-Ratings Breakdown: NASCAR on Fox led the low-rated Saturday troops, with 6.99 million viewers and a 2.4/8 among adults 18-49 in prime-time (from 8-11 p.m.). Comparably, the year-ago telecast of NASCAR on Fox averaged a similar 7.02 million viewers and a 2.7/ 9 in the demo on Saturday, April 21, 2007.
A night of repeats on NBC finished second overall in both total viewers and adults 18-49 with its combination of Law & Order: Criminal Intent (Viewers: #3, 4.42 million; A18-49: #2, 1.1 rating/4 share), Law & Order: SVU (Viewers: #2, 4.90 million; A18-49: #2, 1.3/ 4) and Law & Order (Viewers: #2, 5.85 million; A18-49: #2, 1.5/ 5).
ABC and CBS shared the No. 3 and 4 spots, respectively, with CBS third in total viewers and ABC and CBS tied for third (in rating) among adults 18-49. CBS opened the evening with 8 p.m. special The Lord’s Boot Camp at a mere (and last-place) 2.42 million viewers and a 0.8/ 3 among adults 18-49. Next on CBS was a repeat of CSI: NY (Viewers: #3, 4.05 million; A18-49: #4, 1.0/ 3) at 9 p.m., followed by 48 Hours Mystery at 5.04 million viewers (#3) and a 1.5/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#2) at 10 p.m. Repeat theatrical Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on ABC capped off the evening with 3.84 million viewers (#4) and a 1.1/ 4 among adults 18-49 (#3t).

Given the appalling ratings CBS garnered last night for its "The Lords Boot Camp" special and its cherished procedural encore "CSI NY", CBS really should play down the remaining episodes of "Secret Talents of the Stars" on Saturday nights. It rated 50% better than both these series did in A18-49.
1.5% of young adult America wants to see more "Secret Talents of the Stars", Mr. Moonves. Bring it back to Saturdays ASAP to finish its run.
Wow, what an exciting night of television! Are the networks even trying to put something good on Saturday's?
VOTE IN THE PIF NETWORK GAME: http://pifeedback.com/eve/foru...93910104/m/854104282 TONIGHT: ---> NEW <--- EPISODES OF GREATEST DAY, AND MEGA DODGEBALL. PLUS BACK FOR GOOD, GETTING SOME, THE ONLINE LIFE, AND YOU'VE GOT THE WRONG MAN! ALSO, ROSIE'S ROUNDTABLE (WITH BETTY WHITE!) AND GIRALDO LIVE!
It is getting to the point that you would think one network would at least try. NBC is trying to innovate with their year round schedule, they should continue their innovation with programming some struggling shows on Saturday. Something like Life or Lipstick Jungle could get new life. Maybe even Knight Rider if it does poorly in the fall.

there is no point in trying...the nets imo should give up saturdays (and to a lesser extent fridays) to their cable outlets...
Project runway ultimate fighter celebrity fit club wildfire kyle xy monk house hunters designed to sell plus repeats of procedurals & great shows of the past like "golden girls" "carol burnett" "all in the family" etc...

Wasn't CBS supposed to air an hour of originals on Saturdays soon? I remember seeing an article on that.
Btw, what happened to Star Search on Saturdays? I remember that would pull in 13 million.

Is this a joke?
Not at all.
Secret Talents of the Stars: 3.1HH/5%, 4.580 million viewers, 1.5 A18-49
VS.
The Lord’s Boot Camp: 2.420 million viewers, 0.8 A18-49
CSI: NY (R), 4.050 million, 1.0 A18-49
Secret Talents of the Stars delivered more viewers and demo than these two lowly-rated hours on CBS last night. I believe there are six unaired episodes remaining...enough to last through the May Sweep on Saturday in the 8 pm hour.
These numbers are depressing. Not shocking, but sad to see numbers that low.
I'm probably dating myself, but I remember a time when Saturday was the biggest night of the week for television. It was the one night of the week that we actually looked forward to watching television. In the 70-80s, there were shows like "CHiPs", "Charlie's Angels" and "The Love Boat", and in the 80-90s, it was the night of sitcoms like "Golden Girls", "Empty Nest", etc. It seems to me that the nets are wasting a golden opportunity by not scheduling new shows on Saturdays and trying to win viewers back to that night. But now it's all about Sun-Fri in primetime, and they seem to have given up on Saturdays completely. Now it seems to be just a wasteland for repeats and burning off unaired eps of cancelled shows. It's a shame too.

I could see CBS airing this junker as summer burnoff, but they are not going to bring it back for May sweeps. It is unlikely that Secret Talents of the Stars could even get the viewership of the CSI:NY reruns if it aired on Saturday night.
Saturdays could be a good place for CBS to place their horror series pilot Harper's Island that may have a chance of gaining a niche audience but won't pull in the numbers CBS are used to and doesn't fit any of their other shows.

I agree, Dumont. I think it is totally wrong that a network promotes a show, airs it once and pulls it completely.

It's a shame the The Lord's Boot Camp did so poorly. It was a fascinating, yet sometimes terrifying looking into what amounts to indoctrination. It was odd to watch as these groups went and did good in Africa, but then would counter that by lessons on "how to convert a jew" (no kidding). Docs just don't rate well, unfortunately.

I know Marc that you used to be in the network business yourself, and you know how hard decisions must sometimes be made. But I also feel you understand the perspective of the viewer better than most corporate mandarins, and it's a shame there are not more like you in the leadership of broadcast television today.
But after one single episode of Secret Talents of the Stars has aired (and only four secret talents revealed), CBS goes and shuts it down completely? Erases it from existence. What about the performers remaining in the competition? How many assurances were given to Miss Debbie Reynolds to lure her out of retirement, and for a television gig to be a judge on a celebrity talent show? She is a major cinema star, and no doubt took major coaxing to get her to do television.
Ultimately, networks are businesses, and businesses are nothing more than the goodwill they have established with their viewers. CBS, more than other networks, keeps chipping away at their goodwill with viewers when they behave in a presumptory manner as with Secret Talents of the Stars. On the one hand, they entice viewers to kick a football they are holding on a tee, and then, when you step up to punt the ball, like Lucy, they just yank the ball away and inflict yet another hour of "48 Hour Mysteries" upon us all.
