Anyway, DirtySexyJ, if you're so interested in the ratings for the show you work on, and are getting info directly from ABC, why don't you ask your current exec for the "Live plus Same Day" final national ratings for Wednesday, October 31st? They will tell you that DSM ran from 10:02pm until 11pm (which is different from the time frame given on the "Fast National Ratings" spin ABC issues daily - note the difference between "fast" and "final").
Private Practice is more highly rated than DSM, so 2 minutes of PP are averaged with 28 minutes of DSM in the fast nationals for the 10pm half-hour rating. In the finals, those two minutes are removed. That accounts for the difference. You'll also note that Private Practice increased in the finals, due to its final two minutes being included in its own average.
Similarly, tonight's Grey's Anatomy runs until 10:07pm. Big Shots airs afterwards, from 10:07 until 11pm. Though everyone knows Grey's ran long and the fast national ratings are inaccurate from both that show and for big shots tomorrow, you can bet that ABC will spin Big Shots having a week-to-week increase (which it might have, the 10:30pm half-hour rating will show us that). You can also bet that media sources will spin the half-hour drop-off (which in recent weeks has been less pronounced in final ratings, as soon as Grey's overrun is taken out of the equation). The fast nationals are spin tools. The final nationals give us real numbers. And given recent weeks (Grey's has had 2 minutes of overrun, and in finals Big Shots drops 0.3 in the demo), I would expect Big Shots to drop a full point in the demo ratings.
That's just the reality of the networks futzing around with schedules by having shows spill into the next time period.
Deal with it.
And stop being so rude to people.
Honestly,
I do ask , every week. Unfortunatley like I said the Brass dictate the #s to us not the other way around. If My boss says we have 8.38M viewers Im not gonna tell him well, at www.pifeedback.com they say otherwise.
My original question to you was..
why did the numbers for DSM go unchanged in your table for the first three showings? I suppose you have answered this with the explanation of overlap? 10:02-11p. My apologies to you and everyone else as although the accuracy matters to me it apparantly is the least of the concern of ABC. Yes the strike is looming and we did not get a back nine, stress is high as you can imagine.
I see this clearly now, and will attempt to explain to the Producers , why the numbers are adjusted slightly lower. hopefully we are doing enough to get the back 9 , I enjoy the show immensely and once again thanks for the clarity.
Apologies to all who attempted to explain , I was blinded by the "conspiracy theory".
Thanks folks,
Josh
For every DSM airing, it has had an over lap, I believe. The numbers should have changed on those three weeks that you are stating.

I can almost hear the ominous music as you typed that.
Count me as puzzled about why Big Shots is airing in the sweeps period.
That's a good question. I think TV-aholic on recently started the tables, so maybe in his initial table it only had the finals? If you go back to the threads for the first three episodes (9/26, 10/3, and 10/10), the numbers reported on page 1 (in Marc's initial fast national report) should be different from the final nationals I (or others) post later.

Wait... there's lower than Production Assistant (not to be disrespectful, but that's the hierarchy I'm familiar with... unless you're an intern, but you shouldn't feel the need explicate!)

I'm pretty sure TV-aholic is posting the finals Travis is stating.

I'm pretty sure he is, too. Shrug!
Its all good, I understand now.
Thanks again for not giving up on me and continuing to prove the data set. I think ratings in general ridiculous. This is a GREAT show and I love my Cast and Crew, I hate the fact we could be done, and I may be out of work for a Loooooong (sp) time.
The show has done ok, it deserves a full season and beyond, but this will not be something I can settle. Travis what does the shire say?

Really you think Dirty Sexy Money will be gone before Big Shots? That really sucks, I actually enjoy this show... Even though Pushing Daisies is declining and likely to continue there's no hope for DSM? Like whats the word on set since you're kind of an insider...
No problem. But lets also thank Marc, Travis, ABC Medianet, sitcoms Online, ect... Without them I couldn't do it.
I just want the information as accessible and easy to find, plus I think it sparks more conversations within each programs thread.
I really enjoy this site and just want to do my part to make it better.

I second that!
I third with my thanks too for helping to build useful archive references for all the current programs.
And I am grateful too for the regular reports on the nascent MyNetworkTV as well.
WE espcially need to do it for MyTV, who knows exactly how long they will be around.

Production Assistant? I meant Pain in the Ass. But... I guess that could be it, too.
This guy works on the show, and he thinks it's in trouble? Did he misspell "Cavemen" or something?
-- "Better Off Ted," Wednesdays at some time or another at some point or another in the near future. Because we can't all live in mansions and not ever work like the people on "Modern Family."
