Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Also, since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 9 percent in early 2006-07 to approximately 20 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.
----------
-Friday’s Winners: Deal or No Deal (NBC), Ghost Whisperer (CBS), Women’s Murder Club (ABC), Numb3rs (CBS)
-Disappointing: Men in Trees (ABC)
-Friday’s Losers: 20/20 (ABC), Friday Night Lights (NBC)
----------
ABC’s new Friday line-up netted mixed results, beginning with relocated newsmagazine 20/20 at a fourth-place 5.64 million viewers and a 1.7 rating/6 share among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. The network fared considerably better at 9 p.m., with the debut of Women’s Murder Club first in both total viewers (10.80 million) and adults 18-49 (2.5/ 8). Comparably, that outdelivered year-ago occupant Men in Trees (Viewers: 7.13 million; A18-49: 2.1/ 7 on Oct. 13, 2006) by 3.67 million viewers and 19 percent among adults 18-49. It also built from lead-in 20/20 by a hefty 5.16 million viewers and 47 percent in the demo. And Women’s Murder Club led ABC to its biggest audience with regular scheduled programming in the time period in more than four years.
The second-season premiere of lead-out Men in Trees lost considerable steam, dropping to third at 10 p.m. in total viewers (7.05 million) and fourth among adults 18-49 (2.0/ 6). That put retention for Men in Trees out of Women’s Murder Club of 65 percent in viewers and 80 percent in the demo. The bottom line: it could be better, but it could also be worse for the quirky Anne Heche drama. But this is a strong start for The Women’s Murder Club.
CBS’ Ghost Whisperer and NBC’s Deal or No Deal shared leadership at 8 p.m. as follows:
Friday 8 p.m. Deal or No Deal (NBC) Viewers: 10.17 million (#1), A18-49: 2.4/ 8 (#2t)
Comparably, Deal or No Deal led NBC to its strongest position among adults 18-49 in the time period since March 16. Both networks took a hit at 9 p.m., however, opposite Women’s Murder Club (and baseball on Fox). Take a look:
Friday Night Lights (NBC) Viewers: 5.42 million (#4), A18-49: 1.7/ 5 (#4)
Comparably, that put retention for Moonlight out of Ghost Whisperer of 83 percent in total viewers and 80 percent among adults 18-49; and Friday Night Lights out of Deal or No Deal of just 53 percent in viewers and 71 percent in the demo. I bet more people would watch Friday Night Lights if the camera would stop constantly shaking. What is with that already?
CBS moved into the 10 p.m. winner’s circle care of Numb3rs at 9.10 million viewers and a 2.6/ 8 among adults 18-49, followed by NBC’s Las Vegas at 7.14 million viewers (#2) and a 2.1/ 7 (#2t) in the demo.
Over at Fox, game one of the American League Championship Baseball Series averaged an estimated 7.07 million viewers (#4) and a 2.3/ 7 (#1t) among adults 18-49 in prime-time. One year earlier, game two of the National League Championship Series scored a heftier 9.01 million viewers and a 2.8/10 in the demo. Keep in mind, of course, that fast affiliate results for any live sporting event are always approximate.
Last, but consistent, was the CW’s Friday Night Smackdown! at 4.44 million viewers and a 1.4/ 5 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m.

Women's Murder Club did very well but I would be interested to see how many stick around next week. I have a feeling we are going to see a huge decline.
Men In Trees did terrible to start out. It is definately a "loser". 7 mil is not a good start considering that it's going to drop in the 6's next week at least.
Moonlight and FNL had huge drops. Both aren't fairing well at all. Moonlight is the weakest link in the CBS lineup as it's dragging the lineup down. FNL just isn't finding an audience.
WMC should move quickly to another night. The way I see it ABC might have something here. What about 10pm on Thursday...since soaps don't seem to work there, why not try a crime show?
As for Men in Trees: That's what you get for moving a show around + putting it on a 8-month long hiatus.
Watched WMC on DVR this am and didn't like it at all and have read the books. Maybe Angie Harmon just grates on me. I will be interested to see how it drops next week as premiers always have inflated numbers.
I am also a big big Moonlight fan and totally disagree that it is the weakest link. From the chatter I have seen online, this show is growing a following by leaps and bounds. I am rooting for this show like no other.
Moonlight is dragging CBS down. They'll eventually have to replace it with a rerun or something or else they are in danger of losing a night wich they won easily before

Personally, I really liked WMC. Looking forward to next weeks episode. And with that huge cliffhanger at the end a lot of viewers will probably do the same.
And Las Vegas keeps on dropping, mabye las vegas and journeyman should swap? And the numbers for murder club were purely sampling,i am not going back next week, cause it was boring, and suprisingly deal or no deal is building up steam again. Let's hope Las Vegas will get over this!!!!!

Agreed and both should be gone. The only positive for FNL is that baseball will go away. Still, that show never should have been renewed. 'Critical darling' didn't translate to ratings last year and it won't translate this year.
Next week, expect WMC to take a big, post-premiere drop. Men in Trees better hope the WMC drop next week doesn't drop it even further. MiT is definitely in bubble territory again.
I agree. If Moonlight keeps declining and WMC stays steady or decreases only slightly, they will lose the night next week.
