Speaking of surprises on Big Brother, how about that Kevin? Nothing really significant of note from him this season until last Thursday's CBS episode. Ever since, his Diary Room sessions have been very funny. (I'll even include his take on the Chima/Lydia/Gnat crying jag the week prior as another "thumbs up" to him!)

Great to see him finally come out of his shell!

Kevin did manage to spin a web of lies to entrap both Jeff and Jordan in and convince them that Russell was gunning for them (he may have been, but I doubt he would have nominated either this week if he were HOH) and also stepped up to win the Veto to ensure his safety during Jeff's pivotal coup d'etat week. Not to shabby if you ask me.

I think the delay with Southland has to do more with the retooling this season on the show. Southland just hired it's regular for the season, Amaury Nolasco, which the show is going to focus on. Looks like they just started filming also. So they really need that time to film the first episodes, set up promos, etc. From a production and marketing standpoint, I think the delay is a good decision.

I'm not sure if Dateline will be as compatible with Law and Order but this delayed timetable means that Law and Order and Southland will end on their orders on the same week. Also, if Mercy or Trauma struggles out of the gate, they now have the option to move Southland, depending on how well everything else does.

Not really related, but I think it's interesting that Southland at 9 PM and White Collar at 10 PM are debuting on the same day, one on NBC, the other USA Network. It'll be a busy night for NBC Universal.

Same here, I think we need an official press release but part of what Dateline excels in is building throughout the 2 hours. I mean, I guess Dateline must be cheaper but still. Maybe NBC is seeing where medium and Ugly Betty end up in the ratings before premiering Southland? In a way, it makes sense I guess.[/QUOTE]

I guess you make more sense than me. Big Grin
I agree that having a show in the wings waiting to replace a possible failed show is a good thing.
Oh so we get Southland and White Collar on the same day!? Awesome.
I just hope that retooling the show won't change it that much.

I guess it does make sense from a promotional standpoint. But NBC had what could have been a strong Friday night lineup with Law & Order/Southland/Jay Leno. Dateline will make the night look a lot more cheap now. And, I'm not sure how it'll be a better lead-in to Leno considering Dateline doesn't start building until hour 2.

On the other hand, with Southland out of the hour this could be a good thing ratings-wise for Medium. Viewers who would have watched Southland may switch to Medium. Premiering Southland 3 weeks late could cause audiences to just not care about it.

I completely agree that NBC would have a stronger schedule with Southland instead of Dateline.

I don't see much of a cross audience between Medium and Southland, as they will likely appeal to two different audiences. But you do bring up a good point about promotion. NBC still needs to promote it so that people are aware of the late start.

I think Kevin and Natalie are two of the dullest contestants ever on BB.

The next goal should be to break up Kevin and Natalie, but idiot Jeff may have blown the game by doing what he did. If he was smart, he would turn it around and tell Jordan and Michele to still vote for Natalie.

He deserves to get kicked out, although that leaves me with few to root for since Russell is also going to be gone. (Russell made an excellent point stating that it would be really stupid for Jeff to nominate him and piss off the other person in their alliance with the rest staying an making him their target.) My only hope is that Michele and Kevin then make the final 2. Michele has at least played the game well and Kevin has annoyed me the least with his gameplay. Jordan is an airhead who hasn't done a single thing except lay around and admire Jeff. Natalie is just too much of a b*tch for me to want to see win.

I disagree with the opinion that Jeff pulled off a good move. Up until this week, I was firmly in his camp, but now...not so much. (Jeff's threats - real or imagined - against Russell and Michele and their families, as seen on the live feeds, was over the line and in light of the Ryan Jenkins affair, he should have been expelled.)

Jeff just showed his entire hand to the rest of the players: he cannot be trusted. Kevin and Natalie never did like/trust him and he has now turned off Michele. I predicted before he nominated Russell that such a move will guarantee his own exit from the game next week. I still believe that Jeff will leave next week, baring a veto victory. The only person he has left on his side is Jordan, someone who has not shown any skills in competitions. Unless Jordan wins the HOH competition on Thursday, any of the remaining players will likely nominate Jeff and Jordan for eviction. And after his display this week, I would greatly like to see Jeff talking with Julie next Thursday.

This makes sense because Southland will never work.

I think it's a smart move. The expectations are pretty low for Southland, and Dateline is probably a more compatible audience for Leno.

I see it as, since its premiering later, it doesn't have to fight for attention you know? Like the Medium and Ugly Betty audience will probably set in so Southland will pick up the left over viewers plus its own and L&O's as well.
Of course, they just have to promote well, that's all. Maybe they just need more time shooting the episodes and such.

Backing up Southland to further promote it. Makes sense because I haven't seen any Southland promos yet. (Although, I haven't seen any L&O promos either.)

I think Southland has a shot with Law and Order for a lead in but giving it some extra promotion can't hurt. Plus I'm thinking Betty will decline as she goes on Fridays and Dollhouse isn't going to increase audience, that's for sure. Even Medium in my mind won't crack a 2.5 demo on Fridays. Its still wide open. Dateline may win the slot early this fall.

A smart Jeff would've taken Russell to the end with him. Lovey dovying up to Russell would've been smarter while retaining the flirting with Jordan (she wouldn't take anyone else). Hell, he'd beat her too. I wouldn't keep Michelle as she's my bet to win this all. Kevin is annoying. Ditto for b*tchy Gnat-alie.

Not as bad as Ivette and that woman who won over her a few years ago in season six with Jedi Janey and Howie.

Yes but knowing how things happen, Natalie will probably win this week. If I was Jeff, I'd get on Michelle's good side again and pray her winning streak roles through and not Lydia's Poodle.

You liked Russell? The same Russell who continuously refers to Kevin as a "girl" and has tortured several in the house simply because he was bored or paranoid, while not taking advice from his own father (as noted in his HOH letter) to be more humble.

Whether Brussell (I mean, Russell Wink) stayed in the house or not, Jeff was gonna be a target in the near future. Jeff just made the first blow. Plus, the odds of Kevin and Gnat-alie winning anything were much less than the more-willing competitors of the most disgusting duo of the house, Brussell & B***h-ele.

Finally, Jeff has shown some game moxie that was not provided to him by some magical mystery powers. He thought it up his own self! And, I agree with him urging on girlfriend Jordan to start becoming more of a force within this game instead of the spineless jellyfish she currently is in game play.

Congratulations, Jeff - you are now atop of the Big Brother class! Big Grin (Took ya long enough!)
