----------

-Countdown to the Fall Season:
11 days

----------

-Yesterday’s Winners:
Bones (Fox), America’s Got Talent (NBC)

-Disappointing:
‘Til Death (Fox)

-Yesterday’s Losers (excluding repeats):
Greatest American Dog (CBS), Do Not Disturb (Fox)

----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
NBC got “over the hump” in winning fashion, with a first-place finish in both total viewers and adults 18-49. Fox was second despite a night of all original programming

Another two-hour edition of America’s Got Talent on NBC was the most-watched show of the evening at 11.49 million viewers and a second-place 2.5 rating/8 share among adults 18-49 from 8-9 p.m. Here is the half-hour breakdown:

America’s Got Talent (NBC)
8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 9.69 million (#1), A18-49: 2.2/ 7 (#2)
8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 11.25 million (#1), A18-49: 2.7/ 8 (#2)
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 12.78 million (#1), A18-49: 3.2/ 9 (#1)
9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 12.25 million (#1), A18-49: 3.1/ 8 (#1)

America’s Got Talent led into a repeat of Law & Order: SVU, with 7.19 million viewers (#2) and a first-place 2.2/ 6 among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m. It should be interesting to see SVU opposite CBS’ Without a Trace this coming season. My prediction: Without a Trace first in total viewers; SVU No. 1 among adults 18-49.

Fox’s underrated Bones remains a solid option, with 8.91 million viewers (#2) and a first-place 2.9/ 9 among adults 18-49 from 8-9 p.m. Bones led into the third season-premiere of ‘Til Death at a disappointing 6.36 million viewers (#3) and a 2.4/ 7 among adults 18-49 (#2) at 9 p.m. Comparably, the Brad Garrett comedy was down by 1.40 million viewers and 11 percent among adults 18-49 from it’s year-ago season-opener on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 8:30 p.m. (Viewers: 7.76 million; A18-49: 2.7/ 8). And the retention out of the second half of lead-in Bones (Viewers: 9.32 million; A18-49: 3.1/ 7) was a so-so 68 percent in total viewers and 77 percent in the demo.

Lead-out Do Not Disturb, meanwhile, premiered at just 4.88 million viewers (#3) and a 2.0/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#3) at 9:30 p.m., dropping by 1.48 million viewers and 17 percent in the demo out of ‘Til Death.

Elsewhere, the season (or, more likely, series) finale of CBS’ Greatest American Dog averaged 5.53 million viewers (#3) and a 1.7/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#3) at 8 p.m. Please CBS (or any network): no more reality/competitions with four-legged contestants voted off. That led into repeats of Criminal Minds (Viewers: #2, 8.28 million; A18-49: #4, 1.8/ 5) and CSI: NY (Viewers: #1, 7.51 million; A18-49: #3, 1.7/ 5) from 9-11 p.m. ABC aired encore telecasts of Wife Swap (Viewers: #4, 4.02 million; A18-49: #4, 1.4/ 4) and Supernanny (Viewers: #4, 3.30 million; A18-49: #4t, 1.2/ 3) from 8-10 p.m., followed by a Wednesday edition of 20/20 at 5.98 million viewers (#3) and a 2.0/ 6 among adults 18-49 (#2) at 10 p.m.

The CW capped off Wednesday with episode two of the new season of America’s Top Model (Viewers: #5, 3.84 million; A18-49: #3, 2.0/ 6) a repeat of 90210 (Viewers: #5, 2.29 million; A18-49: #4t 1.2/ 3).

Nice growth for ANTM vs. the premiere.

Great episode as well.

Gotta love the model with the implants trying to pawn them off as real. Too funny.

I also think ANTM really lucked out to have an Alaskan contestant on the show at this highly topical timing, even if the ANTM contestant is a real rural/shy/normal Alaskan rather than a celebrity/party type.

bad opening number for Do Not Disturb, but it will likely be the highest rated episode of the series. This show was so amazingly bad that I would expect a drop to about 3.5million viewers next episode.

Still solid numbers for the encore of 90210 which is nice to see. do you think the cw takes those numbers into account and adds them to the finals from tuesday night? If they do that would bring the episode up over 5 million viewers which is awesome.

Caught part of "Do Not Disturb" -- wasn't impressed (not very funny and the cast chemistry wasn't there). Guess the viewers took the show's title seriously.

Here in Atlanta, the ABC affiliate pre-empted Wife Swap for two local specials -- one on Henry Ford's Georgia connections, the other a lottery contest. Only in America.

This show is indeed very older skewing but would be a good fall addition in my mind for NBC.

Bones: B+
Til Death: C
DND: F

So much for DND growing out of Til Death. That show is beyond doomed and Fox knew it right away. I smell a quick 2 or 3 week kill off here and extra eps of Til Death filling in.

Top Model did decent enough. I suspect it will grow a bit throughout the edition like last spring's edition. Good repeat number for 90210. This is not some savior series for the CW, but it is a solid option and likely will bring in a bit older audience, which the CW could use to promote their other shows.

Is that the premise for Dancing with the Stars? Wink

I doubt very much that Greatest American Dog will come back to CBS, but I wouldn't be too surprised if Animal Planet picked it up. The show has to be very cheap to produce and it pulled in about the same demo as the CBS procedural reruns last night.

Call it the curse of CHECKING IN...for some reason with the exception of NEWHART sitcoms featuring hotels have never done well...see CHECKING IN and PAYNE for instance. I worked a front desk for many years and always enjoy seeing the industry represented but the vast majority of viewers apparently don't.

C'Mon JERRY O'CONNELL quit wasting your time and give us fans what we want. If he expressed an interest in a SLIDERS movie or revival we'd probably get one.

Also the news about DOLLHOUSE production being suspsended puts into doubt it being the great white hope for FOX to shore up its shaky lineup.

There was a Norman Lear Sitcom named Hot l Baltimore that was a brilliant example of how to do a hotel sitcom. It only lasted a year, but so many people remember this show that I talked to that were around when the show was on. But it was a bit ahead of its time. It starred Conchata Ferrell from 2 1/2 Men and i wish they had a DVD of the episodes.

Both TD and DND came in DOA. It's another space that FOX has to fix. When ABC and CBS comes in with their schedule, TD will be below 5 million and DND below 4 million.

Greatest American Dog will not come back. Those numbers are terrible.

Talking about terrible numbers, those Wife Swap/Supernanny repeat numbers are way off. If they pull in those numbers on Friday, ABC is in trouble.

Bones LW vs TW:

Last Week Bones (Fox)
8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 8.77 million (#2), A18-49: 2.9/ 9 (#1)
8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 9.57 million (#2), A18-49: 3.2/ 9 (#1)

This Week
8.91 million viewers (#2) and a first-place 2.9/ 9 (#1)

Seems pretty consistent to me, although I'm not an expert so I'm sure somebody will chime in on why I'm dead wrong Wink

Sadly, though, the episode was horrible. Sure enough, just as I said last week:

"I'm afraid they're about to get gimmicky; anyone else getting a "new assistant each week" vibe?"

And the whole Booth vs Bones Monogamy vs Polygamy thing was just ... eccch. Even the main plot was more L&O than Bones. I really hope the past two weeks' lackluster eps don't hurt viewership once the fall season starts.

My guess is L&O: SVU is #1 in both viewers and demos. WAT is falling fast.

I had high hopes for Do not disturb, but it was bad. And why they keep renewing til death is beyond me -- they should have renewed back to you instead.

I really wish that CBS had started to put christine on wed over the summer so that viewers know that it will be there.

Cost-wise, 'Til Death was cheaper to renew than Back to You.
