-Ratings Breakdown: There was good news aplenty for NBC, which has now won its fourth consecutive evening, beating the No. 2 network (CBS in total viewers, Fox among adults 18-49) by 8.52 million viewers and 30 percent among adults 18-49. The two-hour season-finale of America’s Got Talent kicked-off the night with a dominant 15.52 million viewers and a 3.5 rating/10 share among adults 18-49, building by half-hour as follows:
Needless to say, America’s Got Talent remains a bona fide summer hit (and should not eventually be added during the traditional season, if that is ever an option). Night three of The Jay Leno Show followed with an also first-place 13.12 million viewers and a 3.4/10 in the demo at 10 p.m. Comparably, that built by 2.03 million viewers from night two, with retention of respectable 73 percent in total viewers and 79 percent in adults 18-49 out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of America’s Got Talent (Viewers: 18.06 million; A18-49: 4.3/11). Take a look at Leno’s three night track:
The Jay Leno Show (NBC) Monday 9/14/09 – Viewers: 18.42 million; A18-49: 5.3/14 Tuesday 9/15/09 – Viewers: 11.09 million; A18-49: 3.4/ 9 Wednesday 9/16/09 – Viewers: 13.12 million; A18-49: 3.4/10
(Results for Monday and Tuesday are based on the final nationals)
Obviously, we have to wait and see how Leno settles in once the season officially begins. But NBC has more than successfully gotten the show sampled.
In series-premiere news, CW drama The Beautiful Life did not live up to its title, with a mere (and very last-place) 1.46 million viewers and a 0.7/ 2 among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m. Comparably, retention out of the second-half of lead-in America’s Next Top Model (Viewers: 3.00 million; A18-49: 1.5/ 4 at 8:30 p.m.) was only 49 percent in total viewers and 47 percent among adults 18-49. One year earlier, a repeat of 90210 averaged a stronger 1.92 million viewers and a 1.0/ 3 among adults 18-49 in the time period. Top Model, meanwhile, is down considerably, with an average 2.81 million viewers (#5) and a fourth-place 1.4/ 4 among adults 18-49 from 8-9 p.m. Comparably, that was a loss of a hefty 34 percent from one year earlier.
Elsewhere, week two of musical Fox dramedy Glee held up well, with 6.64 million viewers (#2) and a 3.1/ 8 among adults 18-49 from 9-10 p.m. Compared to one week earlier (Viewers: 7.50 million; A18-49: 3.5/ 9 on Sept. 9), that was a loss of 885,000 viewers and 11 percent in the demo -- not bad. Glee also built from lead-in So You Think You Can Dance (Viewers: #3, 5.68 million; A18-49: #2, 2.5/ 7) by 960,000 and 19 percent in the demo.
ABC had little of note on this third Wednesday in June with its combination of Wipeout (Viewers: #2, 6.21 million; A18-49: #3, 2.1/ 7), summer dud Crash Course (Viewers: #4, 3.65 million; A18-49: #4, 1.4/ 4) and the season finale of summer newsmagazine Primetime: Family Secrets (Viewers: #3, 3.98 million; A18-49: #3, 1.4/ 4).
Capping off the evening were repeats of CBS’ combination of The New Adventures of Old Christine (Viewers: #4, 4.52 million; A18-49: #4, 1.1/ 4), Gary Unmarried (Viewers: #4, 4.48 million; A18-49: #5, 1.2/ 4), Criminal Minds (Viewers: #3, 6.63 million; A18-49: #3, 1.8/ 5) and CSI: NY (Viewers: #2, 7.50 million; A18-49: #3, 1.9/ 5).

I've nothing against Glee, but having tried it several times now, I cannot for the life of me see the point of watching it. It's just not very good. And seriously--evil cheerleaders? If I'm not watching Friday Night Lights, I'm sure as hell not watching this.
NBC did very well with AGT and Jay Leno. Over 18 million with AGT in its final half hour is amazing.
ANTM is showing some major declines for CW, which isn't good as it was the top rated show on CW. TBL rated way too low, which is a shame because the series itself was better than expected. CW has two shows (MP and TBL) that aren't likely to make it past 13 episodes.
SYTYCD is rating low and Glee isn't going to be a huge hit. It does decently in the demo but with increased competition, Glee will probably dip below 6 million in viewership. I'm not sure FOX will be content with that.
TBL might be pulled before its 13 which would be a spectacular failure for the CW. What if this and Melrose Place got switched?
Glee held up pretty well. It's not going to be a huge success, but it's a demo performer and it might get more popular once American Idol is its lead-in.
As for Jay Leno, we really have to wait and see until next week. It seems to rely a bit on its lead-in. AGT is older-skewing (by the way, amazing numbers), and Leno built on viewers but kept the same demo as yesterday when it ha a younger-skewing lead-in. I want to see how it'll do when it has something like Trauma as its lead-in.

ABC had little of note on this third Wednesday in June
I think your a couple of months behind the rest of us lmao.
Beautiful Life is a huge bust (anyone suprised). Now this is the part where a normal person would work out, OK so shows about rich, beautiful girls are getting old and don't work any more whereas our recent venture into trying out something new for the network (Vampires) worked oyt pretty well. However this is the part where CW execs go, well, people are talking about it, that's all that matters... Yes were talking about how crap it is and what a crap network you are! They will cancel TBL and MP and replace them with, yes, more shows about rich beautiful girls.
Down with Dawn =] Just how long can this woman get away with pretending to have a clue what she's doing while everyone else looks on at her crushing the network piece by piece while thinking, well we did come third in our target audience three times last year, good for us.
Not that I would question Marc , but did ABC's 'Primetime' really get the exact same numbers as CSI:NY? 'Glee' was just okay last nite, but I'm looking forward to next week. Jay Leno had his best nite last nite for viewers; the show flowed better and Robin Williams was a great guest, and the skits were funnier. Looking forward to NBC's comedy premieres tonite. I think Jay will have another good nite in the ratings.
Glee is very hit or miss. I liked this week's episode after absolutely hating last week's. I will probably keep on watching as I enjoy the musical numbers.
Still there's no way I see this lasting more than one season.
Tonight's the night that FRINGE returns to make a last stand before getting mowed down by the CSI/ANATOMY juggernaught in the coming weeks.
CSI and Greys are both steadily declining. The Office is well past its peak. Far as I'm concerned, Fringe owns Thursday. Maybe I don't like it after this season, but I'm glad FOX put it there. It's a gutsy move, whether it pays off or not.
So there'll be no whiny "Oh they killed Fringe by moving it there, they never supported it, it had no lead-in, there wasn't enough promotion, oh woe is meeee!" remarks from my direction if Fringe goes down this year, trust me. IF Fringe goes down.
