, there are only a few episodes that provide that kind of a litmus test and last night's episode along with 'The Constant' were this season's litmus test episodes. It is a testament to how good Season 4 has been that 'Cabin Fever' was only rated as the third best episode of the season. http://darkufo.blogspot.com/2008/05/episode-league-table-week-11-update.html
