Why do you guys keep taking down DSM's number? 8.58 M for 10/24 and 8.39M 10/31 to be exact. all the other shows the numbers match but not for DSM and it has happened 2 straight weeks. You guys were inaccurate last week and the table needs correcting to match data sets from ABC and Neilson Media
Travis' numbers are accurate. The numbers that are 'yours' from Nielsen are more preliminary. The reason that Dirty Sexy Money dropped is that the show prior to it (Private Practice) ran a couple of minutes into DSM's timeslot. Therefore, the preliminary numbers counted the Private Practice viewers while Travis' final numbers count only the viewers that were actually watching DSM.
All the numbers come from Neilsen. The 'preliminary' data is actually sent out as ratings data for 1/2hour time periods while the 'final' data is sent out as ratings data for individual programs.
The networks use these little 1-3minute time slot overruns to help boost some shows ratings so they can quickly issue press releases with more positive spin that they would be able to release if the numbers were 'accurate' to begin with.
Count me among the still 'analog' after all these years! (Cheap, cheap, cheap!)

That my friend is a joke. The data comes from Neilsen and is given to me from the NETWORK. You guys are mis-representing the data for what purpose? I will be contacting ABC legal to point this out.

You must be looking at the Nielsen Fast Affiliate/Fast National numbers, which is what Marc reported at the beginning of the thread.
These most recent numbers that Travis reported are the Nielsen Final National numbers.
In ABC's ratings release for last week, they had this to say for Dirty Sexy Money:
quote:
"Dirty Sexy Money" (10:02-11:00 p.m.) ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money" defeated its freshman drama competition during the 10 o'clock hour, NBC's "Life," by a best-ever 1.4 million viewers (8.3 million vs. 6.9 million) and by 24% in Adults 18-49 (3.1/8 vs. 2.5/6).
Dirty Sexy Money had 8.26 million viewers last week, not 8.6 million.
Do you work for the show or something? If that's the case it's pretty sad that you could be so mis-informed about your own show's ratings.

Im not mis-informed, we get data points all week long from the network and last week total viewership was 8.58m
Using last weeks qoute as this weeks classic!!
HERE IS TODAY "Dirty Sexy Money" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
Taking second to CBS' veteran "C.S.I.: NY," ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money" defeated its freshman drama competition during the 10 o'clock hour, NBC's "Life," by a best-ever 2.6 million viewers (8.4 million vs. 5.8 million) and by 53% in Adults 18-49 (2.9/8 vs. 1.9/5). The new ABC series ranked No. 1 in its time period in Adults 18-34 (2.4/7) and Women 18-34 (3.3/10), qualifying as the No. 2 TV program of the evening on both counts, behind only "Private Practice." HERE IS LAST WEEK
"Dirty Sexy Money" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money" defeated its freshman drama competition during the 10 o'clock hour, NBC's "Life," by a best-ever 1.7 million viewers (8.6 million vs. 6.9 million) and by 28% in Adults 18-49 (3.2/8 vs. 2.5/6). The new ABC series ranked No. 1 in the hour, against the World Series Game 1 and CBS' "C.S.I.: NY," with Women 18-34 (4.0/11) and Women 18-49 (4.6/12).
Opposite stiff competition, "'Dirty Sexy Money" was up week to week among Adults 18-49 (3.2/8 vs. 3.0/8) and Women 18-49 (4.6/12 vs. 4.1/11).
10/24/2007 = 8.58 M rounded 8.6 10/31/2007= 8.38 M rounded 8.4
These are the numbers ABC uses and they were just emailed from the shows executive producer!
You guys are propagating bad data.

Oh man, after I read all the vomit inducing posts by the crazed fans on the internet, I begin to wish for the shows to be cancelled. And those are the shows that I like.
I am awfully late to the party, but anyway, Quoted For Truth.

Alright, you're really jumping all over the place.
You are saying that last week's numbers (10/24/2007) were 8.6 million right?
In reality, finals for last week were 8.26 million.
The Fast National number last week was 8.56 million. It dropped to 8.26 million when the finals were released.
This week (10/31/2007): Fast National = 8.38 million Final National = 8.20 million
It dropped to 8.20 million when the finals were released.
The difference between fast/final numbers was explained quite nicely up thread by Obveeus.
Do you not understand how ratings work? The number you have (which is the fast national) is not incorrect, it just isn't entirely accurate. Fast nationals measure the time period (like 10:00-10:30 p.m. and 10:30 to 11:00 p.m.) and do not take into account pre-emptions and other irregularities.
The finals take the pre-emptions into account, and measure the actual program (so in the case of Dirty Sexy Money from 10:02 to 11:00 p.m.), thereby eliminating the Private Practice overrun which inflated the numbers a tad.

Honey, if you bother to read the entire press release, you'll see in the HEADER that it is based on the FAST AFFILIATE ratings, not the more accurate FINAL ratings, which are released later in the day. The final numbers are what Travis is kind enough to post here.

The final number interestingly enough is not given to us by ABC so its seems odd. Also the previous show ratings that TRAVIS posted the first three weeks matched our numbers exactly. Why are the final numbers different only for the last two airings of DSM? I emailed the Executive producer and he also states viewership at 8.38m for 10/31/07.. I will stand by for further clarification

In the heat of a work stoppage and possible loss of a show , your concern is "SPELLING"?
I asked where the data came from as we do not see it as it is presented and replicated by this forum. Thanks for your helpful response , so kind and thoughtful.
