To put things further into perspective, Bones is a popular show with an established viewership and fanbase, whereas Fringe is a completely new show, premiering two weeks before the official seasons begins. I'm think it'll grow when more people find it (and like it) as it begins airing after House.
And it is my MOST SINCERE EISH, that more people will start tuning into shows when the official seasons stars. Things aren't looking good for FOX: I think they made a big mistake premiering all their shows before the official season. There is yet to be any success (besides Bones). T:SCC and PB were huge disappointments and Fringe went below expectations as well, even though the numbers aren't terrible and will probably grow.
I'm not surprised at Fringe's numbers... about what I expected. To self start early in the season, with no stars (pretty much) and only JJ Abrams name attached. Yes, a ton of marketing - but to me the marketing was a little confusing to draw in a mass audience. LOST is the exception to that rule - and probably one of the most successful marketing campaigns for a new TV show in the last decade. I see some stablization post-House, but probably not the hit FOX expected it to be.
I'm pleasantly surprised with Wipeout's numbers - to beat AGT and come very close to Fringe in 18-49's is quite impressive. ABC has to be pleased with the results.
Hole in the Wall should be called S*** on the Fan for FOX (which is not having a good Fall...) I think they sensed a potential breakout with this (hence all the stunt scheduling), but with these numbers its going to lay an egg on Thursday night.

And who is going to be aired afer Idol this year ? Fringe !!
Whata hell are you talking about? Fringe will be aired after the House.
Dont expect much for Fringe, people. If it couldnt open big last night I dont expect it will do all that much better after House, especially with Dancing w/Stars right around the corner to put it out of its misery.
Well if i'm not mistaken, FOX is airing the full pilot again sunday night AFTER football. I think this might bring in some new audience and then next week it's in it's regular time slot after House. So it will have a great lead in. I think it will lose the viewers most new shows lose after one week and then maybe gain a few more from Sunday night and leftovers from House. I believe it will have a solid rating (not spectacular) for this season. I think this show could develop a following if FOX is patient with it. Also, long term paired with Dollhouse it could be a great night for us Sci Fi geeks.

But, Fringe will get AI as a leadin over the Winter/Spring
You know, it might have done better if they hadn't kept insistently plugging it as being created by JJ Abrams.
People have had enough of being disappointed by this guy, whether it's Felicity, Alias, or that home movie about a giant gloppy thing destroying New York. It never ends well. If Lost is the exception, that'll be because it was made far enough away from L.A. for him to only sporadically get in the way of the people actually running it.
He's really a PRODUCER--not a particularly great writer or director. He has talent, but he's no visionary. He seems more concerned with selling himself than his projects, sometimes.
I think a lot of people figured they weren't going to get suckered in this time.
Me, I'll watch it, but I'm not expecting much of anything. Just keep Anna Torv in her underwear as much as possible. Oh, and would it be too much to hope for that she has a torrid affair with the Lance Reddick character?
Fringe: great lead character, but a supporting cast of caricatures. The show was annoyingly overproduced and the plot was a very weak 'twists just for the sake of twists' montage. That kind of show leaves people either thinking 'what will happen next' or 'who cares what will happen next'. LOST is the same kind of show, so Fringe definitely has a chance to grow. Still, this initial ratings number is disappointing, just like the premiere numbers for Terminator and Prison Break. FOX is off to a rough start, and maybe should not have tried to launch early even if they do have a deep slate of midseason shows.
90210: Big drop that will likely put the show under 3 million viewers in the finals (Chicago again). The extra big drop is no surprise, though, given the hype/curiousity of the show's 'return'. The real test remains November sweeps when it cuts back to once per week airing. CW would be wise to announce the full season renewal in October.
Privileged: Not a bad ratings number, though it too will drop in finals. I watched most of this show and it was not particularly bad. None of the female characters are very compelling (the best one looked to just be a cameo in the first 10 minutes of the show), but this show is definitely not a show about rich spoiled kids like Gossip Girl. I read elsewhere as people compared it to the fast/witty dialog of Gilmore Girls and as a show about people. This show is much better and more universal than the premise would suggest.
Hole in the Wall: If this was an original, FOX may have the first show they need to dump from the schedule.
Wow... I predicted that 90210 would fall some and eventually settle around 3 mill, but even I didn't think it would drop that far so quickly!
Where's that poster that was crowing about Dawn Ostroff's job security? If 90210 was her savior last week, this week it might be the nail in the coffin.
