PD is doing good compared to other shows this year. ALL new shows are struggling, and the writer's strike may make it so that no no series make it to a second season. PP and PD both took severe looses, BIG ones, and they were among the highest rated new shows this season. I guess America needs dumb reality television anymore.

It's one of the shows that are expected to be hit the hardest by the writer's strike. That alone could doom it--people are already losing interest quickly, and a long hiatus is going to make it even harder.

If its total audience ends up around 7mil, what do you think its 18-49 #'s will be?

IMO, they're already lower than ABC can live with, longterm. If PD can't stay above 3.0 in the 18-49 demo, it's toast.

We'll see what happens in two weeks once there isn't baseball and a holiday affecting it. I agree that it needs to hit a 3.0 in the demo, but that shouldn't be hard to do. The fact that nothing hit a 3.0 in the demo at 8 means its safe for now. Creatively though this show was right on last night.

So you think it's doing good compared to Private Practice?

Gotta do the lunch thing. Ciao.

I don't think PD has gone the Studio60 route. It was 8pm on a Halloween night, it would be expected to not have many people tuning in.

And secondly of all, it was a Halloween-themed episode, and that should have helped--if most of the people who have watched the show liked it as much as you.

right, most people would skip a national holiday like halloween to watch TV SHOW, its strange that nobody is mentioning the other shows that went down this week, fact is that everything was down from last week, yet

I was worried about KID NATION taking a hit last night but it was because of HALLOWEEN...a kid's holiday and of course they were out trick or treating...plus TAYLOR the star of the show was reduced to a cameo so that couldnt' have helped either.

DSM is steady as a rock , beat PD in the demo and has been #2 5 straight weeks, viewership is steady and crushing a show that already recieved a full season. This result should get ABC picking up the phone for a Back Nine!!

2.9/8 18-49 DSM(76% retention out of PP)
2.6/8 18-49 PD

The thing is...it's a horrible show...with hateful characters. How 8 Million people could give up an hour of their lives for it is beyond me.

First of all, there's always SOMEthing younger viewers can be doing at 8pm on a Wednesday night. The whole point of a show like this is to keep them home watching ABC. If Pushing Daisies can't manage that, Pushing Daisies is pushing off in the near future. It's been given every possible break, and about the easiest timeslot it could have possibly been given.

And secondly of all, it was a Halloween-themed episode, and that should have helped--if most of the people who have watched the show liked it as much as you. Fact is, a lot of people are noticing, as some people here have noticed, that the show hasn't been able to sustain its glossy production values--too costly over the long run.

right, most people would skip a national holiday like halloween to watch TV SHOW, and younger viewers dont do much on a regular wednesday, believe me, I am in my 20s, and I mostly go out on the weekends, and almost everyone I know my age does the same thing, we all still have jobs, you know, the ones where we have to wake up early for

its strange that nobody is mentioning the other shows that went down this week, fact is that everything was down from last week, yet some posters focus only on PD

PD still won its timeslot, so that suddenly doesnt counts for something, and I think reaper or chuck are the next studio 60, I mean I like both shows, and they are both critical darlings too, but their ratings are much lower than PD

Those other 8pm shows you speak of aren't costly heavily-hyped one hour dramas--and they are the only reason PD isn't canceled. Yet.

Pisher, you keep saying that PD is costly, but if you actually saw any other episodes other than the first, you would see that the only costly episodes are the first 2

if you keep saying that it is costly, show us a source that states so, and how its costs compares to other shows, I dont even think that PD is more costly than DSM

It was Halloween so all numbers are going to be down. I'm surprised how poor Phenomenon performed. It was an episode geared towards Halloween. PD is too confusing to garner a main audience. It's going to be a fringe show. And CW should never air GG repeats. Those numbers are MNTV territory.

Hmm--so you're saying the show looks cheap and tacky? I suppose you have a point there. Wink

It's an expensive show to make, and that's well-established. Yes, the first two eps were MORE expensive, but they still take a lot of time setting up shots, from what I heard, and that runs into money. No question they cut costs, but that's led, as you yourself admit, to the show losing the very pseudo-cinematic visual element that had most people tuning in at first.

With just the characters and the scripts to fall back on, PD doesn't have a future.

And it won't even have the scripts pretty soon. Big Grin

As of Tuesday night, MNTV territory now goes as high as 2.5 million viewers (and that was for an encore).

You're absolutely right. I don't think i've ever seen a show with so many hateful characters. And so useless characters.

Yeah, like it's strange you forget to mention that some of last night's shows were repeats. Roll Eyes
