Marc's post clearly states the numbers are based on the fast affiliates.
Travis's post clearly states his numbers are based on the finals.
If you would have just kindly asked why your numbers didn't jive with the finals, someone would have explained it to you (like we have).
Instead you got all angry about it and overreacted.

In the heat of a work stoppage and possible loss of a show , your concern is "SPELLING"?
Oh, the DRAMA! The Humanity! The Fried Apples! Why the apples? Dunno... FRIED APPLES!

Thanks for your helpful response , so kind and thoughtful.
It's my pleasure.
It WAS helpful for sure, as you started to write better. Now it is easier to understand what you are trying to say, content of the posts notwithstanding.

I understand where but MARC's numbers are easily attainable(sp) LOL...Travis, still have no clue where the mysterious "final" numbers come from.
It takes several days to get a "final" number and the Network disseminates the #s for the producers, not the other way around.
I still do not see a source for the "final" numbers of viewers.

Oh dear, Travis, or another source, could have been off by 100,000! Does it matter anyways? I mean do we honestly believe DSM would last through next season, or a full run, at least?

This is a press release straight from ABC with last week's final numbers which was released on October 30. They reported an 8.3 for Dirty Sexy Money, which is 8.26 rounded up. This week's final press release from ABC will reflect the numbers from Travis just like every other week.
Oh man, after I read all the vomit inducing posts by the crazed fans on the internet, I begin to wish for the shows to be cancelled. And those are the shows that I like.
I am awfully late to the party, but anyway, Quoted For Truth.
I'm even later, but still, I concur. So much so, I hope "Dirty Sexy Money" joins "Me and the Boys" and "Hail to the Chief" in the "Successful ABC Shows Which Were Cancelled For No Reason Whatsoever" department.
-- "Better Off Ted," Wednesdays at some time or another at some point or another in the near future. Because we can't all live in mansions and not ever work like the people on "Modern Family."
Shouldn't the EP be busy getting to downtown Los Angeles for the general WGA meeting?
Anyway, DirtySexyJ, if you're so interested in the ratings for the show you work on, and are getting info directly from ABC, why don't you ask your current exec for the "Live plus Same Day" final national ratings for Wednesday, October 31st? They will tell you that DSM ran from 10:02pm until 11pm (which is different from the time frame given on the "Fast National Ratings" spin ABC issues daily - note the difference between "fast" and "final").
Private Practice is more highly rated than DSM, so 2 minutes of PP are averaged with 28 minutes of DSM in the fast nationals for the 10pm half-hour rating. In the finals, those two minutes are removed. That accounts for the difference. You'll also note that Private Practice increased in the finals, due to its final two minutes being included in its own average.
Similarly, tonight's Grey's Anatomy runs until 10:07pm. Big Shots airs afterwards, from 10:07 until 11pm. Though everyone knows Grey's ran long and the fast national ratings are inaccurate from both that show and for big shots tomorrow, you can bet that ABC will spin Big Shots having a week-to-week increase (which it might have, the 10:30pm half-hour rating will show us that). You can also bet that media sources will spin the half-hour drop-off (which in recent weeks has been less pronounced in final ratings, as soon as Grey's overrun is taken out of the equation). The fast nationals are spin tools. The final nationals give us real numbers. And given recent weeks (Grey's has had 2 minutes of overrun, and in finals Big Shots drops 0.3 in the demo), I would expect Big Shots to drop a full point in the demo ratings.
That's just the reality of the networks futzing around with schedules by having shows spill into the next time period.
Deal with it.
And stop being so rude to people.

The final numbers are accurate. Travis has access to them earlier than most sites report them (they'll usually report them every Tuesday for the week prior).
Here's an example of their accuracy.
Here is Travis's post from last Wednesday reporting the final numbers for all original episodes that night, including Dirty Sexy Money: Wednesday, October 24, 2007
Now check out this press release from ABC for the week ending October 28, 2007: October 22-28, 2007
Feel free to compare his numbers to those reported finals. You'll find they're all accurate.

Honestly,
I do ask , every week. Unfortunatley like I said the Brass dictate the #s to us not the other way around. If My boss says we have 8.38M viewers Im not gonna tell him well, at www.pifeedback.com they say otherwise.
My original question to you was..
why did the numbers for DSM go unchanged in your table for the first three showings? I suppose you have answered this with the explanation of overlap? 10:02-11p. My apologies to you and everyone else as although the accuracy matters to me it apparantly is the least of the concern of ABC. Yes the strike is looming and we did not get a back nine, stress is high as you can imagine.
I see this clearly now, and will attempt to explain to the Producers , why the numbers are adjusted slightly lower. hopefully we are doing enough to get the back 9 , I enjoy the show immensely and once again thanks for the clarity.
Apologies to all who attempted to explain , I was blinded by the "conspiracy theory".
Thanks folks,
Josh
