I've always felt that the networks going early with their shows is a complete waste of time and money. I think people will not start to really get into Fall TV until premiere week. I think the networks should stop with this early premiere thing. Even shows that are doing well now will go down when all the networks start programming against it.
As much as I would love to see that happen, it doesn't seem to be in their plans. Also, Joss Whedon is under contract to FOX.

If you weren't kidding. I think those numebrs reflect the time period and not the program. In other words those were the people actually watching the game. If I am correct then the number for the CW should actually go down with final numbers.
Fringe's numbers are kind of disappointing. However, it should build with the lead in of House next week. Plus, FOX has bigger issues with their schedule right now (i.e. PB, SCC, HITW, and most likely their comedies)

You actually think people are stupid. Like they wait a signal on the 1st week of the "official" season in order to turn on their TV sets. The only mistake FOX made was to premiere PB on Labour Day
PS: i guess Bones got 10 million viewers by accident, right?

If it keeps those ratings I think CW would keep it over Reaper.
If it performed at those numbers all season long and the choice was this show or Reaper then yes the CW would keep it. Its produced in house (which Reaper isn't) and thus all other revenue streams go to the parent companies. It also scored marginally higher in the adult demo (though without the breakdown by gender and the younger demo groups its harder to see which fits better into CW's niche).
But, typically shows (probably like over 80% of them) lose viewers when they start as opposed to staying the same or gaining. And as this was still up again'st a partial summer schedule will face increased competition in the coming weeks.

Every time that networks have gone early like this it fails. Lots of shows will get better ratings later on. The weather is still fairly good, and it is still light at the start of the TV night especially in the midwest. In the central time zone it is still light at 7:00 when the shows start. If going early was so successful than all the networks would do it.
Bones was less than 10 million, and I expect it will get better ratings than that as the season rolls on.
Also, don't you think it was dumb putting SCC and PB up against TWO monday night football games. One is tough enough, but to let the go against two games is plain dumb.

No I wasn't kidding, but if that was the case, I would have guessed the Cubs game would have pulled in higher numbers than that.

90210 lost a lot from last week's premiere. I can't imagine going up against House next week is going to help it any either. On the other hand, Privileged did well without the benefit of all the hype and promotion.
Fringe's numbers are rather disappointing. If it were going to be starting out the night, I would say it would be canceled by mid-season. However, we should see an increase next week with the House lead-in.

"Privileged" was awesome!!! but the bad side is that it was preempted to and aired at 11:35 a.m. CT....
Another reason it is dumb for the networks to go early. The Cubs and White Sox will be off WGN in a couple of weeks, and no preemptions.
