On Tuesday, members of the Writers Guilds East and West voted by a 92.5% margin to lift the restraining order that was invoked on November 5th. The strike is over.
I go back to work in the morning.
I hope you all do good things, and that good things happen to you.
A few freshman froshs -- erm, sorry, I got all Variety there for a sec -- freshman series that didn't snag back 9 pickups last fall are now getting extensions ("Reaper," "Moontrite"). Meanwhile, some new shows from the Class of '07 that did get back 9 pickups ("Life," "Chuck," "Dirty Slutty Money") are not supposed to be resuming production this spring to make any of them. Weird.
-- "Better Off Ted," Wednesdays at some time or another at some point or another in the near future. Because we can't all live in mansions and not ever work like the people on "Modern Family."

The farm storyline was a needless diversion for a premiere.
I agree that the farm story was an unnecessary thorn in the episode but other then that I thought it was pretty solid premiere.

While I would have enjoyed more of the Newbern-Jericho fight but I was throughly happy with the way they dealt with it. I mean the stuff we did get to see in the first 15 minutes or so was movie quality stuff. Those were some of the best explosions I have seen on tv. I have seen the first three episodes and this season is so much better then Season 1 which had tons of unnecessary soapy stuff in it. Here it feels like they have cut all the soap elements from the show and turned it into a good paranoid conspiracy thriller.
Oh and I think tomorrow when the ratings come out Big Brother is going to do terribly, like under 2.5 in the demo. I'm a huge fan of the show but they have completely ruined the format. The new format, I think discourages cheating & backstabbing which is the best part of the show. The "twist" (if it even deserves to be called that) is so lame that it is unbelievable. It is not even original and is a bad cross between the ex-factor twist from Season 5 and the partners twist from Season 6. Unfortunately I think this will also dilute the summer edition. Terrible move by CBS.
I have a very serious question for anyone here and please do not laugh at me.
Does anyone know how hard it is to get into the entertainment industry, doing behind the scenes jobs or careers? I am just curious because I have this itching bug to do something like that after I an done with school.
If anyone has even a hint about this and would not mind sharing, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

As for ratings, every show but House and Lost seem to have lost viewers this year...
Lost is up from last year
Lost is down year to year
Nope, it is up from the same time last year. Lost Spring premier (which had a marketing campaign on a bigger scale then this years premiere due to having the advantage of being advertised on top rated ABC series since the middle of November whereas this year they did not start airing commercials till the end of December and were not able to show commercials on their big shows that people watch due to the strike) happened during the same time last year in the first week of Feb sweeps, comparing the numbers:
2007 Spring Premiere: 14.49 million viewers 6.4 A18-49 vs 2008 Spring Premire: 16.14m viewers and 6.7 A18-49 meaning it is up 11.22% in total viewers and 4.5% in the demo.
2007 Sp Block Episode 2: 12.77 million viewers & 5.6 A18-49 vs. 2008 Spring Ep 2: 15.29 M viewers and 6.5 A18-49 which is up 16.5% in viewers and 14% amongst 18-49
Well it's down from the 1st ans 2nd episodes of last season. That's how you compare the performance not by weather seasons (BTW february it's still a winter month)

Well, if the question is year-to-year, Lost is definitely up in 2008 versus 2007. If it's "equivalent episode of the season versus last season" then it's down versus season three. Seems to be, though, that the original thought was that Lost (and House) were the only series not down this year.
If you really want to compare Lost's ratings in a bad light, though, I suggest comparing how far down original episodes of Lost are this season compared to the Grey's Anatomy episodes that ran in February Sweeps in 2007
Question: I need some scoop on the future of Prison Break! Despite a lackluster season, the show was beyond awesome and suspenseful this week. Heard anything about its future? — Christy Ausiello: All I know is that Season 3 comes to an end next Monday and the show remains on the bubble for fall. My guess? Prison Break as we know it will end, to be replaced next season with the "women in prison" spin-off that Fox has been developing. But that's just a guess.
Kinda tough like everything else... a lot of competition... but if you're young and eager... then you have to find a crap p.a. or assistant job kissing someone's butt and hope to advance to a better persons butt and so on until you end up having your butt kissed.
it's not easy... i got friends who have worked on tv shows that can't find work... but it's a little easier at your level... entry level.
if you wanna give it a try then just come to LA and do it. find an apt, make friends, get a job maybe outside entertainment first... if it doesn't work... you go back home a little bitter but hopefully you had a fun time.

from Variety: CBS calls for more 'Shark,' 'Rules' Network greenlights production on shows
'Shark'
CBS is adding two more shows to its post-strike roster, greenlighting production on new episodes of "Rules of Engagement" and "Shark." Eye has asked 20th Century Fox TV to produce four more segs of "Shark," the James Woods drama that had been airing on Sunday nights. "Dexter" is set to take over its timeslot this weekend.
Also getting the OK to resume production is the Sony/CBS Par Network TV laffer "Rules of Engagement." Net is still working with producers on an exact episode count.
In addition, CBS is in talks with Warner Bros. Television about resuming production on "The New Adventures of Old Christine" for a couple of episodes. Net wants to give the show a shot behind several original episodes of "Two and a Half Men."
Meanwhile, over at Fox, net has decided to expand the "American Idol" results show to one hour, starting Wednesday, March 12. Net didn't say how many weeks it plans to keep the show at an hour.
Move isn't good news for new laffer "The Return of Jezebel James." It had been slated to get a preview airing behind "Idol" on March 12. Instead, it will now get a one-hour premiere on Friday, March 14, at 8 p.m.
