-Ratings Breakdown:
NBC and Fox opened the week on a winning note, with NBC the most-watched network (290,000 viewers ahead of Fox) and Fox No. 1 among adults 18-49.

NBC’s Deal or No Deal, which debuted in first-run daytime syndication yesterday, and the second season-premiere of Fox’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles shared leadership in the 8 p.m. hour as follows:

Monday 8 p.m.
Deal or No Deal (NBC)
Viewers: 9.61 million (#1), A18-49: 2.1/ 6 (#2)

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Fox)
Viewers: 6.34 million (#2), A18-49: 2.4/ 7 (#1)

Despite winning the hour in the demo, Sarah Connor took a tumble, dipping by a hefty 43 percent in the demo from its series on Monday, Jan. 14, 2008 (4.2/10).

Also airing in the 8 p.m. hour were repeats of CBS sitcoms The Big Bang Theory (Viewers: #3, 5.59 million; A18-49: #3, 1.8/ 5) and How I Met Your Mother (Viewers: #3, 5.80 million; A18-49: #3, 2.2/ 6), the series-finale of ABC dud High School Musical: Get in the Picture (Viewers: #4, 4.13 million; A18-49: #5, 1.1/ 3), and the CW’s Gossip Girl (Viewers: #5, 3.16 million; A18-49: #5, 1.6/ 4). Had this reality/competition aired on The Disney Channel where it belonged, the results might have seemed better.

As for Gossip Girl, and according to the CW: last night’s episode tied as the second highest rated installment of the series in adults 18-34, women 18-34, adults 18-49; building over the year-ago second telecast of the season by as much as 45 percent among adults 18-49.

CBS and Fox shared leadership from 9-10 p.m. as follows, but Prison Break remains on the downside year-to-year.

Monday 9-10 p.m.
Two and a Half Men R (CBS) - 9 p.m.
Viewers: 9.23 million (#1), A18-49: 2.9/ 7 (#1)

The New Adventures of Old Christine R (CBS) – 9:30 p.m.
Viewers: 7.38 million (#1), A18-49: 2.4/ 6 (#2)

Prison Break (Fox)
Viewers: 6.48 million (#2), A18-49: 2.6/ 6 (#1t)

Week three of America’s Toughest Jobs remains a disappointment at 6.48 million viewers (#2) and a 2.6/ 6 among adults 18-49 (#1t), despite the first-place tie in the demo. Over at ABC was two-hour special CMA Music Festival: Country Music’s Night to Rock at a mere 5.79 million viewers and a 1.7/ 4 among adults 18-49 from 9-11 p.m. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown:

CMA Music Festival: Country Music’s Night to Rock
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 6.23 million (#4), A18-49: 1.6/ 4 (#4)
9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 6.53 million (#3), A18-49: 1.9/ 5 (#4)
10:00 p.m. – Viewers: 5.81 million (#3), A18-49: 1.8/ 4 (#2t)
10:30 p.m. – Viewers: 4.59 million (#3), A18-49: 1.5/ 4 (#3)

Wrapping up the 9 p.m. hour was the CW’s very compatible One Tree Hill at 3.25 million viewers and a 1.6/ 4 among adults 18-49. According to the CW, One Tree Hill built on its second telecast last year (1/15/08) by 18 percent in total viewers and as much as 41 percent among women 18-49 (2.4/ 6).

First at 10 p.m. was a repeat of CBS’ CSI: Miami (Viewers: 7.40 million; A18-49: 2.0/ 5), which I predict will squash upcoming NBC drama My Own Worst Enemy, followed by NBC’s Dateline (Viewers: 6.19 million; A18-49: 1.7/ 5) and the second half of ABC’s aforementioned CMA Music Festival: Country Music’s Night to Rock.

Shouldn't that be Prison Break? And Americas Toughest Jobs had the exact same numbers?

That's a disaster for SCC and PB. I'm sure PB will stick at this levels but SCC will drop even further. The only hope i have is that FOX won't rush PB's ending

Fantastic for OTH beating GG, really glad to see it.

SCC numbers are really bad considering the competition level. Once ABC puts on DWTS and CBS has new episodes of BBT and HIMYM against it the numbers will go down.

I'm sorry to see TERMINATOR and PRISON BREAK didn't do to well.

It seems as if SERIALIZED DRAMAS these last few years have had the toughest time finding audiences. Its sad when shows that don't require a viewer to keep sharp and follow a storyline like TWO AND A HALF MEN and DANCING WITH THE STARS suceed beyond anyone wildest dreams.

It's a shame season 2 of SCC didn't get off to a good start. I enjoyed the premiere.

I think FOX will probably give SCC a full season--they're too invested in it to let go of it easily.

But given that this is how its massively promoted expensively produced premiere did, against no first-run competition other than Gossip Girl and a flop special, you have to consider S2 a flop right out of the gate. Now it's just stuck waiting for DWTS and the rest of its timeslot competition to come around and terminate it.

FOX is in big trouble with this lineup. No doubt about it. I don't see how SCC will have a full season

On the other hand is CW really happy about GG's numbers? I wouldn't be. Seeing OTH beating GG in every category must've given Ostroff a heart attack. Maybe she'll switch the slots.

Good catch!

Marc, should the numbers for America's Toughest Jobs be: 6.46M viewers and only a 2.2demo?

I'd say Terminator and PB are goners this December. Fox would be wise to let each know they're ending after 13 this fall and have the storylines wrapped up. Then come January, this timemslot can be given to Dollhouse and perhaps the second half of Fringe's season. That would allow House to stay on Tuesday and Bones on Wednesday. Til Death and a new comedy could share the post-Idol results slot on Wednesdays at 9:30.

If it does get a full season, it's because the new Terminator movie comes out around May, so it'll get a load of free publicity.

PB is incredibly consistent in keeping pretty much the same numbers during the season but also consistent in losing 1 million viewers each season
