I just do not understand the ratings system at all. It does kind of bother me that the season finale of Supernatural was so low. What the hell happened?

All the other networks aired their finales against it (excl. FOX) that's what happened and it caused SN's ratings to dive in the process.
Bring on The Office v Canterbury's Law v CSI v GA next season.
What is going on with Supernatural?. I mean, it was renewed so no worries, but what is with those ratings?. Smallville jumped back up a bit, so I thought for sure SN would too. It's the best show on the CW. That's lower than last week. I just don't understand. Maybe SN needs a different slot next season?.

The main thing that hurt Smallville receently was Fifth Grader and it wasn't on last night. Supernatural's competition was still on and airing finales.
