I agree with Marc. The show's content may not be loser materials, but the viewership numbers definitely qualify it.
If any other show on any other network averaged less than 4.0 million viewers, it would be yanked regardless of quality. So, for it to be performing so badly, regardless of quality, it deserves to be on the loser's list.
I really do think the defensiveness of the VM fans is part of why I'm ready for it to be cancelled. It's ridiculous when someone who's just reporting the ratings has to apologize for them every week, just to keep rabid fans off his back.
Oh pisher, what will you do when there is no more VM to pick on? Your life will be so meaningless!
Oh Wayne, you have no idea how many times I've heard that before. From long-vanished fans of long-vanished shows I haven't discussed in years.
There's ALWAYS another bad show with crap ratings that frantic fans think is the second coming of Shakespeare.
And Mr. Berman, I assure you--that was sarcasm. Just keep doing your job. Last year, I was pointing out your negative comments about Night Stalker's ratings on ABC to people who were SURE you were biased against that show--one of them claimed to have insider knowledge that it was about to be picked up for a full season.
As it turned out, not so much.
We all make mistakes (or simply disagree over matters of taste), but nobody with half a brain thinks you're out to 'get' any particular show.
Unfortunately, there's a lot of people watching VM (not ALL of them) who'd be lucky to have half a brain.
Originally posted by Douglas: I had good hopes for "Show Me The Money" but what a disappointment. The show had very little suspense and its format isn't great.
So each contestant can pass 2 questions each round and earn an average of $150,000 when getting a simple question correct? The first contestant, who knew very little, won $590,000! Why don't they just rain money on the audience if they're giving it away that easy anyway?
I never thought I'd state this but if ABC wants a great quiz show on its current primetime schedule, they should bring back "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire." Or, how about a revival of "Press Your Luck", with a similar look and format of the 1980s version (not the GSN Whammy! version)? (I admit I'm biased by proposing this revival because it's my favorite game show ever) I know it flopped on CBS's "Gameshow Marathon" this summer but that was with celebrities and celebrity versions of game shows usually suck, like the one on "Gameshow Marathon".
I watched this at 4am when I couldn't sleep. I would have thought that this show would have put me to sleep but it was so bad I think I was subconciously horrified that they would put something this bad on the air. It was almost a SNL skit.... I love Game Shows and so far, the only one I can say is worth air time is 1 vs. 100. Show Me The Money won't make it to Christmas. I agree about Millionaire and Press Your Luck... (and of course I have to mention GREED once more...)
Marc, I know I've said this before, but the poster pisher brings the level of this forum down to that of a fifth grader. On any other forum, he would've been banned long ago. He does nothing but repeat the same nonsense over and over again while insulting the fans of VM, as he has done to fans of many other shows in the past. I'm not sure why he hasn't been banned here, yet, but I really wish you would consider it.

I agree. I'm a "rabid" fan, and I think it's dispicable that other fans will send Marc hate mail and stuff for just plainly reporting the numbers. In the fast nationals it got a 1.7 last night. A FREAKING 1.7! That's loser material. So, I'm just going to sit back and enjoy a show that I find particular awesome until the end of its run. Which will likely be this season. I'm hopeful for a full 22, but given the loss of steam the show has exhibited in the ratings since airing an original after a repeat Gilmore Girls on Halloween night... it's unlikely. Unless the show can pick itself up to a 2.5 up by the end of its run... there's no point in CW keeping it around next year.
Marc, you keep labeling VM a loser until its ratings justify not being a loser. And don't apologize for it.
However, I will add that last night's episode was awesome and made the fanboy in me scream out loud several times.
Keep in mind that the SMTM's ratings drop in each of its 1/2 hrs can be attributed to the fact that this is a family show. As the kiddies went to bed, the tv's went off.
The kids could be back when it airs in its regular slot at 8pm EST.
Thank you for the tip, JHoney...I'm so busy with gee vs. sheilacarol, I have not fully noticed. But I'm "on it" now!

Just an FYI, the rabidity (is that even a word) of VM fans is one of the reasons I refuse to watch the show. I am tired of being labeled an 'idiot' because I do not watch it and I am tired of being told every week to watch the show. It DOES NOT interest me, leave me alone [/rant over]

Jhoney, Nobody said you were questioning VM's place in the loser category (though it kinda seemed as if you were), merely pointing out that Marc is just giving his opinion, based on the #'s--and nothing else.
However, it's self-evident that OTH is doing better than VM--which is not to say both shows aren't losers. And not just in terms of ratings.
But CW's ratings spin for last week praises OTH--and forgets to mention VM.
