-Ratings Breakdown: CBS opened the Nov. 2007 sweeps on a winning note in total viewers, while ABC was first among adults 18-49. NBC and Fox tied for the No. 3 and 4 spots, and the CW was fifth.
CBS’ veteran Survivor: China opened the evening on a winning note, with 14.32 million viewers and a 4.8 rating/13 share among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. Next was ABC’s Ugly Betty (Viewers: #2, 9.90 million; A18-49: #2, 3.4/ 9), which dipped by a hefty 3.72 million viewers and 23 percent among adults 18-49 from one year earlier (Viewers: 13.62 million; A18-49: 4.4/11 on Nov. 2, 2006). Tied for third in the hour was a one hour edition of NBC’s My Name is Earl and Fox’s Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, which remains a vast improvement over year-ago occupants ‘Til Death and Happy Hour. Take a look:
My Name Is Earl (NBC) Viewers: 7.29 million (#4), A18-49: 3.1/ 9 (#3)
Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (Fox) Viewers: 8.43 million (#3), A18-49: 2.6/ 7 (#4)
Capping off the 8 p.m. was the CW’s Smallville with a typical 4.31 million viewers and a 1.7/ 5 in the demo.
Grey’s Anatomy finished first, as usual, among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m., while inching past CBS’ CSI in total viewers. Take a look:
Grey’s Anatomy (ABC) Viewers: 18.76 million (#1), A18-49: 7.9/19 (#1)
CSI (CBS) Viewers: 18.75 million (#2), A18-49: 5.6/13 (#2)
Another episode of Fox’s Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? was third in the hour in total viewers (#3: 8.58 million) and fourth in adults 18-49 (#4, 2.5/ 6). And NBC’s combination of The Office (Viewers: #4, 8.39 million; A18-49: #3, 4.5/11) and Scrubs (Viewers: #4, 6.68 million; A18-49: #3, 3.7/ 9) was just the opposite. At this point, it is time for Scrubs to officially end. Worth noting for The Office was the double-digit growth out of My Name is Earl among adults 18-49.
Capping off the 9 p.m. hour was the CW’s Supernatural at 3.28 million viewers and a 1.3/ 3 among adults 18-49.
First at 10 p.m. was CBS’ Without a Trace, at 14.62 million viewers and a 4.0/11 among adults 18-49. Second was NBC’s needs-to-be retired ER (Viewers: 9.06 million; A18-49: 3.9/11), followed by Big Shots on ABC at an approximate 9.01 million viewers and a 3.7/10 in the demo. I stress approximate because the first four or five minutes of the 10 p.m. half hour included Grey’s Anatomy. With that in mind, look how much Big Shots dropped in the second half-hour:
And it's an estimate, remember--so in fact either show could have had more total viewers, which means it's pointless to talk about who won that category. Greys won HH by a little, and demo by a lot, and that's a solid win--really the first of the season for either show.
My Name Is Earl (NBC) Viewers: 7.29 million (#4), A18-49: 3.1/ 9 (#3)
Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (Fox) Viewers: 8.43 million (#3), A18-49: 2.6/ 7 (#4)

Wow Fox actually has some interest on Thursday night. What an improvement over past seasons.
I think that the only win GA will get, since next week is the crossover, then the next 2 weeks are gearing up for Sara's exit, and usually sara-centric episodes do extremely well in ratings.
I don't think i've ever seen such a small difference between 2 18 million shows. And the finals won't make the picture clearer beacasue GRey's had a big overrun

Um--I'll take your word for it--but you do realize there aren't going to be any more sara-centric episodes, right?
The score is Greys 1, CSI 0. All the other games have been ties.
Although The Office did okay, it's worth noting it was down a fair bit from last week, when it had 8.98mil viewers, and a 4.7 in the demo.
Joss Whedon wrote/directed last night's ep, and he just doesn't get the characters right. It's like really expensive fanfiction. The dynamics were out of whack. It wasn't The Office.
Thank God Joss has a job again, so he won't have time to ruin my favorite show.

Oh please CSI has beaten 4 times Grey's. And please don't start with the demo numbers beacause for 18 million shows that means nothing. All it counts is how many people watched those show. Or maybe for you a 60 year old person is not a human being

You know with this line of reasoning CSI will never be winner?
Nice to see UB and GA up from prior weeks (esp. in the demo).
I hadn't seen UB since last season, but decided to tune in because I'm a big fan of "Wicked".
It was a terrific hour of TV, and makes me want to start watching the show again. I don't see any sophomore slump in this show... it seems to be firing on all cylinders. It may not be a mass-appeal hit, but I think its settled into a consistent audience that will watch every week.
So SURVIVOR ticked up a little this week? It deserved to as the snooping Jamie's comeuppance at tribal council with the NOT-Hidden Idol was a SERIES CLASSIC moment.
Re: BIG SHOTS-It's ABC's only good new show besides SAMATHA WHO. Great cast, good stories except for the pharmecist, his wife and mistresss story...certainly a lot better than the reprehensible DSM...why it's not being embraced is a mystery.
