As for PB, they have 22 episodes to burn. Fridays mid-season is where that will be placed.

I do agree that BL will run through all 13 episodes. I just don't think it will be after DWTS if the ratings continue. It will be switched with something.

24 comes back in January when DWTS is not longer on. It's not gonna be huge, but it'll be 10+ million and in the upper-3s for demo. We'll see how Dollhouse will do (can it really do worse than SCC?)

... I can't remember, where are House and Bones moving come January / the return of Idol? I know Fox is always threatening Bones with a move to Fridays... but unless Fringe collapses in the next couple of months (meaning last week's post-House explosion was just a fluke), Fox will likely take a stab at putting Fringe post-Tuesday Idol.

Maybe Fox will do the right thing and leave Bones where it is on Wednesdays, and finally ship House to Thursdays to play in the big league (it would win 8pm... I'm just saying...) Either that or hold it off until Dollhouse's probably/inevitable collapse and stick House in on Mondays at 8pm.

Fox is always going to have a fourth quarter content problem because it loses the regularly scheduled 1.5-2 hours a week of Idol, and 24 (though 24 probably only has two seasons left in it). I can see a world in which either/both PB and SCC escape with 6 additional episodes intended to wrap it up.

I literally gritted my teeth waiting for the site to load because I knew it would be bad news for TERMINATOR and PRISON BREAK.

FOX needs to start looking around their schedule right now to find another place to plug in TERMINATOR...maybe move or cancel the WED at 9PM sitcoms and put it there. Maybe with BONES infront of it some viewers might stick around. Last night was such a quality episode (LOST's Penny seems to be the only character Sonya Walger plays that makes it out alive-her Michelle charcter went the way of her Agent Serxner character from SLEEPER CELL). Anway its a shame that its being wasted in this slot. They've got to move it to try and save it.

HEROES...the decline is not a huge surprise but its not time to start taking measurements for the coffin yet either.

Yeah, and The 4400 took it from something else..

I'm sure that is true... But at least The 4400 didn't rip the idea off something that just ended its TV run a little over a year ago.

The idea didn't really help The 4400 in the ratings... Maybe Heroes will have better luck… But they are off to a crappy start.

Hey Marc,

Should the DVR line needs to be updated. Weren't we at 20+ percent last fall? I believe Nielsen estimates DVR penetration somewhere between 25-29% for 2008-09 season. I saw 25% in mid-July.

Well, I stopped watching Heroes last year, and I'm not willing to come back unless Niki gets a good storyline. After the disappointing second season I'm not shocked that people are not so thrilled about its' come back.

Glad to see that OTH is still OK in the ratings.

I thought for sure the CW would see a huge dip in the ratings last night, but they held up extremely well, especially considering where they were at last year. They deserve their props...

At least for Monday night.

Can't wait to see how the rest of the week will fair for them.

Mon. nights at 10 continue to be a thorn in the side of abc. It seems like nothing they put on after Dancing seems to stick in that particular time slot. I think abc should seriously consider moving 20/20 out of the fri. night graveyard and have it close out the night on mon. I think its ratings would be much better for the night as a whole.

From ABC:

Winning the opening night of the 2008-09 TV Season by over 4 million viewers, ABC delivered its most-watched season opening Monday in 9 years - since 1999 (9/20/99)…most-watched season opening Monday for any network in 6 years (since CBS on 9/23/02) It was ABC's most-watched Monday overall since 11/19/07 and its highest rated among Adults 18-49 since 3/24/08.
The 7th season premiere of Dancing with the Stars stood was the night's most-watched show and the #1 show in Adults 18-49 (tied CBS' Two and a Half Men from 9-9:30pm) .
Dancing with the Stars opener generated ABC's biggest audience in the Monday 8-10pm time period in 1-1/2 years - since 3/19/07. In addition, it was ABC's highest Adult 18-49 number in the time slot in close to 1-year - since 11/19/07.

It didn't really drop 7 million year-to-year. Remember, last year they aired the premiere twice with the same commercials so they could add the numbers. The first airing of the premiere last year got 14.12 million viewers and 6.5 in the demo. A drop of 4 million and 1.5 isn't good, but it's not as severe as 7 million and 2.4.

It only dropped about 4 million, but that is still a huge drop. Since last season had a drop between the premiere and the next episode (like almost all shows), people should expect a further drop from Heroes next week.

At which point it would do even worse than the sitcoms--which cost less to produce.

Maybe a show like SCC isn't supposed to need a successful lead-in. In any event, it wouldn't be able to hang onto it.

They've got to cancel it to try and save their asses. They have done everything that can be done for this show. It is not going to succeed on any night, in any timeslot, with any lead-in. It's a lame rehash of a worn-out concept. How can people champion a cheesy adaptation of an Ahnuld action franchise as quality television? It's nothing of the kind. We don't want it, we don't need it. If they can sell it to the SciFi Channel, fine. But SciFi could never handle the budget.

Believe it or not, this is the first Heroes ep I've ever watched longer than ten minutes.

So you can blame the ratings on me.
