I personally really like "Glee", it is really enjoyable, simply a lot of fun. But I only like it, I do not love it (yet?). Ratings are okay, though I must say underwhelming considering how much advertisement they made and how they are not having that much competition yet. Still, I think the show will definitely get a BACK-9, as FOX probably wants to see how it performs after AI.
I'm surprised so many people watch Jay Leno, just as much as I am curious on whether he can keep that audience.
TBL: Honestly I wouldn't have expected these ratings. Ordering it was in my opinion always a smart decision of the network, but apparently it was not. I actually enjoyed the show. It's stupid and full of clichés, but as a soapy guilty pleasure it works and was better than the disaster that Melrose was. Also, at least they have an excuse for everyone looking like models, because they are supposed to be models. LOL. But if ratings don't go up, it might be the first show to say goodbye this season.
Tonight's the night that FRINGE returns to make a last stand before getting mowed down by the CSI/ANATOMY juggernaught in the coming weeks.
CSI and Greys are both steadily declining. The Office is well past its peak. Far as I'm concerned, Fringe owns Thursday. Maybe I don't like it after this season, but I'm glad FOX put it there. It's a gutsy move, whether it pays off or not.
So there'll be no whiny "Oh they killed Fringe by moving it there, they never supported it, it had no lead-in, there wasn't enough promotion, oh woe is meeee!" remarks from my direction if Fringe goes down this year, trust me. IF Fringe goes down.
But I wouldn't count on that, if I were you.
I agree, it is a gutsy move and I hope it works for Fox. I'm looking forward to Fringe, and The Office. But The Office is so easy to watch online, I will probably watch Fringe live.
A little surprised that Leno went back up last night in total viewers but it looks like AGT having over 18mil in the last half hour had a LOT to do with that. Odd that the demo stayed the same from Tues to Wed though given the better demo lead in last night.
Will be interesting tonight since Community won't offer as good of a viewership lead in (demo may be similar but we shall see). I'm guessing Leno is under 10 mil tonight with a 3ish demo.

That's what I'm going to do, being DVR-less.
But I still get annoyed when people refer to watching the premiere airing of an episode filmed weeks or months before as 'watching it live'. Not your fault. I'm just easily annoyed.
Sorry Marc but Top Model should be a loser, that large of year to year declines just isn't acceptable. And it isn't like last year they had unusually high ratings (for that show).

I'm guessing NBC would be more than fine with that.
Their real problem is not that they don't have enough scripted shows, or too much unscripted--their problem is development, and Community will probably demonstrate that yet again.

I think the bump back up makes one admire BIG BROTHER that much more. It looks like Jay going up against the finale Tuesday really did hurt him. Great season for BB even if the winner was lame.
Those numbers for the CW are not pretty. With the netlet now having two series already in trouble ("TBL" and "Melrose"), and another small midseason bench, one of the two will likely get a full season if for no other reason than the CW simply doesn't have anything else to put on (unless they opt to air two episodes of "Life Unexpected" - a new one and then rerun it the next day).
I do believe that CBS's "CSI: NY" got more than just 3.98 million viewers. What are the odds that it and ABC's competing "Primetime" would get identical viewership and demo numbers?
As I expected, "So You Think You Can Dance" is not performing as well as it did during the summer. As I said back in May, putting "Dance" on in the fall, especially after running a summer season, is not going to pay off in the ratings. Another lazy decision by the Fox execs to coast until "Idol" returns. The good news for Fox is that "Glee" is still doing better, but that 900,000 drop from last week is concerning. While the "Talent" finale on NBC may be a reason, what will happen to "Glee" once the competition really kicks in over the next couple of weeks?
I was not really surprised that Leno would rebound slightly in the ratings. He did have a much higher rated lead-in with the "Talent" finale as opposed to the "Biggest Loser" premiere. Leno's fortunes seem to rise and fall based on his lead-in. His performance tonight will be interesting since "30 Rock" is not likely to pull in 18 million viewers, so we may find out what Leno can do all by himself without a highly rated lead-in.
Speaking of tonight, I will be interested to find out how "Survivor: Samoa" does and if it can slow or reverse the downward trend that has plagued CBS's premiere reality franchise the last several seasons.

If Glee's ratings go down, I don't think it will be because of the competition. The AGT finale is much stronger competition than anything Glee's going to face starting next week. Criminal Minds and Law and Order: SVU will hurt each other more than they will hurt Glee. I also can't see Modern Family and Cougar Town stealing away much of Glee's audience either.
I completely agree that L&O:SVU and CM won't interfere with Glee much. However, I think Glee could cross with the female audiences that would be interested in Modern Family and CT. It will be an interesting matchup to look at.

Leno's fortunes seem to rise and fall based on his lead-in.
And in a related observation, I've noticed that thermometer readings tend to rise and fall based on the temperature.
I honestly am not watching Leno's show. I never watched him much in latenight either (or Letterman).
But it just seems so ridiculous to talk about trends on the basis of three broadcasts. ALL THREE OF WHICH got great ratings for NBC at that hour.
Yes, lead-in affects ratings. So does competition. So do HUT levels. So do a bunch of other things, including who Jay's interview bookers have lined up for a particular evening. But this past Tuesday's instalment, the lowest-rated night so far, which had a crappy lead-in, tough competition, and Michael Moore as the main interview guest, still got ratings significantly higher than what most people were predicting for the PREMIERE.
So it is NOT established that he needs a good lead-in or easy competition or a great 'get' in order to get ratings substantially better than NBC has been getting in that timeslot with expensive scripted programming. It may be so established in the coming weeks, at which time we can say "Well, that has been established." Until then, it's just a lot of gum-flapping, and Jay's looking more confident every night.
Because he's starting to figure out primetime is not such a big deal. I mean, they let Nathan Fillion star in a primetime show. For a little while longer.

It's rumoured to be on Channel 4 (which has bought Lost, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, Smallville, The OC and probably lots more I can't remember in the past). No idea why they'd keep it secret unless they're making a big announcement out of it.
I'm glad Glee is still building on what airs before it, though worrying to see it losing some viewers week to week. I can see it being too niche for mainstream success, but I like it a lot.

They didn't. According to Variety, CSI: NY got 7.5 million viewers and a 1.9 in the demo. Criminal Minds got 6.6 million viewers and a 1.8 in the demo.
