Re: Moonlight and Ugly Betty

Are we really comparing ML to UB?

Oh ya there comparing Moonlight to Ugly Betty.
Roll Eyes

Dont miss tommarow when they compare Moonlight to American Idol.

All they need now is Jigsaw and the have SAW.

I've seen two Saw's and the two Hostel movies and I just laughed and laughed. Caring about the characters can do wonders for horror. Wink

I know right.

I also seem to route for the hot girl in the movie.

I saw both hostels and all 4 saws.

Saw 4 is nothing to bowst about.

When i saw Paris Hilto in House of Wax (really good movie and she wasnt such a bad actress either) i was so bumded that she went through all that a died the way she did.

Of course my saying that could be all it takes to get it canceled.

I don't think SN was so gory like you guys are saying. They didn't show anything, just that bloody heart.
Then again, i don't find SAW to be that gory also. Entertaining yes, gory not that much.

I think you are barking up the wrong tree. The drop for Supernatural is becasue of the competition on the other networks now vs. back in February. back in February, Supernatural was facing CSI reruns, NAACP awards shows, Lost, and Celebrity Apprentice. I think facing Grey's Anatomy, CSI, The Office, and the FOX gameshows presents the real obstacle. Also, note that while you bash the Smallville lead-in and hype the week that Supernatural had itself as a lead-in, that week was also the week that Idol aired on Thursday. Thus, Idol brought an extra 12 million or so viewers to the TV sets that FOX then released to the other networks at 9pm.

No, because I have, at times, been a noted jinx when it comes to low-rated network shows. But usually for that jinx to take effect, I have to actually watch them. So Moonlight only has to worry about its ratings.

I never meant to say I had power over network decisions--then again, I'm about as powerful as all the ranting Moonlight groupies without Nielsen boxes. Combined.

Possibly, but look how WMC performed when moved from Friday to 'a real night'.

A lot of UB's audience has left the series and even less of the fans would be there on a Friday night.
I agree. I think Ugly Betty is on the edge of a ratings cliff and waiting to drop over it to the According to Jim viewer range.

I do not watch either series, so I can look at this objectively and without bias
Sure...objective...it is so very rare for you to side with a CBS show. Wink

I think there's more at stake than Nielsen in Moonlight's chances, so you're less powerful than that. See, CBS actually likes the buzz. I don't care either way about Moonlight though.

BTW, I hope I didn't hurt your feelings yesterday. You seemed to leave abruptly

LOL! My thoughts exactly. The Shark vs Moonlight conversation Wednesday was kind of pointless, but at least Shark and ML are on the same network.

Ugly Betty isn't looking too good though. I wouldn't advise any of the cast to take out long-term leases when they move to NYC.

I'm sorry but UB is doing better in viewers and in demos. I don't call for the cancelation beacause the show is on ABC not on CBS. A 7.9 million show on ABC is good, on CBS is not. And UB does not have a lead-in

where i live (los angeles) ugly betty's lead-in is jeopardy and wheel of fortune...the two strongest game shows by far...betty has a strong lead-in...

You and Justin both live in LA and both have delusional thinkings when it comes to affiliates. My ABC affiliate has Inside Edition as the lead in. I'm sure it finishes about third of fourth in the timeslot. I'm pretty sure in Minneapolis that the low rated ABC local news is the lead in. Betty overll has to start off the night. Everyone knows that 8pm is a very difficult hour right now because there simply aren't the people watching TV. A lot of those people are DVRing, taping, and watching 8pm shows later online. A lot of those viewers will return in the fall.
Moonlight on the other hand, does have a good lead in with Ghost Whisperer. The second biggest lead in nationwide a show can have on a Friday night (the highest rated Friday show also airs right after it). I do not believe Moonlight can survive in a tough timeslot because it will actually have to face something. I honestly don't care if its renewed or not. I don't watch Friday TV for the very reason that its doing well- there's nothing on.

It may happen, but I think Betty will return to around 9 million viewers this fall. The premise of the show however is dragging and one more season is about all they should milk of it (and I like the show).

On weeks when Greys and CSI aren't around and when DVRs are factored in. The live ratings aren't really all that hot right now but everything's down and its on NBC, so I'll cut it some slack.

But there are a whole lot more people who share my indifference than their enthusiasm. Like by several orders of magnitude. Big Grin

I suppose, but they'd like decent #'s a whole lot more.

Hardly anyone does. And the few who do don't seem to care about anything else, so the barely audible Moonlight buzz doesn't help other CBS shows. This is the problem in a nutshell. Wink

Yeah, my feelings always get terribly hurt around the end of the working day, for some strange reason. Unless it's a holiday, or I'm on vacation, in which case I'm just in an all-day snit.

I'm afraid I don't remember what you said to me yesterday. In fact, I don't particularly remember you saying anything at all yesterday. But I'm sure you must have been the cause of my departure. Because you are just that powerful.
