The Simpsons was so enjoyable last night... some of the best first-run material they've done in a long time (and I've noticed that even the more poor first-rum material gets funnier with age in syndie reruns). The 8pm half-hour's send-up of 24 and all if that show's loopholes, ticks, and problems was just awesome while also respecting what used to be the show's unique visual style (the multiple angles on split screen that are no longer used, for one).
DH wasn't the best finale its had. Better than last year, IMHO. The Edie thing was out of left field, sort of, but my mouth is still gaping. Watercooler buzz!
Brothers & Sisters... continually the most enjoyable hour of television on my schedule. A great way to end the weekend/start the work week. That was a beautifully done finale. So much symmetry in the season (the pool party being the complete mirror of the series premiere's ending with William Walker drowning in the pool). Bravo.

Great Simpsons last night - especially the second half-hour when they took on Fox News and the Fox network in general. Brilliant! (And I haven't said that about "The Simpsons" in the last few years....)
Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters were amazing. DH has really improved since last seasons suck fest. I'm glad I didn't let season 2 keep me away. If Sally Field doesn't get an Emmy nomination for B&S, there is something wrong with the Emmy voters. Replacing Betty Buckley with her was the best thing to happen to that show.

Was either a particularly strong effort, compared to classic eps of the past? No.
Are those POV shots of characters running past other characters in various strange situations getting old? Yes.
Can we afford to lose a primetime show that so bitingly mocks FOX News, the FOX network, and the sheer idiocy that is Jack Bauer (and Kiefer knows it) in front of an audience of around 10 million people?
NO.
Keep it on until people stop watching, or the voice actors die, whichever comes first.
This isn't a damn show, people.
It's an institution.
However, I'll all for killing Saturday Night Live, because that show sucks.
Haha, SNL USED to suck. It's slowly starting to get its groove back. I stopped watching the Simpsons because they became so ... blah lately, but I did watch it last night because I love 24 and I'll admit, it was pretty damned funny.

Last and the very least, the CW. They're not even trying, are they? That is just appalling.
The CW is low because those were repeat episodes.
Peace!!
The most appalling number is the 7th Heaven number; a good indication that 7th Heaven would be a disaster going forward. Hopefully, their fall schedule can 'uptick' from the Sundays they had this year, but if the CW really wants to make an improvement, they need 3 shows that night, not 2 shows and an 'encore' of anything.

Yeah, SNL has been 'getting its groove back' for over a quarter of a century now, and somehow it never quite gets back.
But the movie deals for ex NRFPT Players keep piling up--and the movies themselves keep getting worse as well.
No...two-thirds retention out of a very successful show is good, and I think more people will find B&S next season. Get used to it -- it's here to stay!

Not if the Zach Braff season finale was any indication. Zach's a funny guy and a decent actor... but I think I can count the number of times I laughed that episode. The Molly Shannon thing was a fluke, because it was retreading her old characters (that seem genius compared to much of the current crop... Deep House Dish anyone?)

If only because there's very little room to go but up (I wonder how CW Now and Online Nation will compare to Reba repeats/originals on the year-to-year).
