I thought "Survivor" was good, and should be just as good next week. I'm not crazy about the upcoming All-Star edition, since I hated the first one.

BTW, how long will "The Beautiful Life" last? Those numbers (1.5 mil) were awful. This could be the season's first casualty.

Parks and recreations, great improvement over last season. Funny, funny.
The office was really funny as usual and community had me laughing out loud many times. Hope they all get good ratings.

Magical laffs for Penn, Teller
Duo to star in project for ABC

quote:
Comedy/illusionist duo Penn and Teller have signed on to star in a project for ABC loosely based on their own lives.

Also at the Alphabet, the net has given a pilot production commitment to a relationship comedy from scribe Shana Goldberg-Meehan ("Friends").

ABC has given a script order to the Penn and Teller project. Comedic one-hour stars the duo as Penn Jillette and Teller -- Las Vegas magicians by night. But here's how the show takes a slight twist from real life: By day, the duo become reluctant detectives.

Leonard Dick ("House") is writing the project and will exec produce along with Jillette and Teller. Peter Golden is onboard as a co-exec producer, while Warner Bros. TV is producing.

Penn and Teller have a lengthy TV resume as performers, hosts and actors (mostly playing themselves). Show would mark a return to ABC for Jillette, who recently competed on the Alphabet net's "Dancing With the Stars."

The duo have hosted seven seasons of their Showtime series "Bullshit!," in which they take on myths, conspiracy theories and misconceptions. They've also appeared on shows such as "Babylon 5," "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" and "The West Wing."

Dick's other credits include "Lost" and "The Mentalist," where he's been serving as a consulting producer.

As for the Goldberg-Meehan pilot, multicamera comedy revolves around two sisters at different stages in their romantic relationships. One sister is in a happy, long-term relationship but isn't married; the other gets pregnant -- and winds up quickly marrying her new beau.

Warner Bros. TV is behind this project as well. Goldberg-Meehan will exec produce.

Meanwhile, busy ABC execs just gave a script order to a multicamera comedy from writers Brett Paesel and Marsh McCall.

Untitled laffer, from ABC Studios, centers on Megan McPhee -- a newly divorced woman who, in an attempt to rebuild her life, takes a rather unusual job.

Warren Littlefield is also n board the sitcom as a nonwriting exec producer.

Save 'The Beautiful Life: TBL'

I am still reeling in shock from the overnights. Not since the 'Hidden Palms' debut have I seen an overnight number so shockingly, undeservedly skinny.

It cannot be too soon to initiate a 'Save The Beautiful Life: TBL' campaign, to save this frothy, frolicky romp starring the exotic beauty, Miss Mischa Barton.

Miss Mischa Barton needs your help to save her new series...send Miss Ostroff a postcard with three reasons why you want to see a full season of 'The Beautiful Life: TBL'

I think they made a huge mistake not having Nimoy in the ep, even briefly. Obviously we'll be seeing more of Olivia's meeting with Bell in the coming weeks, but that's not the right way to tease the audience.

Plus, I am very leery of Special Agent NewGal (I do not remember her actual name). I think it's way too early to be bringing in new protagonists. She's going to be eating up screentime that could go to lovely underused Asteroid. Mad

They already have a tough female investigator--they didn't need a spare. But maybe they know what they're doing.

I am addicted to this show, but have no trouble at all understanding why others are not.

There has never been a show I was so addicted to I couldn't walk away from it if the writers irreparably screwed it up. As they would do if they got Olivia and Peter together as a couple. The X-Files went down that road, and it never came back.

Btw, I found the perfect chaser for Fringe--It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. For some reason, they just go perfectly together.

ABC is really increasing their comedies in development. It will be interesting to see how many go to pilot and potentially, how many to series.

Wow Fringe was a letdown. I was so excited for it! I hope the ratings aren't bad.

Supernatural was better this week. Vampire Diaries was very boring, i'm disapointed, after last week I thought I had a new show-love.

This should have about a 1/25% of a response to your Save "Cupid" campaign...

Leno got his lowest #'s yet--but still managed to attract more viewers than The Office and Community.

Lead-in dependent, huh?

Fringe was definitely not crushed, and great retention out of Bones, but Greys and CSI were repeats. No solid conclusions to be drawn yet.

I just had to chime in on GLEE.

First off, I saved the pilot through the summer and watched the first three episodes all in a row.

All I can say is WOW. I watch a lot of TV and this show has everything.

It's the underdog story I love, a demented sense of humor that Ryan Murphy does a great job delivering, and a stellar cast.

The musical numbers actually make the show even better as they correlate to the storyline.

This show has EVERYTHING. May be one of my favorite shows of the last 10 years.

I hope it's taking home some big trophies on Emmy night 2010.

Expect it to deliver decent numbers and those download numbers are sure strong too.

Like I said before, Glee is a success story on its own level. It's a fantastic show, and most possibly this season's best new show. The quality is just unbelievable - the acting, the writing, the music is just something a TV show has never done so beautifully before.
